His thing is he was a touring comedian for like two decades and never really made until he got so fucked up on drugs and alcohol and raped by divorces he had to quit. Then had was broke and had no skills so he started interviewing his comedian friends in his garage. He was in the scene so long he knows EVERY comedian so he had cool guests and was eventually able to diversify to interview actors, musician, directors, etc. too and somewhere along the lines got really good at interviewing.
