And I disagree with you. The main cast especially has had a lot of forced development. Almost all of the episodes with main character development focus on one of the characters experiencing something repeated and huge (Amethyst trying to express herself as an individual /again/, Garnet undergoing generic mental anguish /again/, Pearl misses rose /again/) and everybody else growing up to fill the character's new cracks. It's on par with killing off a character every few episodes.
