I hate what fluffies has become... They used to be just childish, stupid and naive. Doing harm more by being lack of understanding and following half dormant biological urges...

For example, the "ugwy babbeh". What the hell, I thought, that fluffies are in fucking love with every foal, selecting the perfect, good, not as good, good for food and good for rape foal is something so alien to original concept of goodhearted, loving animal. Selecting runts? Yes, that is normal, but selecting by colour of fluff is just something more human like.

It's like everybody makes them most horrible creatures on earth, so they can justify all the abuse. Fuck that... If you can't abuse the original, kind hearted, loving fluffy, just go for the hugbox...

Hell is other fluffies.
>>
>>3517274

This. Fluffies are the most innocent little animals, wanting nothing but huggies, play and to be loved by a human daddy. They love huggies, play, foals, sketties and other shit childishly. They even say out loud that "fwuffie fow huggies n wuwv" Their entire purpose is to live in a padded saferoom with toys and be a good companion for a little girl, play ball and stack blockies with her. Even fluffy mummahs are supposed to cartoonishly love their foals, sing to their bellies and shit.

How the FUCK we got to the point where every fluffy is either a raging smarty pointlessly antagonizing humans and outright demanding things, a terrible mother playing favorites and murdering foals at the drop of the hat or a child rapist.

The entire draw of fluffies was living out the cute rage you feel when you see fat hamsters chirping and grooming eachother and see these dumb little fat horses barely able to understand why anyone would want to hurt them instead of getting huggies from them

This. Many people left when the fandom started turning into the opposite of what it was, but fortunately the tide of shit has been turning since the "I want to be angry at imaginary creatures" folk have gotten bored of their soulless chewtoys. I was seriously planning to abandon ship myself at one point because the front pages of booru were just filled with things everyone hates.
>>
>>3551750
I think its never a good thing to stop doing something you like because other people. Especially if they enjoy the same thing just for the wrong reasons. Or generally "do it wrong".
>>
>>3552055

The thing is, fluffies were turning from something I love to something I hated. Reading the booru was making me miserable because the nuggets of good content were getting buried under an avalanche of the most rage-inducing things the current wave of newfags could come up with.

Even worse, the newfags started teaching even newer newfags their hell-gremlin headcanon as a fact, making more people to see fluffies as evil-incarnates, while scaring away anyone who would have enjoyed the original fluffies. We lost literally half of the best artists on the booru because of them, and we're only now gradually getting the fandom back on its feet.
>>
>>3552412
I'm not sure about that.

Not trying to invalidate your opinion. But, Newfag, as a description, fits me. I ran into Fluffy Pony stuff a few years ago, when I did "research" on the whole "brony" thing. A colleague of mine ran around with a fedora and a rainbow dash T-Shirt all the time, and was telling me, that I need to know about that new Internet fad.
So I did google a bit, doing my research on bronies. Threads on /b/ popped up, were eventually moved to its own board. I ran into some really really weird tumblers, where I made first "contact" with Fluffies. Did not really think much about it.

Fast forward a few years, I ran into one of the threads on /b/ again a few months ago. Read some of the longer stories, "discovered" the fluffybooru and I am having a blast, being a Newfag, so far.

But I have never watched a single episode of MLP and don't plan to.

Initially Smarty Abuse was very satisfying, though. But its very rarely well justified.

"Hey I threw some Rocks at you and you shat on my lawn, being scared. That's the reason I use that elecrified cheese grater made out of lava and chilly pepper on your testicles now".

That's just plain boring.

But I don't think that's something Newfags do in general. When people join a fandom, they usually focus on one particular thing that pulled them in. In the fluffy case this is something they can't find anywhere else.

Abuse that is.

When People join a certain fandom they also feel the need to contribute. Immediately.

And lastly, when people join a particular fandom they are very inexperienced and plain out SUCK at contributing.

So, your fandom just hat a "growth bubble", many people join, many people contributed, and well, that is your issue, many people suck when they first contribute.

You can trust me on that. Strange subcultures are my hobby. That's why i come here.
I've seen this happen many many times.

However, you are also right about your options. [cont]
>>
>>3552929
You can either leave your fandom behind, looking for greener pastures, or you can try to swim the rising tide of shit and hope you don't drown. (no puns intended)

The former usually happens when the your "circles" within the group are falling apart. People you have regular contact with. For some reason its hard for me to imagine that Fluffy Pony fans meet every Wednesday evening to have tea and crumpets together.

But yeah, fewer people to communicate also makes you want to leave. This is a natural process. Its much better to leave a fandom behind, because you found something new and shiny. Leaving because something turns to shit is very unsatisfying.

Swimming against the tide on the other hand is also very exhausting. In fact you need to get more active, giving Feedback, contributing more. Generally be more active. That sounds weird, as other people, you care about, just left. And its very exhausting.

