So...what good are ankle tilts?

I don't understand what to do other than test gravity.

...I snapped a tab on one of the helicopter chicks, never happened on all the previous iterations of the mold but I learnt I have been transforming them wrong, you don't rip it up at an angle and hope it bends (because that's how they snap) but you lift up.

Mind you had to use tweezers for that, so I imagine many kids fucking these over, they'll be fine, its a small chunk and I only glued it back on because autism

Where the crack is, sorry I poorly described it.

I've been yanking these tail rotor bits off the others and only until now did I see any plastic warping and in this case a breakage.

Which is funny as the balljoints fall off quicker than the optimus maximus limbs, can't tell if weaker plastic or I've become stronger since

people tend to like ankle tilts because it allows you to keep the figure flat-footed in wide action poses, which looks better and creates more stability.

Makes alot more sense when the figure itself is designed with PROPER poseability in mind, vicky's thighs suck shit and the "knee" ratchets clicked out on their own trying to take this shot.

I do admit this is cool but she's just as unstable as HFG's, difference being they hold until I BREATH on it rather than slide bit by bit

Gotta say I can come pretty close with the HFG's, the trick is using the thumb on the balance points.

In my own opinion this might be why takara is so reliant on HFG's, they know the arms do ALOT, but the legs are limited, well provided you don't use them side on like some people do with the "long truck" mold

Pretenders when?
>>
>>5763126
I'd love that.
>>
>>5763126
Pretenders would be cool, provided they could find a way of getting the gimmick to work without resorting to inarticulate rubbery shells. What they could do if they wanted to keep some level of "gimmick" would be include snap-on armour pieces designed after the shells, keeping articulation whilst maintaining the "spirit" of the original toys.

Alternatively, they could just do "normal" Transformers with bio-mechanical designs that homaged the shells (so for example, Skullgrin would have a robot mode resembling his original shell and would transform into a technorganic tank made of muscle, bone and weapons).
>>
>>5763135
now, i wasnt around the pretenders era.

what exactly is the gimmick there?

a non transforming toy that just sits inside a another toy?
and the transformation is taking the toy out of the other toy?
>>
>>5763137

Not quite.

The inner toy does transform.

But you are correct about the actual gimmick though.

>tfw you can't think of any good NEW gimmicks transformers could use next

I'm calling it now, next year after titan wars will be a return to the old classics/generation toys where the toys are just damn good on their own with the only gimmick being character specific.

We've got everything classic done, we can't even go micromasters because of the titan masters/legion class and spring loaded gimmicks suck thanks to current safety laws

And pretenders?

Gotta make it something you can buy add on parts towards and then the engineering required to do anything fun with the shells outside of tossing out the shell and just homaging them
>>
>>5763141
all of that sounds like something hasbro would not do at the current state.

selling a thing thats big enough to fit a transformer?
and both having some level of articulation?

like, the current transformers are already budget cut to shit.
>>
>>5763135
You've suggested that armour thing before, It's a stupid solution, they're Pretenders, not Armourizers.

Make a posable outer shell, with a chest big enought to contain the inner figure. Job done.
>>
>>5763142
bring back minicons and springloaded gimmicks.
lets do armada again.
>>
>>5763142

>micromasters

They already did at least one with Blackjack. Might as well retool him for everything else.

Or, go against all of the 3rd party companies and make Micromaster combiners, if we are still imposing incorrect gimmicks on characters/lines.

So long as we stay away from another Legends Abominus, that is.

>Road Hugger and Detour when?

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Micromaster-sportscarpatrol-toys.jpg
>>
>>5763149
But we need to go FORWARD with new gimmicks.

We have minicons with RiD and they're just pucks.

I'll only accept armada minicons if they didn't just activate one gimmick, like one "type" activates a spring out missile, another does a spring loaded armor reveal and another opens a port to allow certain combiners to slot in which I'd go gaga for

If we need another gimmick that isn't odd-number combiners, might as well make it a fire hazard.

That'd be a neat way to reintroduce the Seacons, anyway.

New gimmicks? Hmm. How about a gimmick centred around 5mm weapons and shit? No, wait, MechTech already did that and everybody hated it. Bugger.

