If you have a stark idea that tulpas are just constructs with no more life than a coffee machine, could you just make them to automate tasks in your mind or 'force' concentration on yourself without risk of them turning into people you'd have to ultimately cull?
I mean, mysticism and hippy crap aside, the tulpa making process is scientific, not metaphysic.
And while the consciousness you create may be a sentient being, if you fall short of that and just create a ball of programming in your mind, it's nothing more than autonomous training, kinda.
Is it possible to make a consciousness that will automate cooking? Or, I don't know, any kind of action, while you're free to do your own thing mentally?
Or unlocking true concentration by making yourself your own tulpa and forcing the idea of being able to do certain things on your own consciousness?

I'm still in that skeptical stage, I never really made any progress on them, other than talking to them every night for about four years.
Eventually it just became a habit, whether or not I'm actually speaking to anything, visualization is still hazy for me.

Not that anon, but I told one of my friends after a night out together, he knows I can get into some cool and weird stuff but this was really weird for him.
I just started off by explaining you create one and the ideas behind it, where he was pretty interested and thought it was cool. He only really started to get shocked when he realised that I considered it as an equal sentient and sapient being in my mind, and he got quite concerned when I told him she was a girl for some reason. He then wanted to have a conversation with her but she got too shy and didn't come out with anything substantial. He was pretty skeptical of it all so I told him to look up tulpa.info and then he realised I wasn't joking, and was really taken aback.
Fortunately I think he was too drunk to remember it so I'm out in the clear. No one is getting told again about this. It's just too much for people to comprehend how someone could have two people inside their mind.
What is the best way to help my Tulpa start talking? We've been struggling with it. I can feel her. We can communicate, I can generally 'feel' whatever emotion she's responding with, if that makes sense. But she can't talk.

You could try and create some sentences for her, and ask her afterwards if that's what she meant. Gotta make sure that you always still allow for her to come through with her own words though so that you don't just rely on this method

The way I've heard is explained is that it usually isn't a matter of the tulpa not talking, but the host not being able to hear them.
If you force your mind to go silent in an effort to hear your tulpa, there is a strong chance that you will also deafen yourself to their mindvoice.
One method that has worked for me (personally) is thinking of a word, then intentionally parroting the tulpa saying the word in their mindvoice. Of course, I would take a minute to explain to them what I'm about to do and what it might feel like to them. So, I would go back and forth thinking a word and parroting it a few times, then I would stop and give them a chance to try to say it. Usually during this period of silence, I would still not hear them. I would then move on to another word or short phrase and do the same thing, giving a brief period to try and hear them say the word on their own. It speaks to me almost immediately, but it doesn't have much memory, and it seems to repeat words at the beginning of sentences frequently. I do get those head pressures though, so I do have some hope.
I'm worried however, that I've just become so good at responding to myself in a different voice.

I'm also reading a few of these guides and they explain that I should do things like communing with this character that I created, and "forcing", whatever that is. But I don't see any explanation of what I'm supposed to do in a literal sense. Do I just sit my ass down and start talking to myself?

You sit your ass down and start talking to your tulpa who you're going to assume if already sentient.
Or you can just go about your day like normal and passively talk to your growing tulpa, it's not like mentally throwing out thoughts is particularly taxing.
It's only really necessary to fully focus on your tup if you're trying to do something more advanced once they are grown like visualisation or imposition.

This is something that as a community we are all trying to figure out.
My take on it all is this: You are conscious, and you are made of matter. Therefore, matter is capable of consciousness. Your matter existed before your consciousness did, so at some point the consciousness formed within the matter.
I believe the tulpa phenomenon is the formation of new and distinct consciousness within your own matter.

You don't have to do that you know. Your tulpa will generally naturally fill in a personality anyway, and personally I didn't predetermine my tup's personality. If you're really struggling and feel you need to pin down a personality however, just steal one from fiction - your tulpa will deviate over time from the personality you give it anyway.