So, yeah, my general advice as a Newfag boils down to this:

If you want to leave, leave because you found something new and shiny.
If you want to stay, dig through the mud, but don't look for the nuggets of gold but for the people that put them there.

And this is is not ment as an insult:
Just telling us, we're doing it wrong, makes you look old and grumpy. Not that we care. We're Newfags. We don't even notice. We're ignorant stupid little bastards that don't give a fuck.

Sorry about that.

>>
>>3517274
Agree, the fun part of fluffy was breaking thier little minds not the actual phisical abuse.
I'm ok with a fluffy hurting her baby nor because it is inherently evil but because she is taught it's the best way to help it or slowly convinced the baby is evil. Problem is we moved away from humans in fluffy stories and we need some villain after the smarty friend got played to death we had nothing left
>>
>>3553505
>>3553420
If you're already experienced with drawing try this:

Make one (1) Fluffy. Try to get the proportions right.
If you're happy with it draw it from several angles again, so your brain learns the proportions.

If you're happy with that, the two steps can be done in either Order:

Faces are very important for fluffies, they transport how they feel and what they think. More so then poses, as they have mostly stubby limbs and a simple body. Make all the expressions you can think of. Sad, happy, content, hurt, bored, etc.

Poses are very important for story telling. Draw your Fluffy in several poses. Sitting, standing, bouncing, rolling, pouncing, etc.

That should get you started.
Oh, and post on the booru and ask for feedback. Good Luck.
>>
>>3553789
And now I'm doubting myself, I haven't gotten around to learning facial expressions yet, I figure it would be easier for countries, plus poses for something that's not humanoid are also beyond me

Don't expect it to be perfect. This is a training exercise after all.
Start with any human facial expression chart.
I've added one. Pick a random facial expression. (i.e. happy)
Draw a base Fluffy head without features (i.e. circle)
Draw features.
Exaggerate features to make it look more fluffy. (bigger nose, wider smile, bigger eyes)

Same with poses. Pick a list but make sure to NOT draw the face, as it distracts/overwrites.

Also, goal is not that your first fluffy is an awesome 20 panel comic everybody loves and reposts all the time. Its for you, to have a guideline. How YOUR particulary style of fluffy drawing looks.
Its quite normal to invest some time to refine your style and create a reference you can use to "look up things" later.

Posting to share and gather comments is encouraged, though.
>>
>>3569457
>>3556499

Can't find a fluffy facial expression chart. The booru is worse organized then a Fluffpile.

But this guy does it correctly:
https://www.fluffybooru.org/post/list/user_id=3626/1

You can see, first pic: one (detailed) Fluffy, 6 facial expressions.

Second pic, Fluffy in different angles. Some simple pose studies. Simple foal vs adult study.

Third pic, story telling poses. Fluffy foal, filly, adult, to study the size difference

Forth pic: single panel comic of your average Fluff on Fluff racism.

This is basically how you do it. Draw to explore, keep what you like.

And read some of the comments, it may help you too.

I own a wacom, problem is i never actually learned to use it, im not making a fluffy sponge since somebody already made it and i dont steal but maybe making a fluffy try to save a sponge from drawning would be cool
>>
>>3618132
Good start!

>>3619518
Digital Art is not as complicated as it seems.
Find as few brushes that work for you as possible.
Maybe just one for line art and two for filling in.

Lots of Undo will make you confident in strokes. This is where digital art shines over pencil and eraser. Then you can explore layers, brushes and other tools.

For your style, you need to decide about the amount of "features" you want to support. So, with hooves, without. Distinct mane or general fluffienes. Mouth-shape and general amount of "horsie-ness".

I like yours, they are nice and fluffy. Try more spiky ears, to make them look less like sheep.

When it comes to orgiginal art, the community seems to be so tiny and short lived that i've not seen anybody "claiming" things. At best people thank you for adding to their Ideas. At the worst case they correct you about the ideas and characters they created, if you make to drastic changes to their idea of Fluffies.

If you like a certain concept, like foal in a can, sea-fluffies, garden fluffies, fluffsplosion, or in your case sponge fluffies you can just go ahead and contribute.

Virtually always your contribution is understood as "adding to it". And more Fluffy stuff is better Fluffy stuff.
At least this is what I have observed so far.

In a nutshell: It translates from the pressure of your digital pen to the pixels you're gonna change in the picture, How big, the general shape and how pressure is translated to opacity.

Virtually all graphics programs have brushes. Even some 3D tools like zBrush have them as a general concept.

It means the kind of track your cursor leaves. For example, I prefer a round, five pixel brush with slightly soft edges.

Also, the idea of fluffy jumping in water to save a sponge is INGENIOUS! That's the kind of fluffy stupidity absolutely everyone loves! :D

There is nothing wrong with drawing it on paper and uploading it to the booru. Just be sure you have a scanner or a decent camera so you don't upload blurry images that people can't read or see. Also if you're using a phone or tablet, be sure to test upload your image on imgur or something so you're not uploading stuff side ways.

