Hey guys, I'll spending a night in Phuket, second week of Jan, and possibly a day (0800-1700) in Bangkok.
I plan on taking the train+bus from Bangkok to Phuket and staying at a semi decent hostel/hotel for the night there.
any advice on what to do/how to make the most of it also what not to do/avoid would be appreciated..

Bangkok is great, great atmosphere, tonnes to do.
Phuket is overun with tourism, everyone is trying to drag you into a shop, unless you really need to visit a beach I wouldn't bother.
The food is great everywhere, I also found tipping goes a lot further in places with little tourism (i.e local food places, or places in the city).
Regardless if they were all talking and snickering behind our backs, It was one of the best Asian countries I have been to
