It's a lot of improv, the acting isn't always perfect (especially Julian) but the writing, tone and themes of the show are top quality. There's a sincere logic to the world of Trailer Park Boys, but it hangs right on the edge of our reality just to indulge in insanity.
I'd say it is very good, but some episodes are less enjoyable than others. It's what I'd call comfy, it's highly watchable and surprisingly innoffensive; there's no racial or sexual hate in the show, people are loathed for being stupid, lazy and drunk but it never deals with anything heavier than, say, alcoholism taken to the point of insanity.
As far as watching order goes, if you don't want to commit to chronological order I recommend starting with Season 7. People will disagree, but those fuckeys don't understand why S7 was important.
It's not the best, funniest or most consistent, the tone is different and it's just sillier than the previous seasons, but it informs you on the characters in a way that makes watching them evolve through seasons 1 to 6 very rewarding. If not S7, start at Season 3, which is arguably the best.
I've never watched this show though I've heard about it.

The focus on bubbles ruined the show from S4-5 onwards. All of a sudden he was some kind of retard savant who made monkey noises when he ran and wanted his belly tickled. Shit was fucking jarring.