Greetings Anons,

I recently discovered this concept through this thread, and after investigating it further I see that the world built around this concept has quite a bit to it.

Have any games been made about fluffies? I've been playing a lot of Dwarf Fortress and have been itching to make a simulation game in the same vein. I think that the fluffy universe would work well with that kind of game play. You'd be able to breed, hoard, abuse, etc.

Looking around the booru, I've noticed that some entries are more informational/lore-heavy than others. Is there some sort of grand unified canon to all of this? If not, can some kind anons point me to stories that can help me condense one? I'd like it to be inclusive without being conflicting.

I'm planning to start with a basic fluffy pen. I guess I'll try for simple breeding and work from there.

Of course I'll be implementing anatomy, colors, personalities, activities, and the like. You'll be able to acquire new fluffies through the vending machine, stores, shelters, breeders, and the street. There will be some sort of economy system so you can buy new items, as well as sell any fluffies. I think it might be cool to have a player character unit, this would open up opportunities for them to escape and ruin your house.

Any thoughts, Anons?
>>
>>3714488
>discovered
welcome
>games been made
a few. Mostly small unfinished and made with flash.
>grand unified canon
It's all somebodies headcanon somewhere. Some basics make it Fluffy-Content though. Most things are negotiable. If you stray to far, people will say: Not Fluffies anymore. People will disagree here and say xy is a total must, but...
>basic fluffy pen
Look at http://dagobah.net/flash/petshop.swf
>Of course I'll be implementing <shitton of complicated things>
You maybe wanna start small.... Just as a tip.
>Any thoughts, Anons?
Godspeed you glorious programming faggot.

Tip: Iterate small, show early. Post on the booru with meta tag. Don't announce early, show, when you got something. Intial reaction may be somewhat reserved, many people have promised Half Life 3 with Fluffies and delivered nothing.

I go to sleep. Keep the Thread bumped!
>>
>>3714700

I found the wiki

I know that I've set out a bunch of complex shit, but I appreciate the warning.

I'm naturally iterative in my development.

I'll keep quiet until I have something to show, thanks for the tip.

What is the "meta" tag?
>>
>>3714822
Im hoping you'll be different and go through with your project
>>
>>3714488
There is a general headcanon on how Fluffies came to be and how they were released, but what happens after that is up to the users. You can find the origin in the fluffy wiki here.
http://fluffypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Fluffy_Ponies

Since you seem to be interested in the breeding aspects, read mayclore's Fluffy Factory series and Sunny Gardens series. It is the story all breeding and fluffy mill stories were built upon. Start on this page and work your way to the front, have your mouse hover over the image and look for the the_fluffy_factory tag. https://www.fluffybooru.org/post/list/author%3Amayclore/3

To simplify how breeding colors work, fluffies mix their body fluff and main fluff colors with their mates, so the foals usually have similar colors of their parents or if unlucky get mixed into another color entirely.

For example: A blue fluffy mates with a yellow fluffy, the foals will usually be yellow or blue and occasionally some will be green because of the color mixing.

White colored fluffies are the hardest to breed but one of the most sought after colors on the market making white fluffies more expensive. The color white is too recessive in the fluffy's biology and gets mixed by other colors more often than not. A red and white fluffy is more likely to breed red, pink and off-white pink foals than solid white. Because of that problem breeders try to match white fluffies together so there's less of a chance of breeding tarnished foals.

Alicorns are the rarest type of fluffy people will usually breed, so much so that breeders don't focus on trying to breed them and just hope they win the breeding lottery. the most expensive fluffy on the market is a well behaved Princess Celestia fluffy for it's near impossibility to breed all those traits into a single fluffy.

I love your stuff

>>3698019
Tell him you'll let him off the hook this one time and let him go back to his family. Follow him and find other fluffs. Use them to make homemade dog food.
>>
>>3714488
The fluffy meta runs mostly on headcanon, the lore is created post-fact, descriptively, to glue the information together.

tho not making fluffies lethally vulnerable to any significant contact with water is heresy
>>
>>3714822
>I'll keep quiet until I have something to show
That's a good Idea. I am not going to discourage you from showing early and often. This is how feedback works, and you need Feedback if you're new to the thing.
However a reoccurring pattern with Fluffy content is general unfinished-ness. If you look around a while, you see many many cases where the author or artist has stopped, literally mid-project.

And if you like a particular thing, it hard to never see it finished. And for games its generally the same. For every game out there are at least 10 others that never got finished. And this is not a hobby project issue. Even in the Industry, most games never make it out of the prototype-phase. A lot of them are stopped before release and even more shortly after, because they did not got the traction they needed.

