Don't blasters fire projectives of some sort? I remember examples of them saying they are out of ammo or throwing down guns that don't fire anymore

Actually, since lightsabers are plasma, let's compare it to lighting which is around 50k degrees F. Lead boils at around 3100 F. The lead would vaporize on contact. You can melt lead with a cigarette lighter in about 5 seconds, by the way.
