It's generally accepted that series 8's best episodes are Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, and Flatline.
Time Heist is also popular, but somewhat controversial, as it's a bit on the silly side.
Robot of Sherwood, Kill the Moon, and In The Forest of the Night are all garbage.
Dark Water is great, but it's part 1 of the two-part finale, and Death In Heaven is a weak follow-up. Necessary for the overall series plotline, but weak.
Last Christmas is must-see.
Series 9: Magician's Apprentice/Witch's Familiar is trash except for one particular scene with Davros.
Under the Lake/Before the Flood has a very strong part 1 but slightly weaker part 2.
The Girl Who Died is okay at best. The Woman Who Lived is shit.
Zygon Invasion/Zygon Inversion was good, but became WAY too real after the Paris attacks.
Sleep No More is gimmicky and skippable. Fun ideas, shoddy execution.

Invasion was just CITY, COUNTRY for 50 minutes and felt incredibly loose and weird.

I honestly think Heaven Sent is the best episode of NuWho. It's more tightly written than Blink, the directing, acting, and score are all better than in Blink, and the monster is more terrifying, though that's partially due to the bullshit Moffat made the Angels go through afterwards.

Question about Heaven Sent: When the Doctor uses his dying body as fuel to kickstart the teleporter, he kind of evaporates after (along with all the blood he left behind). Is that to do with the teleporter rearranging his matter into what it originally was (a healthy body) or was it just kind of fading away as the castle reset itself, and a new body is "printed"?
If it's the former, then you could argue that the whole "he died" thing is nonsense, since it's the same body, just put back together healthy.

Rusty didn't really write it though, it was more Ben's thing (I love The Writer's Tale). The fact Moff hasn't had an e-mail ongoing convo like Ben and Rusty had for 5 years means if he does a book it won't be as impressive IMO.
However Moff has loads of e-mails he can use if he gets clearance. Rusty would let him use them, and they e-mail each other all the damn time. Some other writers and producers may also let it happen. Moff could fill in the blanks with what he remembers. It would be brilliant if he does it.
