You guys ever include anything toy related as your interests and hobbies on a resume?
are there really ways of making things like making model kits or collecting toys seem like a good thing?
I guess you could also put down things like photography
>>
No.
No.
I guess that would be the best way to put it.
>>
>>5555524
no...unless it's something that could be considered a tertiary skill, somehow beneficial to the company, or paints you in a good light don't mention it.

maybe if you had interest in buildling RC planes or geology it might be ok to mention, but collecting action figures? no

No.

No.
>I guess you could also put down things like photography
Saying you enjoy photography is fine, saying you enjoy taking photos of toys is not.

I think of every potential employer as an idiot normie who likes nothing but sports and drinking beer with other idiot normies. If it's not something that a normie would enjoy, I wouldn't put it on my resume.

It's a harsh truth, but that's the catch 22 of finding a job.
They want someone outstanding, but also completely plain and unexceptional who'll fall in line like an obedient wage slave.
>>
>>5555524
more important question
what do you guys put on your resume?
>photography
>woodwork
>sculpting and woodcarving
>painting (Gunpla)
>>
>>5555696
I play and teach guitar in my spare time.

That's usually enough to impress any normie interviewers, especially if they're female.
>>
>>5555708
yeah,
your one of the lucky ones here that actually has something worth bragging about.
>>
>>5555713
>implying you have to actually do any of the shit you say you do on your resume

They're hardly going to ask me to whip out my guitar and play a few chords for them are they anon? I could be the world's worst guitar play for all they know.

The point is, put things on your resume that make you seem like a good upstanding citizen that will be a credit to their organisation, even if it's just for a shitty retail job.

No surprise the economy is so fucked up.

It's about 25/75 for me on my side business. The private sector always held it against me. The government was either outraged or ambivalent.

No one gives a fuck about hobbies on a resume. Stop doing it.
>>
>>5555765

>interviewer writes 'fuckin loser' on clipboard.

It's not about whether they care or not, it's about painting a picture of yourself as an interesting, charismatic and exceptional yet totally normal human being who can potentially work for their company.

Of course your experience and qualifications matter too, but having a fully fleshed out resume is what sets you apart from every other schmuck who thinks putting hobbies on a resume is a waste of time.

I used some photos I took of Lego minifigs as part of my resume.

I got the job. Of course, my boss was actively trying to court me, so I probably could have gotten it even without the Legos.
>>
>not getting brought on by a family member/friend for your first job
Sucks to be you guys
I'm a 19yo college dropout making $10/hour at a real estate startup, gonna be working on commission within a few months.

But seriously, find someone you or your family know whose trying to,do a startup or small business, it's probably the best resumé fodder and you have a much faster track to making decent money and acquiring skills than you will fishing for wages at McDonald's.
>>
>>5555524
Why would you put anything like that on your resume?
>>
>>5555708

Playing guitar impresses them? Are you being interviewed by 16 year olds?

>>
>>5557720
Nepotism refers to being promoted/placed above others in priority due to family ties.
Getting brought on because someone NEEDS an employee and you're readily available isn't nepotism. I didn't get hired in place of anyone else.

Stay mad when others try to use their fortunate circumstances to give others advice though. Hearty source of keks

$10/hour. Wow, you're definitely going places. Family is the only place that would want you other than McD's. Nothing says "I can't finish anything, don't hire me" louder than dropping out.
>>
>>5557805
I have to do information gathering via phone calls pretty much all day, and when I start commission work I'll be out evaluating properties daily.
I don't really see the value lost in not having to be out peddling resumés on the street to get a minimum wage job anyways.

I realize the way I worded my post was bragging a bit, but I didn't really expect people to be this mad. I'm not really saying anything that hasn't been saud before by much smarter people than myself.
>>
>>5557816
To be fair, modern college is a fucking joke. Unless you're in a STEM program or are rich enough to go to a school with tons of connections it's pretty useless for getting a job these days.

So you can still have all that today.

>>5558362
You're missing their point. The change isn't just in the livability of minimum wage, it's in the idea of 'livable wage'. It'd be a lot easier to live on minimum wage without paying for internet, cable, cellphones, etc.

You dumb?
Point still stands, because you have 3 other weeks of getting paid a living wage to waste that money on whatever the hell you want.

Okay, it's two weeks of whatever you earned, since you gotta pay for water, electricity and food.
>>
I can see it being beneficial if you're applying for an engineering job since toys are still one of the hardest things to manufacture. Unless it's funko poop.
>>
>>5557705
>>5555744
>>5555761
Kind of missing the real point where that impresses potential employers: "I ... teach guitar". That directly correlates to customer service interaction and employee teamwork.
>>
>>5558362
Or we should bust the inefficiency and corruption that caused the insane inflation in certain industries. The health industry rakes in cash like crazy with insane prices, you can't expect a mom and pop store to pay enough to make up for the health industry's disproportionate inflation.

Raising the minimum wage is not the answer, it's busting corruption, inefficiency, and making sure more jobs come into the country than leave it.
>>
>>5558595
>either or
>not both
shame shame

It's easier to pass regulations than it is to fix the system, btw. You just need to hope that enough people will give a shit and see how unfair/crappy things are that they'll do something about.
Sometimes it takes for things to truly fuck up before they do anything, even if it's too late (see Katrina and New Orleans).
>>
>>5560165
Not that anon, but in regards to healthcare specifically it has nothing to do with "regulations"
The US is one of the last western countries where the Gov't engages in market competition for healthcare-related equipment, property, etc.
Meaning, unlike in other countries where healthcare is considered a utility (like water or electricity) and the prices the Gov't will pay for equipment and properties are capped off very low, in the U.S. the medical industry encourages price gouging and trying to push for profits that can be reinvested which races prices astronomically.

In other words, let's say you need a hip replacement. In America, a Gov't-subsidized hospital actually "shops" for the equipment needed for that procedure, while in most Western countries the same hospital would simply take the best offer within whatever price range the gov't would subsidize.

Largely because of this (and issues surrounding medical prescriptions, but that's a different subject), Americans on average pay 5x what they should be paying for equivalent hospital procedures.
And that's not even getting into tax bracket problems or social entitlement collapse.
Point being, this liberal "give the poor more money!" Robin Hood crap wouldn't be feasible, even if it weren't already unjustifiably self-righteous.

>It'd be a lot easier to live on minimum wage without paying for internet, cable, cellphones, etc.

1. Who the fuck would get cable and not just pay a few bucks a month for Netflix?

2. Internet can be pretty cheap.

3. Cellphone is pretty much a necessity to exist in the modern world. You don't need a smartphone, but you need a phone. And an unlimited no contract plan can be had from Walmart for $45 a month.

It's not about the expenses, it's about purchasing power. When you measure purchasing power you include a standard "basket of goods" and a deflator, or you can't accurately compare one time period to the other.

Dude....just don't. How would that even help you land a job? For TRU maybe...but most do group interviews. San Francisco minimum wage is $12.25 /hr.
But the rent is so high that you will end up paying most if not all of that in rent. Many companies offer $19 and above starting there due to the high cost of living.
a 1 bed room is like over $2000/month
a studio is over $1500/ month
And no parking of course.

San Francisco and everything that comes out of it is shit.

Anyway, most people don't work in the cities they live in, especially in today's job market. So minimum wage chumps have to travel far to get to their workplace, because that's the only place they could find work.

I know people who live almost an hour away from their jobs, but mostly because they love farm animals and only rural areas allow them. They're well off though.
