good choice, far and away his best movie
I love the scene with Clint and the blind kid when the kid admits to never having killed anyone before
>>62784698
I simply do not understand the love for Zodiac. It's just much too slow and dry for me. If you like that, okay. But a lot of people seem to LOVE it and in this case, think it's Fincher's best. I prefer Social Network and Se7en by far.
Does anyone care to make a case for Zodiac?
>>62784822
>>62785105
Such a good scene. He hitting the bottle again, knowing he has to go fuck some niggas up.
>>62785105
Gran Torino and Mystic River are quite good, but Unforgiven is his best.
>>62785145
Zodiac is a great film. Its a toss up between Se7en and Zodiac for me.
>>62785079
Good pick. Clint can make shitty films but he's able to do great things like this one.
>>62785172
Rear Window is my favorite Hitchcock, but I think Vertigo has greater artistic merit.
>>62785145
Agreed. Zodiac is good but overrated by this board.
Mannboys will twist and scream at this but deep down they know it's 100% true
>>62785145
I'm not really sure how to make a case for a movie someone doesn't like, I doubt my words will convince you the movie isn't what you watched yourself.
Anyway, I think Zodiac's obsessive attention to detail is what always intrigues me the most about it. No matter how many times I watch the movie, every time I sit down with it I am entirely compelled by every direction that the case moves in, all of the details make it feel as though the case is bound to burst open and reveal itself if you just follow closely enough. I think what is so good about this is that the movie ultimately becomes a rather clever metaphor for what most of us experience in our lives, a desperate search for meaning and coherency that ultimately ends with us in the dark, finding no answers. I think the entire movie is incredibly tense, beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and full of very minute, subtle moments of quiet human fragility. It's also anxiety-inducing and just extremely entertaining throughout. One of the best of the 21st century imo.
>>62785241
I dunno man. Heat is pretty fucking good, but I may be a bit biased since I saw Heat in the theater and Thief at home.
>>62785145
It's the best movie ever made about the relationship between violence in America and the news media in America, and it only gets more relevant with each mass shooting or terrorist attack.
t b h
I know someone out there appreciates this as much as me.
>>62785249
Lol, I feel like you're a bit jaded by the internet and this board. I'm totally open to new perspectives. Sometimes you hear something or learn a new thing about a film and can appreciate it in a totally new light. Additionally, like I said, I don't quite understand why people seem to love it so much because no one has ever made a case for it to me.
That said, I appreciate the response. I'll try to get a little more into that mindset. I might actually rewatch tonight if I can.
>>62785313
Absolutely wrong. Watch more film, kid.
>>62785313
I like this cover. Way better than that Kino one that doesn't seem to be related to the movie at all.
>>62784854
Vertigo is widely believed to be Hancock's best, and 2001 isn't far behind. Not really b8 friend.
>>62785151
This was his worst, utterly joyless movie.

I like most of Linklater's work, and he's my favorite director. We're free to discuss why we think the movies we choose are best, it's just an opinion.
The Before trilogy is one of my favorite film series because it hits home on a lot of subtext for relationships. The way the themes presented are executed makes them great and the dialogues are incredibly well paced. Midnight is Linklater doing what he does best.
A Scanner Darkly feels to me like a PKD fan film Linklater was pretty excited to make. In all honesty I have no qualms with the direction he chose, and having read the original story, it fits, but I'm not convinced this was a good transition from text to film. I'm fine with elaborating, but you're free to express what you think.

you should watch OUATIA in its 4 hour cut bro. The extra 30-40 minutes in its full restoration don't honestly add that much to the movie and I'd say the 4 hour cut that's available is the superior film.
