Consider yourself lucky it was fucking terrible, in the end he doesn't escape the village just becomes its new jailer, there was some early goodness but it completely went to shit at the end.

I'll say this much is has the best, real cinematography yet seen on a made-for-tv show. Just look at the vistas in "Dance of the Dead" and the amazing colouring and editing in "Many Happy Returns".
