Well, he does have a rebellion on his hands. That would be something to occupy his mind... even through Draven implies it's his fault because he is too harsh with people.
Just to define, when I said affirmative traits it was mostly 'caring about his family' and 'not dealing with necromancers', even through those are pretty basic things you could expect of a person.
