The social media aspect of the RT site used to be very popular, and many of the current RT staff members like Gavin and even Barbara herself were all originally hired because of their activity on the site. Barbara got hired as social media manager and stopped paying attention to the site community, diverting all RT's attention to places like reddit and tumblr. Since the site had been forgotten about, the users gradually moved away.
There was also that thing with the soldier and the fact that she got Kathleen fired over an argument, a popular and major employee of Rooster-teeth that worked there since the very beginning

Our general had a longstanding issue with greentext stories, and arguing about them. The mods banned most greentext stories in sight, and it didn't help that there were anons who reported every greentext they saw (some outright said they did this to cause trouble). And then there was assorted other shitposting and and mod-triggering things on top of that.
After a while I guess the mods finally got tired of having moderate RWBYg, so they said we're on hiatus from /co/ until Volume 4 comes out in fall.
