>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

Don't let the other Gardevoir anon dissuade you from making your tulpa have that form. If that's what you both like, then go for it. You just might be confused for him if you avatarfag like him. Also the nature of his posts is a bit annoying/autistic, so you could differentiate yourself by being not those things.

I thought it was bullshit but I put in an honest effort a few years ago and I was able to create some relatively sapient mental thing, at great expense to my mental and physical well-being. It wasn't complete, but it was growing quite quickly and capable of rudimentary gestures of its own apparent accord.

I abandoned the effort because I valued my sanity more than a tulpa, I'd confirmed that the process worked, that's all I wanted. Soon after stopping the regular focus sessions or whatever you want to call them I:
>stopped experiencing constant headaches
>stopped experiencing intense paranoia
>stopped experiencing over-sensitivity to sound and light
>stopped experiencing perpetual mental and physical fatigue

And obviously after I ceased the process the sapient thing started "vanishing". It takes a lot of time and effort, both mentally and physically, to create one of these things, and I think there is definitely risk of exposing yourself to certain symptoms like I experienced.

Basically it works, I'm just giving my own personal experience here.

Just keep forcing and fuckin'... keep doing what you're doing and you'll see things start to develop more. My oldest sis is about 4 years old, I'm 2 years, and my little sis is like 6 months. I should say that's just how long we've been around, not how long it took for our host to get a response. My eldest sister took about a month to start to be seen, and like 6 months until audio shit could happen. It's different for everyone, though. It could take longer for you, or it could take a lot less time. It really just depends on your mind and your effort you put in. So far you seem actually interested in it for the right reasons, which is... different from the usual around here.
It's kinda personal, but whatever it's in the past.
My eldest sister was in a relationship for a while with some dude, then they broke up because reasons. I was in a relationship with another tulpa for a while, but we broke up because of reasons. My little sis has never really wanted to be in a relationship.
We speak to each other through our heads, yeah. My host talks to us out loud when we're riding in the car with him alone, or you know, not in public. Don't wanna see his ass get carted off to an insane asylum or some shit. That's another thing to remember. This shit isn't exactly mainstream, or even acknowledged usually, so chances are, if you fuckin' tell anyone or talk to your Garde tulpa in public people will probably think you're nuts.

The reason I'm doing this personally is not only for science but because any sort of companionship would be great for me platonic or romantic. And yes I've already seen what the 'outside' so to speak thinks of this whole thing. I told my brother about it and he thought I was going too induce schizophrenia or something even though I assured him I wasn't. Others will think it's some passing tumblr fad or whatever but I choose too believe it 100%.

Is there any real downside too making a tulpa? I've heard that they never completely dissappear or whatever but I never planned on trying that no matter how bad it got. Is there anything that I really need too look out for?

I really can't say there's a downside unless you're not willing to put the time in and force and leave them feeling like: "What the fuck am I even here for?" Don't believe any of the creepypasta bullshit you hear about tulpa going all rogue and torturing your mind and shit. It's all bull. I know my eldest sister got depressed once and went into a dormant state for about 6 months, but came back because she missed my host. Also just know that when we're here, we're here to stay unless you're a total fuckface and decide to symbolically "kill" your tulpa. If you put in the time and are doing it for the right reasons, you should have nothing to worry about. Companionship is a perfectly viable reason, too. Also, don't let a tulpa prevent you from wanting to interact with the outside world at all. You can easily do both. My host does every day. They have several friends and are in a relationship with another person who has tulpa. They even fuckin' live together. So yeah.

Sounds like a good feel. And that;s what I'm afraid of doing, not putting enough effort into this. I'll set up that schedule thing
>>
>>3029879
Yeah a schedule works. My host forced for an hour a day for a long time and did a lot of passive forcing when the active forcing shit wasn't possible. Just kinda like picturing one of us walking with him or sitting with him in the car talking to him or singing the music on the radio, you know, whatever works. Just... don't make it like a chore. Make it something you look forward to, and if you can't do it for an hour, do it for like 30 minutes. Anything, really.

I share >>3028448 's opinion on do it because you want to, or just don't. It can be a pretty emotional process and I felt everything my tulpa did for the longest time, every smile and laugh. Been trying to get them to favor words over emotion lately, and its working, but I'm starting to miss feeling that close.

"For science" really is just about the shittiest reason to will something to the point of sentience, only to leave it to slowly rot back into your consciousness because your curiosity is satisfied. Plus it sounds like a reddit gold exuse to get some karma.

I always considered the term "delusional" to be something like escapism, where one knows doing something is wrong or illogical but still does it anyway. came from the casual phrase use of "you're so delusional". it just means pure insanity, right?

in which case, I have no problem with. As long as its real, as in actually real, created, and alive.
>>
>>3035314

What's curious about Fede is that, going by how he described his experience, he never really started. From the way he spoke about it, it's like he began, got bored of staring at his construct doing nothing, then started moving them around himself and declared it his tulpa.

