Turks are imperialistic xenophobes who are picking fights with several nations/peoples and currently actively supporting ISIS. Few blasts were here and there with foreigner casualties and political unrest/censorship. It's generally safe but keep those things in mind.

Thanks for your answers. This was à broad question. I was indeed refering to the recent bombing in Istanbul. I know I should not let those events impress me because I would have more chances at winning the lotery than getting killed in a terrorist attack. In the meantime, I would be much more inclined at taking my chances to win the lotery than risking my life.
I still want to go and probably Will but I have to admit that the attacks have made me re-evaluate my trip.
