Is this movie any good?
Not really.
It's trash, but entertaining trash, it's full on exploitation with no message, just a litany of wanton violence and sadism.
>>62627831
It's decent. Not really anything special. If you've already exhausted Park's films and want more of that ilk, give it a shot
>>62627853
oh ok then.
>>62627831
Worth watching for the opening scene alone. Scary shit.
>>62627831
No, it's fucking great and the message is simple, but it's told really well.
heck yeah it's good. Great action sequences.
babby's third Korean film (after Oldboy and Memories of Murder in most cases)
>>62629028
There are only like 5 Korean films worth watching.
Shit movie. It was his daughter all along.
It's bad unless you like extremely simple and basic plots/movies/etc.
Most Korean movies are shit.
Get into Japanese Movies instead, they are a lot better and more creative.
>>62629264
Any recommendations?
One of the worst Korean flicks I ever saw, don't bother.
Not a great movie by any means, but it does what it wants to do VERY well. It has been the only movie to actually give me anxiety. Memories of Murder will forever be my favourite Korean film and one of my top movies in general.
>>62627831
Yes it is. Never piss off a secrent agent, even if you are a serial killer.
>>62627831
>G.I. Joe's Storm Shadow vs Oldboy
Place your bets guise
>>62629141
1) Memories of Murder
2) Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
3) The Host
4) Oldboy
5) The Good, The Bad, and the Weird
6?) Sympathy for Mr Vengeance
7?) I Saw The Devil
8?) Snowpiercer
9?) Thirst
not even counting comedies
Awesome. If you liked it watch The Chaser.
The Man from Nowhere is great. Like John Wick but better.
>>62630479
Not listing the #1 Korean film "The Man out of nowhere"
Opinion discarded
>>62629737
I didn't like it. Way too action-oriented and edgy, the plot is shit, the whole movie plays out like a Tom & Jerry episode, the bad guy escapes from a certain capture like 10 times. It's hilariously lame and it destroys your immersion so badly that the ending (which is good) doesn't even hit you.
>>62630479
>no JSA
pleb.
>>62631562
Is this Linda Linda lite?
>>62627861
>every movie needs a message
>>62633341
its like a jap version of school of rock but even more comfy
>>62633823
>>62631562
Seriously?
The guy asks you to recommend him ANY japanese movie from ANY year by ANY one of the great japanese directors and you recommend him fucking japanese version of school of rock?
>>62633872
I didnt give the rec i just said what its about
>>62629737
Pulse
Confessions
memories of matsuko
Branded to kill
Funeral parade of roses
>>62627831
It's okay. Lot's of pointless gore and violence. Plot trips over itself to ensure the logic isn't followed and continues the wild ride.
>>62629737
Everything from takeshi kitano up until Dolls, after that he only made shit.
>>62629737
Cure
High and Low
The Bad Sleep Well
Tokyo Fist
Tetsuo The iron Man
Gozu
Charisma
Noroi (great horror)
Also, +1 for Pulse and Branded To Kill the guy upstairs recommended, but Confessions was kinda lame, it's filmed very weirdly, like a feature length music video.
>>62627831
Yes. Just wait the taxi scene.
>>62631562
UK BLU-RAY RELEASE WHEN?
>>62633872

Fantastic film. Very well made and great acting.
>>62629264
Modern japs can't act for shit though sмн твн faм.
>>62629737
A couple of films by each of these directors should help you find your way:
Sion Sono
Ozu
Seijun Suzuki
Takeshi Miike
Takeshi Kitano
Masaki Kobayashi
Nigisa Oshima
Akira Kurosawa
Shohei Imamura
Ishiro Honda
>>62634470
>Takeshi Miike
The guy who made Kurozu and this?

>>62634351
This.
I hate kimchiland but their movies are way better than modern japs ones.
>>62634678
Yeah. The guy has made dozens of films, he has a varied output.
I'd recommend Audition, 13 Assassins and Gozu
>>62633872
You're judging a book by its cover, or a movie by its poster.
>>62634470
Eh, speaking of Sion Sono. Can you recommend anything along the lines of Keiko Desu Kedo? Like it's a boring film, but it's a really interesting romp in minimalism and using a single character.
>>62637095
most of his earlier stuff before suicide circle
>>62630479
>The Yellow Sea
>The Chaser
>A Bittersweet Life
>A Dirty Carnival
>>62637390
Sweet, cheers.
>>62630479

Everytime a Korean film thread gets created, it eventually becomes a Japanese film discussion towards the end.
>>62630479
>didn't list The Yellow Sea
>>62627831
I thougt the final third was pretty weak, but the ending kinda makes up for it
just die in my sleep already
What is up with South Korea and revenge porn?
>>62630479
>no Kim Ki-duk
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>62638747
literally autism
>>62627831
is an excellent film in many ways, a classic in its onw genre, but you won't like it unless you are into gore stuff and such
>>62638745
The Korean expression of butthurt towards more successful neighbors like CHina and Japan.
Who raped them. Even Korean nationalism is based on asshurt and revenge.
>>62638486
Having lived in both countries and talked to cinephiles and filmmakers in both countries. Japan has the long history and Korea is the up and comer. Give korea time.
>>62633760
he didn't implied it needed a message faglord
korean films are garbage and that fag from oldboy is a fucking bad actor
