You can change it, you just need to change the poster on the movie database:

I think you need an account there. Then just notify the Letterboxd team that the poster was changed and they'll modify it.

I'm guessing you don't have a lot of friends or social interaction so I'll share a tidbit of knowledge with you.

People discuss current events with each other, even if it's just to express disgust over a terrorist attack or send commiserations to people murdered by a pack of wild durkas. It's literally one of the building blocks of human interaction. If you get out the house every once in awhile you'll learn not everything is some insidious liberal plot to get you to spread your cheeks for Syrian refugees.
>>
>>62757378
>hurr durr you have no friends

Your projection is duly noted kiddo but my post was directed at a very specific type of shiftless liberal who would rather change his Facebook photo to a picture of the French flag superimposed over his face than take measures to ensure such attacks don't happen again. I know this because I actually do have friends and don't unironically accuse people of believing in an "insidious liberal plot" from the safety of his insulated suburban home

>>
>>62761575
Fuck off, half stars are cancer. If you want a 10 point rating system then do -/10.
The whole purpose of the 5 star rating system is it's accessibility as a graphically presented 5 point rating system.
>>
>>62761635
Just one guy, his name is JoJo.
>>
>>62761575
>please add half stars
gah, I wrestled with that for ages and ended up going without them. half stars gives you the illusion of rating out of 5, but you're just rating out of 10.

at some point the scale has to be sufficient enough to not need pseudo-scientific tinkering, because you can't really put a number on subjectivity. I don't want some kind of Pitchfork-esque formula to the ratings. 5 is enough.

Rotten tomatoes got big off of turing-style binary ratings anyway. The simpler you get across your taste to an audience, the better.

then make it like/dislike. the simpler the better, right?

seriously though, i do find that 5 stars makes it harder when seeking out new films because it misses that added specificity and makes you less sure of what youre getting into. that distinction between 7 & 8 (out of 10) is important imo

>>
>>62761972
Well rotten tomatoes sure gets a lot of traction off a simple like/dislike, as did Ebert. The point is ratings are arbitrary compared to articulated thoughts. That's where most of the debate should take place, not between a 7 or an 8. That difference is different for everybody.

Plus half stars require me to put more math in the code and math is hard.
>>
>>62763022
The solution: no half stars (they're autistic), and allow comments on logged ratings that don't have a review coupled with them
>>
>>62762942
I'm making it as a hobby, mainly for myself.

No tv yet. Adding it wouldn't be hard, but it would take up a lot more resources and divert my attention, so for now im just concentrating on movies.
>>
>>62763022
>Well rotten tomatoes sure gets a lot of traction off a simple like/dislike, as did Ebert.

i dont follow. rottentomatoes is out 100 and eert uses half stars

>The point is ratings are arbitrary compared to articulated thoughts. That's where most of the debate should take place

of course. any rating system is arbitrary , the point is to choose which arbitrary rating system suits best.
>>
>>62763151
why the fuck did LB ever remove that again
>>
>>62763263
I meant the aggregated critic reviews. They flatten every rating into a like/dislike in order to efficiently convey whether a film is recommendable or not. A 5 scale rating refines that without going too overboard. I mean if you're rating out of 10, why not 100, like pitchfork or metacritic. At some point you have to settle for an arbitrary approximation of your feelings and save the rest for prose.
>>
>>62763151
I'm fine with allowing comments on logged but not reviewed films as long as they allow you to delete shit.

I don't want to have to deal with autistic faggots spamming memes or asking inane questions and shit.

>>

Because sometimes I don't want to write a review for everything but I would welcome discussion / questions about why I rated something the way I did
>>
>>62763771
>At some point you have to settle for an arbitrary approximation of your feelings and save the rest for prose.

i know bruh, its all arbitrary, i know. but you ahvent argued for why 5 specifically is beter than 10.

my argument for 10 ratings is that offers a more accurate overview for the movie. when i see 10/10 i think unmissable, cream of the crop, but when i see 5/5 i think "that couldve been a 4.5/5 just forced into a 5/5" and am less sure if it matches what im looking for.

for this reason i actually find that 5 stars makes me WANT to read the reviews more to get a clearer intrepretation, but when youre scouring through hundreds of reviews and ratings shit gets overwhelimg and ultimately defeating, coz you cant read em all.

>>62764211

follow anybody good lately?
>>
>>62771466
No, I haven't had a single person follow me who

1. Has decent taste in my eyes
2. Reviews every film he watches
3. Has a reviewing style I don't consider annoying

Call me whatever, the point is, whats the point of friending someone if you don't get good recs from them?

>boring taste, yet demands for others to be super interesting
>doesn't follow anyone because he is too cool for school
>wants people to, forcefully, review every movie they watch
>only befriends people to get something out of them
>hasn't even logged all movies he has watched

How do i write 'good ' reviews on lb, to earn followers?
>>
>>62771635
not trying to be rude, but you're part of the problem then
>>
>>62773194

This guy speaks truth.

Look at the biggest faggots on LB and look at their faggot reviews and you will see that they indeed do have the most likes.

This faggot is a prime example of the faggotry that abounds;
