Really though, read out-of-placers if you haven't: it's not porn, but it has a lot of elements that make TF interesting, and the world building seems strong. Also got a fair few chuckles out of me.

For me it's both. I've certainly gotten off to a lot of TF pictures and fantasies, but I also enjoy transformation stories and the like that I don't find sexual. I've got kids books I've collected just because I like the transformation idea.

The more common modern use of fetish is "this thing is sexual but atypical, but I still get off to it". You even have people calling things like breasts or swollen, aroused labia a fetish.

I honestly don't feel much shame but my interest in TF is rooted in more than just sex. The only thing that really gets me is people assume I have some sort of problem because I find TF interesting, so I usually keep it on the down-low even in looser social circles.

I've been attracted to TF art/animations/stories/ideas since I was real young. I always thought the idea of becoming something exotic or unique was fascinating. Something other than human. My family are a bunch of filthy pagan heathens and they always told stories of werewolves and mythical beasts that once walked the earth. Some interacting and meshing into humanity and others being completely distant and some going as far as to want to destroy the world. While I'm not unhappy with my life per-say, I almost feel that I want more from it. Which is why some crazy druidic cultist nonsense of living out in the forest, hunting and turning into animals in my spare time appeals to me. Moving away from the mundanity of modern life and moving into something exotic, or completely unique is an interesting concept to me.
But for some, it's a fetish, and we don't know enough about brains to explain fetishes.

Anyway, the original definition of fetish I believe is not sexual, but it has become casually used as a primarily sexual term. You still have the traditional definition of fetish if you're at all like me at least. My mind just latches onto it whether it's sexual or not and I find many aspects of it fascinating. In fact, I dare say that from a young age my thoughts of transformation are what got me into furry, bondage, and various aspects of not-explicitly-sexual storytelling.

Even still Anon, they offer these works to fill their pockets. Even if it technically isn't stealing, one can understand why the artists would want to actually get something in return for their work. To make it worth their time doing this when they might be able to do something more profitable.
Though I am partial that such images should be sent to free source after a period of five years so the artist themselves do not become overly reliant on old images for income. But that is just me.
