Yeah, I thought it was because I watched them as a kid.. but I just watched The Living Daylights last night and Im still not sure I knew what the fuck I was watching.
From what I could figure out... A fake russian defector wants brits to think another russian dude is ordering the killing agents so they will kill that russian dude because they want to cover up the purchase of weapons which are actually diamonds which are being used to buy heroin from the pre-taliban??? I feel like I missed out on some pretty crucial plot points in spectre.

>blofeld was behind everything bond was involved with in the past few years
>new intelligence guy was working with blofeld so they could set up a massive surveillance state
>former blofeld crony is dying so he reluctantly helps bond find his daughter
>bond and bond girl take out blofeld and stop the NSA thing
What am I missing? Typing it out seems to make sense but while I was watching it I felt very confused.

Nope, that's pretty much the whole thing. The whole "Spectre was behind everything" thing made no sense, especially trying to connect Silva to the other shit, because they came up with it out of the blue to make this movie. Quantum, on the other hand, was part of Casino Royale. Silva was a good standalone villain. But some hack on the writing staff said "what if an even bigger, scarier, and more unknown organization was behind Quantum which was behind Le Chiffre?" And then it happened.
I didn't dislike Spectre, but the stupid fucking scene with the Specte meeting has to be one of the worst things in a movie in recent memory.