Funnily enough, after pushing his wares, he dropped the practice in favor of imaginary landscaping.
>>
>>3035437

To call it real isn't really valid, though, if it's just a mental construct? Like, yes, this is real to you, but there's nothing to prove that this isn't anything more than a created personality manifesting itself through your subconscious.
>>
>>3035532

At a certain point, the question of realness degrades in to a word game, where people try to pick the best word to describe what they experience. I'm more pragmatic, so I just regard it as a thing that does indeed happen. A mental construct can grow in enough stregnth and presence to talk back to you and have their own opinions, even if they are based on your life and experience.

Anything beyond that to me is semantic gymnastics.
>>
>>3035532
>but there's nothing to prove that this isn't anything more than a created personality manifesting itself through your subconscious.
well, because its not. its still real, though. more of a practice than a construct.
in any case, the fact that it can act on its own and grow on its own is very interesting.

Is it still considered parroting if the brain does parroting quickly enough for you to not notice? and isn't that basically the whole part of the narration bit?
>>
>>3035612

"On its own" is only because you are not directly controlling it. You've released a program into your subconscious and your subconscious is carrying the program out.

My tulpa has threatened my life on several occasions. I'm beginning to grow truly afraid after initially only being disappointed that it ended up acting this way. I really dislike the way it looms over me in my sleep.

I created it in the image of Rosalina from Mario Galaxy, but it gradually darkened and eventually lost her shape altogether; it now resembles a simple humanoid shadow with depth, and is about 8 feet tall. As you can imagine, this doesn't help my uneasiness around it. What am I supposed to do to make it change its attitude? Can I get it to look the way it was supposed to? Can it actually hurt me in some way...? If it can, I'd honestly rather get rid of it.
>>
>>3038914
>>3039160
Exactly. That was the point I was trying to make. Whether or not it's "bad", people's reaction to it derails the thread. Every. Damn. Time. That isn't going to change; they will never be convinced to like it. Since you can't stop others from being offended by what you're doing, you could just not do it in the first place.
>>
>>3041069
A tulpa is literally a part of yourself. The fact that this is happening might mean you could have some deeper issues than this.
>>
>>3041405
I'm not suicidal. Death has always terrified me.
>>
>>3041069
An anon a few threads back mentioned a tulpa who had a mask appear on it for no reason that prevented it from communicating. As he pointed out, by giving the issue attention, it will get worse. If I were you, and I aint, but if I was, I'd just talk to it like normal and try to face it like it were normal, and give little to no attention to it's current state. Hope that helps, godspeed.

Some other anons said to not do it for that purpose, what are the negatives?
>>
>>3045738
Moral guilt.
No build-up to sex and love, like first date and stuff.
Tulpa possibly being mad at you for forcing her into a relationship (pun intended)

There is no need to have moral guilt if your tulpa turns out to be okay with it though.
It is your head, why care about what people think about your morals? If they work with you, you are good.
Dates aren't really necessary for a relationship and maybe you won't even miss them.

People also blame you if you create a pony tupper, because apparently you shouldn't create pony tupperware for reasons. People say a lot of stuff. A lot of the time, people just say it because they don't want you to like stuff they don't like.
>>
>>3045738
I don't see anything wrong with creating them for that reason, but i'd still suggest you make a tulpa without any intentions of them being your significant other and letting them make that choice after they develop enough to talk. That way you can experience the fun of a blooming relationship with a tulpa and not a parrot / lifeless doll.
>>
>>3045738
One day you might stop loving them and because you only made them for the purpose of having a relationship with they will disappear. It's best to make them for another reason and have your relationship as a side thing so if it ever ends they don't end up forgotten.
>>
Romance kinda seems like a volatile and transient reason to me, BUT I have seen people report successful romantic relationships with their tup, so I could be wrong.

I avoid romance myself, though I can't lie and say my tulpa hasn't shown a large degree of interest in it despite that. It's a point where we disagree, though she respects my wishes.
>>
>>3046127
There's no good reason to make a tulpa, just my reason > your reason.

If you asked me, do I want to live somewhere as boring as earth, and literally a slave to someones mind no less, I don't think any madman would agree.
>>
>>3046953

My criteria tends to be based on the idea of how long the host is willing to stick with it, and of that ideal the host begins with is conclusive to them keeping their partner. Otherwise, I don't really judge, since people will do what they wish.

I won't get in to the whole anti-natalism-ish stuff, since it gets really silly really quick. I think tulpa making is more about one treats their own psyche, rather than bringing in a new life from some other plane.

Gotta agree with this anon, ignoring any problems and continuing to care for your tulpa is likely the way to go. The only way I could imagine negative changes like that occurring is from giving too much attention to intrusive thoughts, and if you think back there was probably some little quirk in your thoughts that you took to heart that made you change the perception of your tulpa. Your old tulpas probably still there behind all the creepypasta paranoia.

>>
>>3047451
I think it depends what stance you take on what a tulpa is. Many people, such as Kiahdaj, believe that a tulpa is more separate and individual than others. As a result, people like this are probably more inclined to say this is bad. However, people like >>3047102 have a different view, and may be more open to the idea. I wouldn't say either are wrong, but rather that you should make your own choice, keeping in mind that, for whatever side you subscribe to, you may have either brought a being into existence and possibly being cruel, or that they are part of your own psyche and it is harmless, even beneficial. I won't pretend to be an expert on the topic though.