People don't really mind unfinished games, as long somebody works on it. The rise of the "eternal alpha project" showed that. What people truly hate is when the developer cannot deliver on all his promises. No matter the reason.

Hence my tip about: Don't announce, but show early and often what you got. If you got some people interested ask for feedback on specific features.

As a side-effect you will enjoy it much more.
>>
>>3714700
>>3723211

How early should I show?

My goals for my first iteration were reproduction, sex differentiation, hunger, death.

Is that worth linking to? Basically you can spawn fluffies and then watch them breed and die out while also eating their dead.
>>
>>3698019

Let him go
>>
>>3723797
Depends on what kind of interaction you have. Also how easy you can show. People are very reluctant to download some arbitrary .exe for understandable reasons.

Also, you have yet to state what kind of engine or framework you want to use. I assume Unity (cause its the new Flash) or plain HTML (cause everybody knows javascript).
HTML has a few advantages, because you can show easily.

As long you have Fluffies visually represented, you should be fine, for a first "show".

You maybe struggle having a topdown view of Fluffies. If you want to go full Dwarf Fortress and just have some text output, with F's representing Fluffies, that might make it too niche.
The Fandom is rather small. People that actually enjoy deep simulation games with very little visual presentation may only include you, me and someguy over there.
Making a Game for 2 people only is not a lot of fun, though.

From a game producing and marketing perspective: The smaller the total market is, the more you need to invest into accessibility. So, if you host it in a Browser, that's easier then some app in the store, which is easier then some .exe download.

You will be left with all those that wanted to invest the time/effort.
And from there the rule goes: The more Graphics you have at the start and less "raw numbers to look at" the more accessible your game gets.
It literally funnels down like that.

Don't make the mistake of "taking" art out of other games. That is generally frowned upon, because your own Art may be shitty, but its yours. Also, I think having developer-art is fine, as long as they pass visually as Fluffies.

If you go the ascii-text-route, you should think about adding story. And if only for the tutorial. Stories go well, with the audience. and people may be willing to accept "no art" when they have an awesome story.

The earliest point in time where you can share, is when somebody, unfamiliar with your pitch can say: "oh! I get it! Its a game about Fluffies!".

> how easy you can show
I can host from Dropbox

>what kind of engine or framework
Construct 2, because I'm terrible like that

>Making a Game for 2 people only is not a lot of fun, though.
Eh, if it really came down to that I think I'd be fine. If I can enjoy it I'll be satisfied.

>From a game producing and marketing perspective
I'm not sure how important that perspective is given the material. I don't see myself making any money off of this.

>adding story
I'm hoping to have enough choices in-game that an emergent narrative can arise. Beyond the initial premise of "You are a person who has decided to house fluffies" I'd like to leave things pretty open. For example, you could arrange the space in a manner that produces a lot of Fun when they are left unattended.

Github.io and google app engine both also support hosting frontend stuff only. Construct2 exports to HTML5 the last time i've checked. A short url like: fluffstuff.github.io could help.

>Construct 2
Works. Its not about the engine. I've seen game designers with very little code experience deliver truly awesome prototypes with Game Maker or Flash that a team of 20 struggled so hard during production
that the project got canceled for being "to ambitious".

>If I can enjoy it I'll be satisfied.
Don't want to judge you, but its much easier to stay motivated, if people like what you do.

>making any money off of this.
Nah, marketing is not about making money. Its about finding players. There are literally millions of games out there. Its very hard to compete.

>emergent narrative
Emergent Gameplay is best gameplay.

>You are a person who has decided to house fluffies
Backyard breeder may be the way to go. Read mayclores stuff:
pastebin dawt com/u/Mayclore/1

Then read all of the Martini stuff:
pastebin dawt com/u/deathproofpony

Then check out the breeder/breeding/manual tags on the booru.

That gives you a very good overview of stable tropes within "breeding".

Backyard breeder are people that have a day-job, but buy and sell Fluffies for some extra money. Maisie and Laura would illustrate a backyard breeder well:

All of the above are considered classics and are well liked by large parts of the fandom.

>Github.io and google app engine
I'll check those out, thanks for the recommendation

>its much easier to stay motivated if people like what you do.
I agree, and in all honesty I would like to create something that does draw the appreciation of others.

>Its very hard to compete.
In general I would agree, however I think that niche work is much easier to get seen, although its only within the fandom that it's created for.

>Backyard breeder may be the way to go.
That's what I'd like to go for, mainly because covering that would likely also cover any other ways that the player may want to interact with the game. If they just want to play as an animal abuser who takes fluffies off the street, they can. I was thinking that competitions/show fluffies might also be something interesting to do. Or you could just force them all into your backyard and have them harassed by ferals or die from exposure.

Thanks for all of the help and feedback! I'm very excited to get something out to you Anons.
