Fuck Etihad.
Oh, and getting being rebooked for a Turkish flight was a blessing after all. Some of the passengers were put in the very plane from the night before which was scheduled to start at 2pm and still parked at the gate when we took off at 6pm.

Nearly the same thing happened to my parents, also with Etihad. They got on the plane, already with 4 hours delay. Then onboard they were told, that due to an technical failure with one engine they cannot take off. It was 11pm, went to a hotel, waited a few hours and then got back to the airport. Noone at Etihad cared, they had to book by themselfs a different flight.
After getting back, Etihad refused to pay, since bird strike is not in their influence, though this happened days before and the plane was still flying from wherever they reside to Frankfurt. They sued them over two years and they finally paid only short before they were most likely sentenced at the European Court.
