I haven't touched my stuff in a while. I've never really been good, and never moved beyond simple sketches. The disconnect between what I want to do, and what I can do is just too great. I'm also probably one of the oldest people here (nearly 30), and I've grown very self-conscious about my age. Strange, how when I was in school, I was scribbling away in my workbooks with zero regard for who was watching. In fact, I didn't even realize others could see it until a girl asked if I wanted to be a cartoonist, because I was constantly drawing shit. Kind of wish I could just drop the shame and get back to it again.

Hate to say it, but I think your teacher might be right. Landscapes have a lot of random ambiguous organic forms that don't really read well as pure outline, the shape of the shadow really does a lot to clarify the form.
I'm still figuring out how to approach it but my goals are to have a nice clean layout for painting over. Rendering it does seem like a waste of time if I'm going to paint over it, but it might not be a bad idea to at least outline the shadows.

I understand how a job can be a good thing for a person. I have many friends who thrive on work.
But when your options are shit, and there's this massive disconnect between what people think is possible, and reality, it's crap. I like to think I'm an honest person, and even applying for a job means having to lie my ass off. I also hate how companies insist on picking the cream of the crop, to the point where they have massively unrealistic demands. I even applied for a job that's just putting shit in boxes, and they demand you have a "passion" for that shit.

I'm 32 in 12 days. I still consider drawing to be my primary outlet of creativity.
I'm trying to pick up drawing but studies are so painful and I can't move beyond basic stuff. Tried to to use a tablet a bit (I have a modern Wacom Bamboo One gathering dust, not the tiny one but still small) and it gets even worse. I also feel like I don't have the attention span for getting proportions/placement right.
Is there any magic pill for motivation for complete beginners? I've tried using seinfeld calendar but it didn't feel very motivating, I think I've followed it only for 2/3 days through in a month and decided that I'm not going to print out another calendar.

I'm another guy, I'm still trash but I've already finished the book this year and I'd advise against skimming through it and doing just the exercises (if that is what you're going to do). Read it, at least until you finish with the portrait. It's full of pseudo-pseduoscience and doesn't really cover drawing well but it has good general ideas about approach to drawing. The point of those exercises is to change your approach, don't do them without reading.

Oh and if it isn't already obvious, the coccyx in the diagram is a vestigial tail-bone that humans have. It tucks into the butt-crack where on an animal it juts outwards and is a lot longer.

Just as a note, but a big source of a lot of your anatomy issues seems to be coming from not outlining the rib-cage and pelvis while constructing the figure. I would highly recommend getting into the habit if you aren't doing so already...

Just looked at it, and it seems to have changed. When I went there last time (years ago), it was a hive of "critics" more than anything else. You know, the kind who go "this is so bad I'm not going to tell you why, and instead just mock you". Very little interest in artists, and more just circlejerking about technique. Preppy, is the way I'd describe it.
Not that there's anything wrong with rigorous technical practice, of course. But nobody gets into art to please the autism of self-appointed masters to art.

Even shit artists can make a solid living, what it really comes down to is their confidence and their ability to produce work regularly. But you can't manufacture confidence out of thin air when it comes to art, you are either able to do the work you want to do or you can't. You might like your style already, but you have to figure out what elements are missing for the type of work you want to do and study them as hard as you can.

Her eyebrows are up to high as well as well as any straps or tight clothes pinches the area they run across which I assume that there was a strap attached to the plate covering her crotch but the breasts and anatomy look decent enough. Like I said flip it over and do a quick redraw on parts that look off that will fix any problems you have. But looks good so far.

Might wanna check the foreshortening on the right arm and the length of the left since one looks too short and the other too long.
The next thing the figure looks kinda stiff at least to me so might wanna check that moving on to the next part since you have him suspended in fluid you might wanna take a look at the restraints since flesh is pliable and will bulge around flesh that is restrained just look at tight clothes, but since it's fur you might wanna have some overlapping the restraints .
And with the fluid which I assume it is correct me if I'm wrong okay you might wanna have some bubbles to show that it is a fluid. Looks good so far and like I suggest to another make sure you flip your stuff that way you can catch stuff you didn't see and fix them giving you a better finished picture.

Most programs have stabilizers that give the line better quality sai and manga studio have these not sure about Photoshop tho. Another thing that plays a big part is DPI (resolution) higher the DPI then better quality of lineart when your done stuff will look pretty decent when shrunk down as well.
Practice also helps too.
