Pic related. Just watched Starry Nights. Thought it was awesome.

Any recommendations of others along that and these lines?

That movie was atrocious, my man.

The only time I ever see it mentioned here is when I post it, but this leaves me feeling punched in the stomach every time I finish it. It got a Criterion release a long time ago, but it is very unknown. I heard about it from a hardcore horror collector like fifteen years ago, and I still consider it one of my favorite horror films. Avoid the shit remake though.

Ok, last decade ones.

This movie is flawless and haunting. It's one of those movies where absolutely everything it does just works. God damn.
>>
>>54868374
Awful movie

>kill list
>horror
>>
>>54868538
I think more than half of those are 5/10 at best. That's just my opinion though. It feels like horror has been so shit for so long that people are much more lax with calling mediocre horror films great.
>>
>>54868538
Is Babadook any good? I just got back from It Follows, and I loved it.
>>
>>54868590
There's no era where there were more than 10 great horror films. Horror is a challenging genre so this whole "these days" thing is moot. Hell, in the past year we got The Babadook and It Follows.

suspiria
>>
>>54868628
If you're the slightest bit interested, you should totally watch it.
>>
>>54868628
The Babadook seems to be very polarizing, so I wouldn't rely too much on anyone's opinion here. I haven't seen the full thing yet so I can't say though. I just got back from It Follows a few hours ago and loved it too. I can't wait to see what that guy does next.

That's all true, but I could never defend anyone calling American Mary great in any aspect.
>>
Spoorlos is great.

Thanks for the recs so far.
>>
>>54868538

Get American Mary out of that. Fucking hell.
>>
>>54868707
True.
Films like Mama and Sinister missed the mark, but you can tell the filmmakers tried. It was a labor of love. Stuff like The Hills Have Eyes and A Serbian Film are just actively terrible shock-value schlock through and through.

Lake Mungo is the scariest film I've ever seen.

Nice input. What do you like with your refined tastes?

>>54868648
A lot of the movies I enjoy on my list are really only 6-7/10 to me. Anything that's unique and memorable stand out and for whichever reason hit the mark.
>>
>>54868805
I think I've avoided Lake Mungo because the name sounds so stupid (bad reason I know), I'll definitely give it a shot.

Dark-Water-2002-movie-1.jpg

Back in high school I was obsessed with Asian horror for a short time, and I remember watching the original Dark Water and that one scene at the end filled me with more fear and dread than I've experienced since seeing The Exorcist as a little kid. I don't remember if the whole film could be considered great, or if it has aged well, but if you haven't seen it I would definitely recommend it.

Which reminds me, what ever happened to /hor/?

Good movie. I wouldn't really consider it traditional "horror" though. Maybe thriller.
Nice delving into the mind of a psycho.

I guess I could start doing that again.

Please do sir/mam
>>
>>54868587
uff, if you think rosemary's baby if horror you have to admit this one is too. The laugh at the end was creepy as hell
>>54868590
well, maybe you are right about this last decade is really bad in horror, but this list is the best I can think off.
>>54868628
yes, it's really good, great atmospheric, works at many levels kinda movie.Late phases is better tho.
>>54868750
I really like American mary, it was fun, if you are checking every horror new release like I do you will see that "fun" it's not a very recurrent thing in 00's movies, so I appreciate it.
>>
>>54868472
It's not that unknown, Jesus Christ.
It's really good though.
>>
>>54871927
It's kind of an obscure film dude, what are you whining about?
>>
>>54872035
It got a Criterion release and it was remade with Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock. It's on a bunch of horror charts and it's mentioned frequently in horror threads here.
>>
>>54868538
>Late Phases
Fuck yeah, probably not a great horror film but one hat I enjoyed he hell out of.
>>
>>54868538
Deadgirl was so disturbing, had a great atmosphere aswell.
>>
>>54872126
>Criterion release = not obscure
>forgotten/panned remake = not obscure
>mentioned on /tv/ = not obscure

um ok

>>54872207
You literally didn't say anything in your post.

lol what a retard

there, by your logic i just proved someone that believes gravity exists wrong with a simple greentext
>>
>>54868401
This. Only good part was where she is in the producers house.
>>
>>54868538
>The Skin I live in
>horror
>The Babameme
>>
>>54872358
I know it's a thriller but in some ways reminds me of martyrs, there is blood, of course it's almodovar so it's plenty of comedy but you can't tell that isn't at least creepy.
>>54872204
>>54872166
muh niggers
I wish dead girl was more recommended here, it's realle awesome
