If you want to draw, first build a basic, geometrical view of what you want to draw (for example, some stacks of spheres). In this first step is when you think in 3D and the pose of your characters. Add lines and construct an skeleton.
While you do that, take care of not grasp your pencil too firmly. Draw careless, imperfect lines. They're only guides.
Then you go around and begin to add details.
If you want some tips, watch some speed paint videos and read Andrew Loomis' "Fun with a pencil".
I'd give it a shot if I weren't coffee-overdosed now.
