Can we agree that this is one of the best cinema experiences of all time?

>that launch scene
>that wormhole scene
>those aren't mountains...
>the special effects
>the soundtrack
>those heroic sacrifices

Ending kind of ruins it, but it was seriously a spectacle to watch.

Bravo Nolan, simply Bravo.
>>
I agree that it was the best experience I had in a movie theater, but you picked bad examples
>Docking scene explosion
>"because my dad promised me"
>all of the soundtrack
>23 years of messages scene
>based TARS

Not even a pleb by this board's standards, but goddamn if this wasn't one of the best movies I've ever seen, at least in the theater. There are a few plotholes, some of the pacing could have been improved, but it was such an experience seeing it in theaters that I'll never forget it.

I certainly loved it, OP

Honestly it's much more memorable than the "best" movies as determined by the Oscars and critics like Birdman or King's Speech and shit or even the Martian and Gravity which it's more compared to.

It already has a cultural cornerstone like The Dark Knight and Inception were.
>>
The best soundtrack ever. Literally.
>>
>>64657345
This was me senpai. Fucking IMAX made it ten times better, it was definitely the most memorable movie experience I've had. If they ever release it in theaters again I'm going to trip acid next time.

My two friends and I made a pact that if Interstellar gets released in IMAX again, no matter where as long as it's in the US, we are gonna go and watch it high on 600 mg of DXM.

It would truly be an experience.
>>
>>64657391

I agree, all the winners of the Oscar for "Best Picture" of this decade are extremely bland and forgettable. At least Interstellar tried to be something else, even if it had many problems in my opinion, it was a decent experience.

Seriously, nobody remembers Gravity or Argo, and it was less than 4 years ago.

I didn't mind the ending, but when he is in that spectrum of colours library, I wish he hit the end of the universe and that's what it looked like.

not a future human made place, but the actual end of the universe, end of time, everything. And it's just a spectrum of the colours we know.

What if the crop blight was with them all along on the Interstellar ship? Wouldn't that make all their efforts useless?

They can't beat it on Earth with all the labs, how are they going to beat it on the new colony?
>>
>>64657785
The way the first half builds, the aspect ratio changes, the dialogue -- everything. It was perfect.
>>

it's solid masterpiece until he end up in the book shelf inside the wormhole.
That's about 85% from the start.
>>
>>64657804
I have a better question - why didn't they just build huge domes, since they obviously can build spaceships.

I don't really understand what happened to efficiency of their agriculture that they need all to be farmers either. Like, crop failure, OK, by just having more redundant crops would only triple or so requirement for farming force.

They have incubators, they said this much. By the time incubators exhaust their resource, they should have enough women for in virto fertilization.

What would they eat? Well, I imagine they'd also have some ecosystem samples run on the same principle, but this was never clarified.

Checked

I said it once before, but that acting is just superb.

When most actors close their eyes tight during an emotional moment, they're clearly trying to make themselves cry.

Mcconnaughey does such a good job that it doesn't look like he's trying to make himself cry- it looks like he's legitimately holding back tears, like a father would in this scene.

Just incredible.

From my point of view there's too many cringe stuff in the first half for me to take the film seriously. That old guy throwing an one liner about how he prefers hotdogs over popcorn was shaking my head tier. Nolan lost his mind trying to recreate the atmosphere of an early spielberg film but he stepped up his writing game in the second half, when he focused on the spectacle and character dynamics.

The film is gorgeously shot though, its surprising to me that this aspect didn't have a lot of recognition.
>>
>>64657986
Because Matt Damon didn't have giant ship, he had smaller ship.

What's wrong with Mars? Hell if I know. I don't really understand why would they even consider planet so cold as Damon's to be a viable option. Solar energy input is probably biggest concern that is the hardest to adjust when you choose a planet to colonize.
>>
>>64657986
erm, because he was alone and didn't know for how long or if anyone was coming. was basically suicide when he froze himself, not knowing if anyone would ever come.
>>
>>64657776
This. Best ending is right as he's floating in nothingness after he exits the bookcase

They had relatively small ship too. No way they had more food on it than the hero of this Martian movie.

they even thought that the planet around the black hole is a viable option. Theyd be dead from radiation from accretion disk in seconds. And the time shit is also a good icing on the cake.

Don't tven use the word atmosphere when you talking about this shit. Frozen clouds suka frozen clouds that don't fall and stay up. What is this bullshit?

And round planet without the CORE? If this planet had a mass to become round and sustain atmosphere it has to have molten core of some sort and crust and shit. It cannot be hollow if its not artificial.

I loved it until the first love monlogue.
Before that it was visually stunning and paced just how I like it, not too slow, not too fast.
It was a movie about life and death, men vs the universe and its chaotic and indifferent nature, and heroism and sacrifice.

After that it's just a fast paced hollywwod action movie, with the villain, the deception, the fistfight, the explosions, the aliens, the spaceship chase, the plot twist.
Literally every goddamm murrica clichè in one hour.

I was so disappointed in the theatre. The first half had left me in awe so the fall was pretty hard.

Which one is this ? Is it when they are in the main ship and they have to decide wether they go on Edmund's planet or Damon's planet?
If it's this one, it was good stuff. Because later we finally realize they should have followed her love and go on Edmunds planet instead. Pretty big plot twist, and smart.