>>
>>5763158
I've been trying to think of a way to bring back Powermasters, but more than being things that lock the figure in one mode, all that is is a hinderance. My thought was to make them act like power ups, Getaway for example is a escapist, so his powermaster could activate hidden escape tools, but I don't know if it'd translate well to figures.
>>
>>5763193
>My thought was to make them act like power ups
So Armada Minicons?
>>
>>5763190
We got the RiD line for that unless they decide to intergrate it more into future toys.

Say 2 faction symbols were one is completely hidden in vehicle mode, this way kids can freely take vehicle ones without buying the figure but robot mode ones where all the firepower are stuck within robot mode.

>>5763193
Kinda sounds like the armada gimmick which sounds nice on paper but as you said hindrance
>>
>>5763195
Well, minicons are based on the master gimmicks, so in a way, yes.

That'd be neat. Perhaps they could use that formula to give us a Voyager scale Cybertron-esque Optimus Prime with a deluxe scale Leobreaker that can form a decent Savage Claw mode.

For best results unscrew the "face" off first.

You could make it easy for yourself, drench the face in lacquer silver, topcoat that in gloss to protect it, throw some sticky tack OVER the face one the lacquer gloss has dried leaving the other helmet clean, drench that in your purple of choice, top coat again, then get a TINY brush and some acrylic red for the eyes, if no good use acrylic thinner on a q-tip and dab away excess until you're happy with the eyes (the lacquer gloss will protect the silver just don't drown the q-tip or the face) , topcoat the whole thing again.

Alternatively you could hand paint the outer helmet and or sticky tack most of the face apart from the eyes.

I build gundam models, I'm shit at minor details but this is the easiest way to do it without bothering with priming sanding and air brush crap.

So I got the SDCC fort max coming, but a friend is hinting my up coming birthday present being "big" and since I shifted from gundam to transformers its narrowed down what he might give me, and no doubt he'll be paying top dollar.

What should I do since IF if the retail fort max I still have time to cancel my sdcc, should I be a dick and sell the hasbro (after gutting cerebros's titan master), keep both (note I have gen metroplex so room is limited) or just cancel the sdcc and enjoy the money I saved?

You know what annoys me about this? I think the Beast Wars mainline is already in perfect scale with the G1 masterpieces, so they should have made the BW masterpieces scale with the BW mainline! Fuck, it just kills me inside that they did not do that, because it is so obvious what a perfect situation it is, and they just fucked it up.

Yeah but they are only doing season 1 forms. I prefer Meg's transmetal form, and I think Meg's season 1 toy is already in good scale with the rest of the BW line, so I would not need an MP version of it if that is the one I wanted.

You know what bothers me a lot? A guy like RTS Jazz doesn't fit in with the G1 masterpieces because he is too small. That is soul crushing. It makes me wonder if I would be happier with smaller masterpieces, a 7.75 inch MP10 instead of 9.5.

And what about cool guys like Movie 07 Bonecrusher and FOC Fireflight? They just don't fit with the current G1 MPs because they are too short, which is a shame.
>>
>>5763488
We got a release date for this fucker yet?
I want them to hurry the fuck up with Liokaiser.
>>
>>5763437
The original toy is great for sure (or so I'm told) but there's room for improvement- ankle articulation and wrist swivels would be nice, and most of his detail is stickers. Also, an MP scaled Laser Prime would just be cool full stop- and more G2 MPs is always cool.
>>5763421
Fuck yeah G2 Megatron would be awesome.

Speaking of which, what are some non-G1 MPs you guys would want? I can think of a few.
>Clench and Pyro (yes I know their status as G1 or not is up for debate, would still be cool)
>RID Megatron (Especially as all you'd need to do is replace the gripping mechanism with proper torso articulation, let the wings flip around in dragon mode so they "flap" the right way and put his head on a balljoint- that aside it'd mainly be an upscale job)

You know the problem with MPs of Laser Prime and G2 Megatron? There's no cartoon design to try and be accurate to. MP G1 improves upon the original toys while also properly adhering to the Sunbow models, and MP BW improves upon the already good BW toys by adhering to the Mainframe CG.

What is there to improve on the G2 guys? In a visual sense, that is?
>>
Got my UW bruticus. Blast-off does not hold together at the legs. Like I move bruticus elbows and blast-offs legs come unpegged. Anyone else have the same issue? The pegs that hold his legs together are piss weak.
>>
>>5763538
Can't you peg his tailfin onto the back of his legs?
>>

You can but it does not do much to keep the legs pegged together

>>
Is the RID Warrior class Grimlock any good? I was thinking about getting the G1 inspired colors since it's only $10. Also, is there any way to tighten the FOC Grimlock's shoulder swivels and knees? They're getting kind of loose.
>>
>>5763534
>What is there to improve on the G2 guys? In a visual sense, that is?

