Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.

what do you use for panel lining them? do they need sealant?
>>
>>5756316
I used Tamiya Panel Line Accent on Materia, but I see no reason why alternatives like mechanical pencil and those fine-tip Gundam markers wouldn't work. I'm not using any sealant on mine just because I'm never really convinced I'm "done" working on them, per se, but a layer of matte topcoat would probably do you just fine.

Really, all of this information is in the Gunpla General's guide.
>>
Do Jinrai and Archiect have the same wrist joints as Materia? I've now ham handed both of my Materia's wrist joints, despite being extremely careful after breaking the first one. The peg just snaps off and comes off with the hand. If this shits gonna keep happening I'll have to look into replacements of some kind.

Speaking of, I managed finally finished my Architect tonight, got everything set up, found her a coat I think she'd look good in (salvaged from an old marvel figure, might be too big in the shoulder for her) and was trying to pose her and bent her hair piece across the hinge instead of with it like a dumbass.

So until I can find a replacement hobby joint for it, she's going to have to rock a short 'do.

And I clearly need to doctor this coat a bit for her, it hangs way loose in the shoulder, but this is my first attempt at clothed photography.

Damn it. Now I need a pomock.
How big of difference is there between light armor and regular?
>>
>>5757222
For one Pomock is a light armor Shinki, you mean between the Prototype and Light armor variant.

The main difference is that the Prototype comes with no armor. Just her tail, back adapter, some hands, and an axe. Also Proto-Pomock is an MMS 1 body. The Light Armor has actual armor and is an MMS 3 body however, it doesn't have the proto's axe.

The boobs, hair, and face parts have no method to hold them together. Muscuto recommended blutack but I just outright magnetized it.

Also, there are some extremely tiny parts you should be careful of. Namely the little cover that goes behind the knees on the thighs and the little valve kind of thing on her chest area.

If I get Nagi just for a prop I'll use in 3-4 comics, I'll wind up getting a Schmetterling just for her mic stand, a Tsugaru just for her rifles, a Zielbellen Sapphire just for her unique shotel, a Fort Bragg just for her PDA, two of the skygirls just for their bear and laptop ... I already have 48 shinkis and if I need an excuse for anything, it'd be an excuse to -stop- getting more of them.

Just don't snort the shit. A dust mask is sufficient for it, especially if you're wet sanding.

Finished the initial build for architect's main body. She's pretty neat. Thinner than the other kits and her "armor" is much simpler. Waist section is a totally new mold instead of just reusing stylet's, which surprised me. Only gripe would be that I can't take care of the seamlines in her forearm if I want to keep the partswap gimmick. Or I have to order a new set of elbows. I'm not sure why they insist on having the elbow permanently attached to the black strip on her upper arm.

The feet are nice in that they've got some heel articulation to keep her balanced regardless of stance, the shoulder armor is super simple and doesn't require seamwelding.

Doesn't use materia's hips so not quite as posable there, but she's compatible with materia, so you can improve that if you want.

Alright, so apparently the high heels that came with my Werkstra weren't standard, so I made a quick mold of them to recast. (Did they come from another shinki, or are they completely custom?) And Waffebunny's nude head is just about ready. Just need to wait for the last bit of apoxie to dry and then I can paint it to make sure it won't look like total shit.
>>
>>5763319
You're using apoxie as a casting material? That's not ideal, but good luck.
>>
>>5763319
Heels look like they're from Masaki Apsy's shinki clothing line.
>>
>>5763348
Just for her barrettes to make them pop a bit more since she's pretty flat without the ear holders. It worked pretty well when I recasted a Materia face with the mouth filled in as one of my experiments, so I'm not too worried.
>>
>>5763319
Will you be selling any heads? I'm going to order some water slide decals soon.
>>
>>5763748
If it comes out well enough, I may sell the headset-less blank for the Waffesisters, and I just got Grapprap who would benefit from the same thing, but I don't think she's too popular. I've also got Werkstra faces that came out pretty well. The heels I'm still on the fence about straight up bootlegging, but it's not totally out of the question.

Aside from that, the mold making has been fairly hit or miss on if it damages the original part's paint job, so I'm nervous to experiment with some of the rarer/more expensive girls.

This thing is the gold standard of resin kits as far as I'm concerned.
ZERO flashing or bubbles on the resin, all surfaces smooth as butter and everything fits together perfectly.
Oh and injected plastic joints and stand included too.
She also comes with nude chest and crotch pieces too, because reasons.
All I've done on this is trim the pour tabs and glue bits together.
I hope e2046 never get their hands on this, because they will fucking butcher it.

Did you magnetize the swappable parts?

>>5766918
Nowhere near as posable as a shinki, arms and legs only go up to around 90 degrees.

That said, still a lot of character.

