I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I was just replying to the anon's post that you have to either be very good or offer discounts to get volume. I had, in the past, sold my work for very cheap. Eventually, as I got better and time taken exceeded the worth in monetary value, I stopped. So yes, I am a great artist. I think my major flaws is that I make and drop names while not producing a lot of finished personal stuff.

I've heard similar things. But honestly, unless I've seen art from an artist that makes me think they can draw something I would like I'm kind of loathe to comm them. Like, if all an artist draws is busts of real life movie actors, why would I comm them for cub porn (just as an example), even if they say they are interested in drawing it?

If you are interested in drawing lots of different things, it can only help in the long run to do so. I've known artists for a long while that I was never interested in comming, then all of a sudden they started doing a lot of something I really liked, really well and I couldn't comm them fast enough.

I know I'm not painting the Sistine chapel. I also know I'm good though. A big thing about me is that I'm probably my harshest critic. I've just reworked an entire piece that I had spent a few days on because I didn't like it. So I really put the work in to my art that I'm proud to say is really damn good. I've been drawing for only a few years and opened myself to commissions.
Instantly got work, I'm working on couple of 100$ commissions at the moment and I have more to work on right after these are complete.
Why do I get work despite being a novice?
Designs that are based on correct anatomy.
I went straight for correct anatomy and good physique right from the get go and it works.
You can't look at fucked up design and learn from those you need to study things that are realistic.
So don't look at blobs you see on TV that are clearly meant for easy and cost free animation.
So no Pokemon, Digimon,Steven Universe, MLP or whatever are out there.
Don't look at any current cartoons and steer the fuck away from anime.
Pick up a pencil and study this guy's works.

Study Marvel, DC, look at furry art that was made in the early 00s, when people were still drawing /fit/ chicks with proper anatomy.
Look at bodybuilders and other real world people with bodies that have clear muscle structure.
Learn from that and you're set.
When you have grasped the idea of that, you can start messing with your designs and turning them into whatever the hell you want.
But you got to know how to pull off a proper body before you get into that.

Once again that would go back to the issue of what constitutes a mental illness, how societal norms impact said definition, and if such a term is even useful in the first place. I think that's an important discussion to have, but I probably wouldn't attempt to have it as I wouldn't say I'm informed enough about psychology to be able to develop an position.

2-3 days for a WIP, followed by another 2-3 days for the finished image. This was for 2 aritsts.
Another artist took about 3 weeks after the WIP, but there were a few other commissioners before me.
1 girl took like 3 months, but her only computer was broken for most of the time.

For me I had a picture done in 3 days, fully shaded, and with alternate versions because this was done during the summer and I hit their kinks just right.

Not an artist, but while that is a very obscure fetish I feel there is a very high chance any furry who does diapers will do cub. also, I feel incest is just one of those fetishes most are just not averse to in fantasy, so, I don't see why you would have any problems commisioning that, desu, imo.

"Hyper" only means big relative to the rest of the body, which is normal.

I wish more people would want to commission sketches. Sketches are so nice and easy to make compared to lining and coloring. I might spend maybe 30 minutes on a sketch but probably 3 hours on lining, I hate it.

If you're going to pay shit prices to artists, expect to get shit art in return. Artists should base-line charge $50 per commission, considering a tiny-ass illustration published in a magazine usually costs $200 ~ $400 depending on the magazine/newpaper. Professional commissions are way expensive so yeah.

Hard to say, but I've noticed the problem a lot of artists have with comms isn't pricing, but its just simply people not knowing your are offering. I know a couple artists that are REALLY good that don't get much business because they don't really put themselves out there.