That's a really good point. I don't know what else can they improve other than adding more joints, there's no design to imitate other than the actual toy.
>>
>>5763528
I would really like an MP Armada Starscream.
>>
>>5763554
Same, but I see why it doesn't hold together that well; Blast-Off's pelvis ball joints extend slightly further than other figures, so when you try and connect the legs, they split apart since they don't go straight down they go slightly inward.

I'm not sure if I explained that properly, but that's the issue.

Mine also seems to have an issue with the waist. It's super tight, and the waist scrapes against the dot that serves to align it, so it slightly deforms the plastic in that area.
>>
>>5763564
I get what u r saying, mine has the same issue with the super tight waist. I will probably just sand down the bumps that make it tight. And try to thicken the pegs on the legs to see if it helps with being so loose.
>>
>>5763572
At least they actually tried fixing the helicopter molds peg issues.

Hasbro should just provide them as many needed versions of the figure in each of its modes.
>>
>>5763582
I own both releases, the UW seems to have over all better tolerances, and peg holes are all the right size, joints are all tight (CW helicopters have floppy waists, so they made awful arms, UW Vortex has a better waist)

The only one with issues is Blast-Off:

-Paint in areas that are easy to scrape off (the entire cockpit section)
-Pelvis ball joints are floppy
-Legs don't fit in well

I still like the UW over the CW releases, but I'll have to put some work into Blast Off to make it better.

>>

They have enough fodder to remold a bunch of modern TF toys into pseudo brave stuff as is. Brave is a legal minefield, but call it something else. Maybe even make it so Hasbro can possibly bring it over as a shared universe thing. Combiner wars could be a good start. I know people are tired of those molds by now, but maybe with some decent remolding we can see something cool?

The Hot Spot mold makes a good heroic leader. Remold the combiner head so it looks more Brave-y. The two Nosecones can work as legs as a GGG homage. then maybe Streetwise/Prowl for an arm, andDragstrip for the other, or maybe two jets for arms?

Sky Lynx could make for a great side villain, maybe with Aerialbot repaints for limbs? Or a military theme, so the helicopter, Brawl, and Rook with a jet?

Optimus/Motormaster with Offroad, Swindle/Hound, Rook, and Breakdown as limbs, as the secondary, more bulky hero, that can lend his stronger limbs to the main hero for a power boost?

Or you can also dig up old UT molds. Cybertron Megatron would make an excellent brave villain. And Cybertron Hot Shot is basically a classic Brave hero.

Takara contracted Sunrise to make the anime and do design work. Sunrise frequently collaborated with Bandai for Gundam and other series. Around the late 90's, Bandai and Sunrise merged. So in order to use any of the old brave stuff, some money has to go to Sunrise(and possibly vice versa on Bandai's end, when they make something Brave). Obviously being competitors, this isn't something they really want.

Keep in mind, though, the basic Brave concept isn't copyrighted, so you have things like Cybertron/GF or TF Goo!! which take a lot of inspiration from those series, but without being official Brave series(and as stated, HM and Victory being the forefathers of the franchise.) Of course, being that Brave series aren't really in continuity with each other, there's really no reason to bring back the name for something new anyway.

Between Deluxe and Voyager sized figures that merge with the rest of what a Leader budget would allow. Voyagers that can become shoes, gloves, backpack, chest plate, and helmet.

Three "Leader" class molds with supermodes. Hopefully at least three Voyager molds that become add-on armor for Godmodes. Two Deluxe trio combiner teams (at least 4 unique molds) to be secondary big robots.

Make it Armada Trilogy anniversery themed in name for marketing.

Someone saved a pic of my shitty galvatronus. neat.

So i was thinking of what spooky attributes grand galvatrons components could have. star scream of course has all sorts of ghostly intangibility/phasing powers, maybe some invisibility and limited powers of possession?

breakdown i figured would be restored mentally, but would still have zombie like abilities, brushing off massive would be fatal injury and maybe even having that "strain" style vampire stinger to drain energy and repair himself?
cyclonus is straight up possessed by an "evil spirit", but what about the other two?