You can see more of it by the maker at twitter.com/muscuto
>>
>>5766936
not yet, plan to put magnets in the chest though.
The face doesnt need magnets though. once the chin and the bottom/back of the head are glued into place, the changeable parts just slide in from the top.
>>
>>5766941
What kind of magnets do you use for plastic kits? Are there guides on how to put magnets on kits?
I've seen tabletop minis having magnets or two in their build.
>>
>>5766941
The head that comes with the deluxe pack you might want to magnetize since that one's got swappable faces. I've ordered a full set of faceparts from him which I'll see hopefully soon. I bought my copy of the sand icebreaker from him in person so I don't know how he handle mailorders. Does he notify you when he's shipped the package?

>>5766974
You use a pinvise to drill a hole and you glue the magnet in with superglue. It's not brain surgery. As for magnet type, use neodymium of suitable size. Google should be able to find you a source to buy them from. I usually default to 2.5mm diameter ones but you may want smaller depending on the project.
>>
>>5766974
Drill a hole the same size as the magnet, then glue the magnet in the hole.
>>5767008

Just saw at Anime Expo that Koto has a con exclusive FAG. It's the base FAG, but a slightly bright green with the KOTO logo on it.

Didn't look bad, but they wanted almost 60 for it which felt very very overpriced.

I might go back and grab the Cu-Poche friends they had though.

A lot of newfangled cellphones attach that to your pics by default. And it's not really something that most people think about.

I remember seeing a couple 4chan post collages about hunting autists down by the metadata from a picture they posted. I think it was of a /v/ autist taking a picture of a kid playing a PS3 in bestbuy and making fun of sony fans by calling them children or something.

I was just thinking today about how to sort of update gourai. Basically the answer I got is to either swap her base body with Architect and for the forearms either mod gourai's to accept the architect's hinge wrists or else use architect's arm adapters and swap on original FA Gourai's forearms for the slightly oversized look which I think could work well on gourai.

You would need to paint of course.
>>
>>5769571
What's different about Architect's hips? Aren't they the same design?
>>
>>5769801
The hip engineering is overall the same, but the fixed the molding and it doesn't pop off as easily. It also has Stylets skirt flaps instead of Gourai's fixed piece skirt.

So it fixed gourai's hip problem and has slightly improved range.

Are there specific shinkis that are more prone to plasticizer leaks?
>>
>>5775778
yes
>>
>>5775778
All of the really early ones are prone to it. The first releases of Strarf and Arnval, Maochao, Howling, the Waffe sisters, Jusivy and, especially, Zyrdarya are ones known to do it.

My Xiphos and Tigris feel like they might do it, but haven't yet. I don't own Benio or Vitulus to check them.

>>

>At this point probably 70% or so of them on the market leak anyways.
Well that's depressing.
>>
>>5776206
>probably 70% or so of them on the market leak anyways.
disgusting. We really need new shinkis now.
>>
>>5775789
Is there a list I can refer to or a general idea of which shinkis leak the least?
>>
Y'all are paranoid. I've owned dozens of these over the past 8 years, most of them from the early waves, and out of all of them only one Strarf hair piece and some Wafebunny gear has had any noticeable leakage - and washing them once fixed the problem. I've had worse luck with older Revoltechs and a bunch of gashapon toys.
>>
>all this talk of leaks
As someone who has absolutely no knowledge of shinkis, I have to ask. What the hell is leaking out of them and why?
>>
>>5776690
Certain older MMS1 shinki have parts made of a kind of plastic that uses a compound to maintain softness. It will leak eventually.
>>
>>5776206
Hmm okay. Does the repainted version leak too?
>>
>>5776476
>>5776627
I meant specifically of Howling.
>>
>>5776632
Check the guide in the OP. It lists Shinkis in chronological order. Anything after wave 7 almost certainly won't leak. And I've never seen reports of a Eukrante or Ianeira leaking, either, but Tigris was after them and sometimes feels sticky, so I dunno.
>>
>>5776895
maybe yours just loves the masutah cummies
>>
>>5776690
Plasticizer. It's not specific to shinkis, it can happen to almost any toy. All depends on the plastic's content. It might never happen to you. Just slightly more common here because they're older toys than say new figmas
>>
>>5776957
Actually it's not just that they're old. I've had my Zyr for 4 years and she always had this issue, and a bunch of shinkis I got later, which are as old now as she was then, have no problem with it.

In the late aughts, japanese companies were trying to save money because of oil prices and changed the plastic formula they were using. Figmas, revoltechs and shinkis from this age all suffered. When the plasticizer leeching issue became really common, and consumers complained, the companies switched away from it. Which is why later shinkis almost never leak.

