dude it's not that great, you are being easily impressed by a neat cover, not saying it's bad, but it's pretty forgetable
>>
>>62884568
which one is it ?
>>
>>62884609
"Oh Gods and Horses"
>>
>>62884609

winter sleep
>>
>>62884608
I don't know what to say.
Maybe i am little biased towards it as i found it very relatable .

also you can't disagree that it is very well made..
>>
WHAT FILM YOU FUCKIN AUTIST
>>
>>62884686

no sure it's well made, some of the long dialogue especially the one with his sitster are really well writen, prefectly shot and well acted, but yeah in the end, it's sociological drama about rich willing people finding out how fucking alienated they are from the reality

>>
>>62884720

I don't think it was forgettable.
Maybe a bit(an understatement)slow which might be a huge turn off for many. And it's just isn't about the rich,we all go through it one time or another as far as i can tell..

Also The characters are extremely well developed and basically it did what it was aiming to do perfectly.

with that being said i know that it won't appeal to many.it's was more like reading than watching a film.

anyway care to mention the best films u have recently watched??
>>

It's the greatest sci-fi ever made, but not quite a 10/10 because it fell apart at the end where he rips dostoevsky

i watched badlands recently for the first time, best malick i'v seen so far, and an amazing, compelling and interresting story, as opposed to winter sleep which lack depth of a solid comelling message
>>
>>62884900
Pretty awesome actually, i never liked sea battles but this one got me hooked. I liked the fact that it was realistic and not all about the "we can save everyone!" ideology. Furthermore i enjoyed the friendship aspect of it and their conflict, that the captain and the doctor had to make sacrifices even though it was going against each others will. The only thing i didnt like was the whole superstition thing, even though i get that this is what actually sailors thought back in the day.
>>
>>62885123
>didnt like
If by that you mean "felt uncomfortable watching them being so retarded and felt sorry for the kid who died because of it", I agree.
>>
>>62885056
First half was pretty awesome but the 2nd half was a drag Tbh FaM
>>
>>62885089
what do think of days of heaven??

i haven't watched badlands yet,but will watch it today.
>>
>>62885089
Winter sleep wasn't about sending a message to begin with.I thought it was pretty much pessimistic in nature.

Can't really argue about badlands though, really one of malick's best.
>>
>>62885196
2nd half was meant to be that way you twit
it was perfect.
>>
>>62885251

i didnt liked it, iv rewatched like the three of life and the thin red line which is used to love as a kid and badlands for the first time.

and badlands is very fucking good, make you sad that malick didnt pursue this basic story line film.
you are in for a ride, it's actually pretty close to perfection.

is there any movie compared to badlands from or not from malick someone could recommend ?
>>
>>62884930

not him, but Under the Skin for me was a visceral experience on the level that none other movie made me feel. For me every decision of the director was perfect, it's a closest thing to the masterpiece.
>>
>>62885322
did you watched it in a theater ??
>>
>>62885056
>tfw this movie will never get released near where I live
>>
>>62884930
At first I thought it was a bit much, trying to be vague on purpose. But it was so eerie and moody, it really stuck with me and kept me thinking about it. Right after I saw it I doubted that I'd see it again, but I just keep thinking about certain scenes, and the whole feeling of the movie. plus, that scene where the guys are in the mysterious ooze together and the one dude gets his body sucked out of his skin suddenly. 2spoopy
>>
>>62885374

Nah, passed it when it was screened in festival in my city, so only watched it about a year later on my laptop, lol.
>>
>>62885318
thelma and lousie is kinda close.
>>
>>62885159
>>62885123

The great thing is that they are both experts in their own particular area, and almost clownishly ignorant in others, yet they are united in their love for music and mutual friendship.

The really frustrating thing is that there's enough material in the books to make a dozen awesome movies, from wartime europe, to the horn of africa, asia, the mauritians, america.
>Stephen is actually an intelligence agent who uses his education and fluency to gather information while onshore. Jack drops him off and picks him up to capitalize on the information he gathers

>Jack cruising the coastal waters in the Mediterranean, capturing prizes and landing marines at night to assault isolated coastal forts.

>Stephen is captured and tortured by french forces, Jack leads sailors and marines to free him.

>Jack and Stephen compete for the same woman back home in England.

>Jack provides an escort for Merchantmen to Southeast Asia, Stephen works with local spy network to undermine the french efforts to install a leader favorable to their country.

And on and on and on. Literally volumes of great movies that could be made.

Oh well.
>>
>>62885318
i didn't liked the days of heaven either.
Don't know why so many regards it to be his best.
>>
>>62885463

they are lured by the better photography i guess, happens a lot today.
>>
>>62885378
i watched it in the film festival recently.

the quality was shit and the crowd was filled with femcunts, uppity hipsters and neckbeards who reeks of autism.
>>
>>62885512
I'm just hoping it'll pop up on a stream service soon, it looks interesting
>>
>>62885409
that one scene had me too.
That one was a Fucking GOAT in my honest opinion.
>>
>>62885426
care to send a decent link for that film??
>>
First movie that ever brought tears to my eyes
>>
>>62885409

I agree, kept thinking about it days after.

I'll be honest, the scene with the baby ruined it for me. I don't know what they were doing to that kid, but he wasn't acting. If you're a parent, there is a certain kind of cry that just pushes your buttons, and I was getting physically agitated watching it. I just felt like it was a cheap shot, really obvious manipulation.

The great part about what your spoilered is that they both seem so calmly bewildered, and then reach out, seeking some kind of human contact.
>>
>>62885490
> lured by the better photography
>happens a lot today.

Ida ????
>>
>>62885534
don't get your hopes up...
won't spoil it but It requires a 2nd view.
>>
>>62885580
The scene with the baby was pretty uncomfortable too, because you know that it isn't acting. They just let it be there until it started wailing. I forget whatthe news said while she was in the van after that. Did the mother and father, and tourist die? The mother got swept out going after her first kid right?

won't say much of a disturbing one tho.

>>

Apart from the "fake one take shot" gimmick which is kinda dizzying, birdman was actually pretty good. But it was so much hyped some even said it was better than 8 1/2.

kinda reminds me of gravity.
>>
>>62885688
nice one anon.
>>
>>62885565
You should see more then.
Not saying that it is any less than a masterpiece.
>>
>>62885809

oh my god yeah, it's was just wasted potential, btw if i advise mission to mars, i have a long 45 minute segment about a space mission going bad, which is far better executed and more immersiv than in gravity

but i think it's more about technicaly accomplishment. Like thousands of costume, places and extras all perfectly choreographed, even if it's boring, i think it'll worth a watch

Same exact rankings here. The Straight Story is 3rd

Inland Empire is kind of a mess, but its a fun mess.
>>

>>62888865
The straight story actually proved the fact that lynch isn't actually a hack ..
>>
>>62888931
What do you mean by hack?
Because if anything the Straight Story is the least characteristically Lynch and the most like any other director's movie
>>
Surprisingly better than I expected. A shame I've apparently seen his last movie worth anything with this one.
>>
>>62889002
i never said he was a hack. Many actually think he his one because of his usual lynchian characteristics, they often say he can't make a "traditionally good movie"....These often come from those who never saw the elephant man or this one.
