Hello guys!
I would like to start a general frugal thread for /trv purpose, like a connession between trv and biz.

So, do you have any advice and pro tips to save money to travel (no car, home made stuff, etc. .)?
Share with us.

Work your ass off and quit drinking. If you live in the Western world and don't have kids/too much debt, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to afford a couple vacations every year.

This. I have on holiday every two months. I don't earn that much and I live in fucking Paris but I still manage to save some cash. For me the big saving is not drinking in bars and clubs if I can help it. Also I always cook for me and my girlfriend and almost never eat out. Seriously, learn to cook nice tasty food and you will save a lot. :^)

When it comes to holidays always organise it yourself. Never buy packaged. If you're young always stay in hostels or couch surf. Always find out what is free. Walking tours are everywhere, do them. Climb a mountain. Do some sketching. Visit public museums. If you need to get somewhere where you can't walk get the bus use sky scanner to find cheap tickets. Try to fly out on a Thursday

it's not always cheaper to do things yourself. Ie central America you're better off hopping on organized shit than overpaying for shit by trying to arrange everything yourself.

I'm really into fitness and I've picked up extreme calisthenics. Helps me maintain my body until I can get to a gym and a lot of people find it impressive/you end up meeting people that way
