I went to see RWBY, I was pleasantly surprised. The local independent cinema used their main goddamn theater to screen it, when only 20-30 people showed up. I had a whole row to myself, and no annoying kids either.

This always makes me chuckle. At any other hunter academy, Neon would make more sense. But because of how Atlas works, Neon is essentially is indeed a special forces soldier in training. Atlas puts so much into trying to present itself as disciplined and orderly, and then they allow Neon Katt into their elite soldiery.
I can only assume that Atlas values psychological warfare and the element of surprise, or some higher-up in Atlas has quite a sense of humour.
How would Nox fare in Remnant?

Nox at the end was basically a pile of angry dust, held together through his corruption of wakfu and time dickery. Him on his own coming through to Remnant on his own, he wouldn't be too powerful. Unless he could find a way to convert Aura or sembalance into wakfu energy.

I haven't watched RT's main stuff [besides some of the Animated Adventures] since like, probably around a bit before RWBY even got the red trailer out, so my judgement may be skewed to older interpretations of the employees... But I always really like Michael, Jack, Gavin, Geoff, and Burnie. To be honest I never payed much attention to them or the RT goings on, but I enjoyed the content featuring them all a bunch, and they were the only ones memorable enough for me to, well, remember.

FFVIII was only ehhh because of the gameplay. The junction system was silly, and so was scaling bosses and monsters that made leveling up almost pointless.
What FFVIII did semi-well was the story (Which is what RWBY steals from the most).
The love story aspect was also the best in the series.
Tidus and Yuna hit it off right away.
Cloud was a cocky asshole for most of disk one, but Aerith was too much of a saint to let that bother her.
Rosa and Cecil were already together at the start of the game.
But Squall and Rinoa actually had an interesting dynamic.
First Rinoa is sweet on Squall at the dance because she wants aomething out of it.
Then they act like cocks to one another when his team is working for her.
Then she starts going on about how hot Seifer is, and Squall doesn't care.
Then she starts to warm up to him, but he still doesn't care.
Then he finally warms up to her and something clicks.
Squall/Rinoa was the most genuine feeling relationship in Final Fantasy because of all that realistic build up where they needed to get over one another's differences.
And then Rinoa became the Fall Maiden and shit got dumb.

Most characters in RWBY are nothing characters or standard anime tropes.
She has a lot more screen time than the twins. I'm a big fan of quiet characters and yandere. She also has one of the nicer fighting styles in the show. She might have conceptually been a genderbent Roman, but she's pretty different as a character. Roman's joking is very typical comedic villain. He throws out smug lines and gets away a lot.
Neo on the other hand is depicted as a much more dangerous villain. She's what Roman might be if you stripped the comedy from him and replaced it with a more cold blooded demeanor. She's the assassin to his highwayman.
Yang is just a really generic brawler type. She's hot headed, she's cocky, she makes jokes, she's the sort of tomboyish girl who could hang with the guys, yadda yadda. I can't like her, it took all of 30 seconds watching her trailer to guess at exactly what sort of character she was going to be, and she hasn't yet offered any sort of surprise. I can see why people like her type, but it's just not something I've ever been interested in--I'm much more a Weiss/Blake/Neo/Cinder sort of person. I prefer the calm, the quiet, the classy, etc.
