What's your preferred travel gear, trv? I've been eyeballing a swissgear backpack, but not sure if I should go for it.

Post your best packs/setups

Incase travel backpack.

Been my best travel investment by far. Holds one week worth of clothes, snorkel set and dive booties, toiletries and 12 inch laptop.

Looks /fa/ as fuck too

Where did you get this? What is the make and model? I've been looking high and low for a bag I can carry on my shoulders, but also open up flat.
>>
>>1093518
Waterproof?
>>
Really tight budget, friendos. What's good in the $45 ball park? Only requirement is to fit as carry on/cabin luggage.

I use a swissgear backpack as my daypack. I carry a dslr in there plus other shit. It's a bit bulkier than most people use for a day pack but I think it's a little too small for a main pack. They also have too many compartments to make them great main packs but I have taken mine on a couple 4 day trips as the only pack and they worked. But as I said, I take a dslr with me and that takes up a lot of space, maybe without a camera it could work.

They're great backpacks though for what they are.

I generally travel on a budget and on short trips (3-5 days) so I don't generally bother with hold luggage. Can anyone recommend a backpack that is a good replacement for a rolling case that will fit the size requirements for carry on luggage in places like Easyjet and Ryanair? Ideally something waterproof and tough.

oh boy, I love gear threads. I spend more time looking at backpacks and gear ideas than the next trip

current set is a rucksack if I'm checking a bag and away for 2 weeks or more, backpack that's more often used (opens up like this >>1093518
) and a daybag, which took forever to find.

I wanted back padding on a bag that could fold up and go inside rucksack, which was tough. hard to find a good bag that can go into your bigger bag but still be somewhat tough

The only annoyance is that the zips on the daypack don't have room for a padlock if I'm taking valuables around. hard to find something with enough features but still fit in the main bag, gotta make compromises

>>1093548
where do you put the daypack? Do you have to carry both bags seperately if you're moving? I've started taking a DSLR and it's a lot more hassle trying to get the sizes right

Well I only take my big backpack with me when I move between places. So I just carry the smaller pack in front of me. Yeah I look as douchy as this guy but photography takes up most of my time when traveling so I can't give it up. In a couple of years though I will sell all my gear and get mirrorless.

Yeah, carrying a dslr is a big compromise. I also carry a tripod and 2 additional lenses. When I go for hikes I only take 1 lens usually and leave the tripod unless I know for a fact I will be using it a lot.

i got a 5.11 Rush 12 and always want to buy the Rush 72 and the straps so i can put the 12 on the back of it
but in the end i always just pack up everything in the 12 and dont use half of my stuff

it looks pretty small but you can pack up huge amount of stuff

if i dont have enough time/space to pack up all stuff during my travel i have a gay ass gym bag with me which i hang onto the backpack

i can go on a 7 day trip with the 12 easy and can take it into the cabin of the plane...
>>
>>1093766

I don't suppose you know the dimensions of the Rush 12 and 24? I can't seem to find them, only the internal capacity.
>>
>>1093518
Will this qualify as a "personal item" on an airplane? Or is it more carry-on?
>>
>>1093519
I bought it in Siam Paragon in Bangkok. InCase do have an online store, also you can buy it on Amazon.

>>1093520
Not entirely. The front panel is coated in a waterproof material, but the rest of the bag isn't. My only gripe with this bag

>>1093868
Fully packed it is carry-on, once you open up the expandable zips it reaches 40L. If you don't open up the expanding zips, I guess it could be a personal bag, but I haven't tried

just look at the size of the main pocket, its a backpack. its barely bigger than this and is flexible so its even smaller if not full
>>
>>1093764
Well you're more into it than I am so I guess it's different. I considered buying a mirrorless as a first camera but I'm just a beginner hobbyist, if even, so I borrow a friends DSLR and second lens for travel instead

>>1093868
it'll probably quality, different airlines have different max dimensions for your bag. I had one that opened up (middle one here>>1093733
) and you could use the compression straps so with some scrunching it fit in any of those containers they might make you test it with. so basically just compare the dimensions on the store page with some airline requirements
