I'm looking to exchange language lessons with someone nearby but the problem is, neither of us are teachers so we don't know the proper structure for the process.
Has anybody ever done this kind of thing that can offer any advice on a type of lesson plan of sorts for people that have zero teaching experience?
Checkout the syllabus online of a nearby uni. They usually post them. Basically just start with the essentials. Basic words and sentences that you use throughout the day. If you're looking for more detailed instructions check out an English for dummies or grammar book at your local library. Also, the internet. There really is no end to resources available to you, it's a matter of how you use them.

Fair point but I was looking for someone to point me to a guide that already existed
Bump for the hope that someone else has been through this type of situation before

>hey guys, can someone explain to me how to learn particle physics in a 200 word post on a mongolian pornography board?
no. no we can't.
if you don't have the attention span to learn basic conversational skills from a book, what makes you think you can learn the actual language?
if you have basic grammar skills and have built an intermediate vocabulary (which does not sound like it's the point you're at, but please feel free to specify,) then what you can do is this
you can have the person read a passage at their level in the language they are learning. at the end, the teacher can ask questions about the passage and have the learner answer them.
if you're not at this point, don't expect to get to this point by masturbating with your buddy on webcam.
there's nothing in a book that a live teacher can teach better than a curriculum from a book, that you read yourself, except for actual conversation practice and pronunciation. if you're too stupid to follow a curriculum, and send that curiculum to your partner so he knows what points to emphasize, then you're too stupid to learn

how can we point you to a curriculum for a language that we don't know you're studying?
