I just applied for a job as a receptionist in hostel in the center of Berlin. Does somebody have experiences with this? What do I have to expect?

It's not high-brow or demanding work. But if you're outgoing, you can have fun whenever you like.

did you already do this? mind sharing some stories?

I found her standing in the doorway. Cute little thing, about 5'5" and 120 pounds. Red hair.
We ended up in a hostel private room that wasn't booked for that night. Only problem was she was autistic and her handler was looking for her the whole time.
Knew how to rub a chub though. Good for her.

The rates are really low, damn. How long do you plan on working there, if you get the job?
>>1118997
idk, didn't check the rates, maybe that wasn't too smart. can you recommend a better hostel?
>>1118997
I checked the ratings here

seems pretty ok. slamming doors and disco sounds wouldn't bother me while working

I meant the rates as in "prices", don't worry. I asked about the work as I don't know anyone in Berlin, but would really like to visit, and a cheap hostel is a godsend given my limited budget.

if you're gonna be there ask the recptionist if he's on /trv/, maybe it's me
>>1119004
Cool, will definitely do. If you don't mind me asking: are you German, or Berlin-native? If yes, then what would you recommend for a person interested in modern-art, counter-culture and literature to visit/see?
>>1119005
I'm German, actually from Bavaria, but I'm here for a couple of years now.
For the things you're interested in there's so much stuff here that I hardly can give you any advice. For modern art the MOMA comes to my mind, in Charlottenburg are a lot of Jazz clubs (A-Train, B Flat, Schlotfeger). In Kreuzberg and Neukölln are so many counter-culture spots that you're gonna be occupied for years to check them all out. The clubs are quite good as well, I often go there not to dance but to listen to the music and talk to people. I mostly go alone and make a few new acquaintances every time.

Thanks! Well, off I go, time to start making travel arrangements. If you ever meet a guy in a Battletoads t-shirt asking you if you're "that guy from 4chan", it will be me. Cheers, mate.
