They're very good films. I've not read the work that The Double was based on but I saw it with a friend of mine who is a big Dostoevsky fan who was convinced it was unadaptable but afterwards he thought it was the best film of the year.

Well take my word for it that Hunger and Shame are great films and if you think Darkplace is funny you'll find Black Dynamite funny.
If it were just the 80s pastiche it would be great but the interview sections elevate it to a whole other level. The fact they created an entire episode that was intentionally running out of ideas just to make a joke shows some real commitment.

That's the big thing Dakplace gets right that no other intentionally "so bad it's good" work does. What ultimately makes a "so bad it's good" film or show funny is the insights into the people who made it that you gather from watching the film. When you watch The Room you learn so much about Tommy Wiseau the person. You learn what a peculiar view on the world he has, you learn what he's insecure about, you learn how he's views women and it's all insane and that's what makes The Room funny. The framing device for Darkplace is so perfect because if it was just "a lost bad show" it would be okay at best but instead we get great scenes like when Garth reads his book in show and praises how good it is and we realize that Garth is insecure about his books and how people view them. That's something that seriously laking from something like Danger 5 (still good) or Kung Fury (not so good).
