So, this might be a silly question, but how does it work, sewing two pieces of fabric with a sewing machine? I've been doing all my sewing by hand, where I just make a line on two pieces of fabric to be sewn together and then do stitches along those lines, but how can you do that accurately with a sewing machine? It feels as if you could guide the machine along the line on the piece of fabric that was facing up, but I have no idea how the stitches would come out on the piece of fabric on the bottom.
I'm not sure if that explanation came out very clearly. I've never been able to find the answer googling and it would be awesome to get a machine to do all that sewing work, but I have no one to ask.

after lining the lines up, you pin the fabric on both sides of the lines (so they don't un-align) while leaving room for the "foot" to go between
it will pull the fabric in as it sews, you just need to help make sure it sews where it should
also having enough seam allowance would be very helpful, much to what I learned and I won't waste what I have already

1/3" to 1/4" is the perfect seam allowance to be honest, it's what I use with my machine. I just align my needle to the far right and sew using the presser foot as a width guide.
