I think lots of artists try to get jobs in the comic/cartoon industry and are worried that their background as a furry porn artist will hold them back from "legitimate" employment.
Of course we all know the fact that they didn't spend $55,453 a year to go to CalArts is the only thing that matters in the end. And yes that is the actual tuition btw.
Sometimes it's a phase.
Sometimes the money is better.
Sometimes the community is intolerable and try and hunt you down and stalk you.
Sometimes you have to take a break.
Not just G-sun, but a lot of artist too that were on Dr. Comet's oekaki board. They all seemed to have vanished at the turn of the decade.
I really wish there was an archive of his boards. There was some really awesome lewds in there.

And even then, it's still a taboo subject that carries a lot of judgement to it, especially among normies. My IRL friends and family wouldn't look at me the same way ever again if they found out that I whack it to furshit, and I imagine drawing it would be on a whole different level of embarrassment and shame.

What if you want to make it as a professional artist? You're going to have to associate your identity with what you draw eventually. And from that point there will always be the risk of people connecting the dots between your professional work and your dirty smut.
Although I disagree with the notion that drawing stuff like furry porn would bar you from employment (Paul Robertson drew some nasty shit but still got to work for Disney of all companies), the fact that people from the internet and real life can find out that YOU draw that kind of smut in the first place is enough to mentally fuck with some people to the point where they delete all their stuff.
I personally think trying to scrub your porn off the internet is a fruitless endeavor that will only draw more attention to you at the end, but I understand why they do it in the first place.

Ok, here's what happened. Dog-Bone stole all kinds of shit from other artists. Dog-Bone got called out on it by other artists. FA admins step in to tell Dog-Bone to knock it off. Dog-Bone deletes their posts. Admins ban Dog-Bone for being unethical and asshole. Dog-Bone opens InkBunny account, complains about lack of commissioners. Commissioners complain about how Dog-Bone doesn't deliver and jerks people around until Paypal's 45-day refund period ends, then completely ignores them. Dog-Bone opens Paetron since NEEDS MONEY, currently has about 64 die-hard fans of traced and stolen art giving Dog-Bone about $500 a month.
So new stuff is posted to InkBunny(or was) and now Paetron.

I can respect an artist choice to get out of the game as long as he respects me and gives me fair warning or at least SOME kind of indication they're leaving or never coming back.
Do you see famous rock band just up and quitting? no you will always see " x farewell performance tour" it's basically saying "hey if you're a fan of me here's the last time to get [insert media] from me before there's no more", it's fucking respect some of these artist have people that literally lined their pockets and allowed them to live with a pretty easy job for a time I do think a bit of respect goes a long fucking way and that's regardless of the situation, if it's drama you don't have to do a detail documentary just say "sorry guys some things in my life aren't right now and because of that i'm quitting" and that's it but up and leaving and nuking your gallery without a single word is fucking disrespectful as hell to the people that follow and support you.

This is exactly how I feel, if you're trying go low key, just stop making art as your smut persona, and if you're not a paranoid ass, maybe give your fans time to save your work before you disappear. And unless you have a very specific way of drawing or work in a very small circle, if someone encounters your smut, it can easily be waved away as someone just having a similar style to you (I've legitimately seen artists that are practically identical).
Generally though, I can't imagine a situation where someone would be able to relate your professional work to your smut work, there are tens of thousands of artists in the furry game, and hundreds of thousands in the art game in general, I'd wonder where someone came across my smut work in the first place, to be honest.

Not necessarily a furry example, but there was this one fat artist on /co/ who got called out in one of the threads where his smut was posted. Apparently someone pointed out that the art style of his smut was basically identical to a SFW request he did in the board's drawthread a few years before the fact. The artist came out and admitted it since it was pretty obvious that he did it.
