I saw this in some small arthouse theatre with like 6 other people after all the early hype. It was literally the worst movie I ever paid to see. I despised every second but waited to see if there was something coming that would somehow make me see the movie in a new light. That never happened. When the end credits began I started shaking uncontrollably, so overcome with rage. I sat there trembling for the entire duration of the credits, after which everyone else had left and I shouted at the top of my voice "literally reddit the movie"

Convinced it only got acclaim because of SJWs wanting to fly the flag for "muh female director".

Rotten Tomatoes is either broken, or we are in the plebian era. It goes here.

It's not bad but not very good either. Not very well paced, the kid's acting was cringe-inducing, not that the rest of the cast were any better, and the ending was terrible. It's one of those movies that are worth checking out if they just happen to be playing on tv, but I wouldn't recommend actually going out of your way to see it. There is just so much better stuff out there, good stuff, stuff that doesn't have to rely on marketing gimmicks and memes to generate buzz.

You do when you know literally nothing about it you tard.

Why do people say this? The kid was such a good actor. He acts just how a kid would act

>>62734046
not really

the only thing about it that's stuck with me in the slightest is some of the uncanniness i felt while watching it

No I wouldn't, the world doesn't work like it does on TV, movies aren't a part of some secret society.

Your bosses didn't tell you you can stop shilling this here? It's been a year. You fooled plenty of au/tv/ists into seeing it, it's shit, give it up.

Those of you who hate this movie, I'd love to hear your recommendations on GOOD horror films that were made in the last 5 years.

Go on, I'm waiting.

You are juvenile about horror, that's all there is to it.

I actually watched this 20 minutes ago for the first time and I have to say, it DID NOT live up to
/tv/ hype. Literally the first eerie thing to happen occurs at exactly halfway through the movie (the part where the book shows the scarier babadook posessing the mom). I thought this would be a major plot catalyst, but the movie literally only declines in quality from there. Seriously, there were only 3 good scenes in this "horror movie": the parts where we actually HEAR THE MONSTER THE MOVIE IS NAMED AFTER. The whole "I'm possessed and going crazy" aspect made me miss when the babadook was still disembodied and actually fucking scary

Love it when someone reveals this to be the shitstain it is. You can just picture all of the neckbeards scrambling around clutching their fedoras to their heads screaming "this can't be happening", frantically tapping at their keyboards

SJWs, my friend. The hip trendy bloggers praise a bad film for political reasons. All the redditors who can't think for themselves parrot what they've heard their authority figures praise and then the meme gets bigger and bigger. It's left to people like us, those trained in cinema and free from political shackles to be able to see the film for what it actually is.

Not that great. 6 or 7ish but nothing spectacular, and still far far behind of the best horror movie ever made (pic related).

You're right it wasn't. But it was portrayed as one.

It's average. Just cause it scores high doesn't mean it's better than others. It just means that it's popular.

I liked Blair Witch, but it's bad when a newer movie with a bigger budget and more actors and effects is a snorefest in comparison.
