Look, I'm not trying to be mean, so don't take my post wrong. Let's start off with the fact that Kiefer says that he, himself likes to categorize film in three different things. That's what he does, but that does not mean that there is an actual difference between the three, because it's subjective what he sees in these movies and how he ranks them.
Now, the real question is. Who decides if a movie/film (whatever) is made for the audience or the filmmakers? Someone could say Transformers is a film, because it shows how filmmakers should not make motion pictures.
What I'm trying to say, is that it's pretty much subjective. There are some exceptions, like Michael Snow's Wavelength. Which is probably one of the most 'artistic' film around and is not exactly meant for your daily doses of entertainment (it depends on what you call entertainment though). I guess it's mostly up to the viewer to decide if it's a film (artistic and theoretical like Taxi Driver) or a movie (focuses on entertainment and easy storytelling like The Wolf Of Wall Street).

I completely agree with you. 25+26 were incredibly blunt about the issues they brought up, they're essentially recapping the problems that Shinji went through in the prior series itself (which were already essentially dealt with by the few episodes beforehand), but now you're handed them on a platter without any of the accompanying drama. And yes, the Congratulations scene was either stupid, or dramatically incoherent. Taken at face value, Shinji accepts his flaws and the inherent inability of truly understanding others as others, but taking it as a genuine message of self acceptance strikes me as juvenile. On the other hand, you can see it as a pathetic, desperate act of self affirmation from someone who couldn't stand up to the people he's being praised by in his imaginary world in real life. Either way, it is narratively and thematically unsatisfying.
The idea that they are essentially the 'true patrician' ending of the series is nonsense. If anything, it's episode 24 that does the best job of capping off the series and its themes of anything so far, including EoE.

I won't deny this, but I still find it far more satisfying than anything else. It really is fantastic when you actually understand the lyrics to Beethoven/Schiller and how they parallel what's happening. It all comes tumbling down, especially going by the intent Anno's raw original lyrics, is startlingly underwhelming in comparison.

Yes, it's great piece of art that speaks to the heart through its characters, to the mind through it's narrative and exposition, to the eyes through its animation and masteful shot composition. Only things in animation that come closer to it among full features are works like Angel's Egg, Belladonna of Sadness, Alice or Feherlofia. Though I don't think any of these create such a perfect balance of the elements I mentioned.

You can say Asuka but the reveal of her mother residing in Eva Unit 2 only gave more confidence in her piloting ability at the time, but the scenes during the mind meld before Instrumentality truly takes off picks up back where the series left off and influences her action during the last scene.
Shinj is in a worst state than he ever was because of episode 24's events.

To me the Rebuilds kind of cheapen Evangelion as a whole. People seem to compare Anno to George Lucas with NGE+EoE = Original Trilogy and Rebuilds = Prequels, and I agree with this sentiment. Especially when you compare how the merchandising worked for both franchises during the original NGE/OT run, after the original series run, and during the run of the Rebuilds/Prequels. I think Anno is just using the piles of money he gets to finance projects like Animator Expo which is a set of animated shorts, sometimes experimental in nature made by different people from the industry, often young ones. Maybe he's also planning on using it to finance bigger projects in the future for Khara, his new company.
At least that's what I hope it is. Doesn't really justify the rebuilds but could at least have something good come out of them.