This same plastic is also the kind that stains easily, which is why you see lots of reports of older figmas being stained by their own accessory's paint.
>>
>>5777015

Also, just as a note, I have several amdrivers that are much older than shinkis, and they all use soft plastic and none of them leech. Age can be a factor but it really has more to do with plastic content.
>>
>>5776683
Tell me about it, the amount of plasticizer that leaks from my shinkis is trivial compared to the horror story that is my original release revoltech Gurren Lagann getting a real bad case of the stickies. Had to give him 3 cycles in a soap bath before the stickiness started going away.
>>
I told you guys, if you want protection from plasticizer leakage, you have to sacrifice a Benio in a Satanic ritual.
>>
>>5777556
I'd rather throw the gladius sisters or Raptias and Artille into a bonfire.
>>
Possibly stupid question. Would a thin layer of resin stop leakage?
>>
>>5777730
That would probably make thinks worse. This isn't like a bottle with a hole in it, the plastic itself is degrading. You'd likely wind up with splotches of disintegrated resin flakes floating on sticky funk that otherwise would have washed off easily.
>>
>>5777730
No, but recasting the offending parts in resin and replacing will.
>>
>>5775899
I mentioned it as an idea, but was and still am too busy to actually do much with it. I do think it might be a fun and useful activity to brainstorm up different charts and stuff to use for it if anyone in the future might want to do something.

Sure it might be a bette place over at tg, but the general audience is wrong.
>>
>>5778561

There's the remnants of someone else's busou shinki RPG out there on the interwebs on a wiki. Might be good to look that up and see what they did. There's also Battle Rondo wikis that have the names of all the shinkis parts and some stats and trivia. (RIP Battle Rondo. I really wish we could still access all the files for that for stat tracking.)

>>5777607
>harming arraps
>instead of actually lousy shinkis

>>
>>5778592

And on that note, browsing the battle rondo wiki, I made a mistake about Eukrante a while back. She -can't- call you 'Husband' - it's Arnval that does that. Eukrante's custom titles are Nii-san, Nee-san, Senpai and Chairman.

Hope the Anon that was interested in that sees this.
>>
>>5778609
>nii-san
Fuck. Right in the dick.
>>
>>5778709
I did s'more digging and it's kind of sad. The Japanese battle rondo wiki has incomplete information, so we'll likely never know what the unlockable titles for Graffias or Vespellio were. I didn't check everyone either, so there's likely still more missing info.

But the battle rondo wiki does have some transcripts for some of the girls' in-game dialog, which reveals a bit about their personalities. Graffias, for instance, seems to be a battle-hungry wild warlord type. She has lines like "I hate the word 'hope' - I only care about ambition!" and several references to war and the battlefield.
>>
>>5778852
sounds like my assessment of her grin as a "...mongrels." sort of grin was fairly on-target.
>>
>>5778933

She'd make a pretty good Gerudo
>>
>>5778852
Fuck, now I can't help but imagine her as 6-inch tall delicious brown female Eliphas the Inheritor. Now I want her even more (with my Lavina as the Araghast to her Eliphas...and presumably Strarf Bis as Carron. KARDBAWD BAWKSES).
>>
>>5778968

Based on my limited understanding from google translate, she seemed pretty no-nonsense and business like. I had to check twice to make sure they hadn't mistranscribed Murmeltier's dialog into Graffias' page.
>>
>>5778979
Well Eliphas is pretty srs bsns as far as Chaos Lords go (not an idiot like Bale, not homicidally angry like Crull and not a total screeching mong like Carron) and both his VAs gave him a sexy, silky voice/no nonsense demeanour. Also he gets shit done.

Sorry, I'm lapsing into fa/tg/uy mode. I dunno, I just love the idea of an evil warlord Shinki. But then I have lots of stupid ideas for Shinki personalities that completely contradict their canon behaviour, notably:
>Lavina being bipolar, being a sweet and gentle Shinki without her armour and switching into full on bloodthirsty overlord mode with her armour on.
>Murmeltier is a Drill-Sergeant-Nasty type who has resorted to whiskey-flavoured jelly cans to repress the memories of her torment at the hands of a previous abusive master
>Tsugaru, AKA "Shinki Claus" is both a symbol of joy and a figure of dread- at Christmas time she delivers parts and jelly cans to all the good little Shinkis. The rest of the year she flies around "harvesting" the gifts she gives by hunting down and disassembling wounded Shinkis and making their parts into gifts.
>>
>>5778596
> lousy shinkis

That's why i mentioned the four shinkis with downs syndrome.

So she's Maryceles?
>>
>>5779264
Huh, I forgot about that. Derp. Doesn't help that my headcanon for Maryceles is just that she's a grump who acts as a sort of "mission control" for the "evil" Shinkis, albeit one with a bad attitude and a filthy mouth.

The "evil" side of my Lavina (in my collection) is less "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" frothing berserker rage and more "NO, FEEBLE HUMAN MEAT-MAGGOT, I AM THE MASTER" Galvatron-esque insanity/megalomania. But then I have very little familiarity with the "canon" personalities of the Shinkis outside of the anime (which IIRC takes liberties with the "true" source material) and prefer to just characterize them as I see fit.

Besides, not EVERY Shinki of a model will have the same personality...r-right?
>>
>>5779276
Not really. using Maryceles again, she's bipolar as fuck but her Lemuria variant is spoiled child. However, I think the Arnvals and Strarfs are close in personality.
>>
>>5779276
Anime supports that. Consider the slightly autistic Hina compared to the evil one in the last arc, and the various soldiery Arnvals doing anti-terrorist training on the plane compared to Ann.
