Bad. The opening, with its stupid long takes and long (and boring) helicopter fight, could have just as easily been accomplished in a meeting or by spying with a computer. It was overly-done.
The villain was cliche. Rich guy who wants to destroy gets a scar on his face running down his eye socket, thus impairing his vision. And he attempts a getaway in a helicopter. It was basically a fancier Scooby Doo plot.
It was missing what made Skyfall and Casino Royale - danger. I mean legitimate danger, not Daniel Craig being tied up and about to be blown up, but escaping two seconds before a bomb explodes. I mean danger that's more interesting than something a comic book writer could come up with in three minutes.
Second half was alright.
First one was abhorrent.

I got legitimately angry when that piece of shit got best original song. It was clear he shat it out in an afternoon, but that didn't matter because you couldn't understand him since he sang entirely in whines.

What is it with Bonds that they are cyclically either good or bad? There's no real excuse for Spectre to be as messy and soulless at is it. Directed by Mendes and similar crew who did Skyfall. There was just no tension, the action wasn't that cool, Bond was bored, Bond girl was yet another le strong independent woman, Batista was comical, villain was literally le quirky tarantino man. There was no real charm, nothing funny, no chemistry, just boring bland shit. The pacing also felt strangely off, like almost as if nothing was really happening and then when the action came, it felt convoluted and uninteresting. Political "suble" messages about surveillance etc were so hamfisted and basically unnecessary, further cementing the film in 2015, making it appear much more dated in the future than say Casino Royale or Skyfall.
I'm glad Craig is no longer doing Bond. He was great in Casino Royale but ever since he has been bored, never more evident than in Spectre. His line delivery is like it's a chore to him. He seems bored, frustrated, depressed.
He said that the shoot for Spectre was extremely difficult? Has there been any interviews where he explains what the difficulties actually were? I mean I guess the locations were a bit tricky but that is literally every Bond movie.
