Voyager.
Big enough to tower over the manlet deluxes and hopefully thicc enough to not be overdone by the bruisers and huge guys.

Voyager is my favorite size for Megatron. I like leader figures because the child in me thinks that the bigger the toy the better but CW Megatron doesn't fit in well with my generations display.

An unusually large deluxe. That way we can have Voyagers to represent Cons bigger than Megs and still have the average deluxe smaller than him
Ultra, the former $20 sized figures, was the perfect size for the leaders. Big enough to stand over deluxes and basics, big enough for plenty of gimmicks and details while still being small enough to be perfectly playable.
Modern voyagers try to be that, but they're just a bit smaller and less developed, although that's mostly because of the way Hasbro has pushed the line.

Unrelated, since getting Deluxe Groove, I've put Rook on my Sky Reign team as an arm, which adds to his BEEF factor. I also took Prowl and replaced Streetwise as he matches Groove as a limb. I've also kept Legends Groove on and renamed him Autobot Beat.

It's a good figure, has more play value than the normal one. Only flaws really is an issue with the mold itself (the waist can be loose because of the gimmick, and hollow forearms), and that the hammer is inferior in comparison to the proper hammer that came with Leader Ultra Magnus.

I hope they got another, smaller figure somewhere down the line. It makes sense to have them be Leaders to work with Legends tapes, but they are too big in comparison to everyone else.

Keep checking, and here's a tip, there is so much crap in this sale including that big ass bomber thing they spread it out all over the stores, I saw some of those large monster truck toys in the clothing department, I'm just lucky to have Victorion and Fort Max next to the registers (I must of kept walking past, they weren't there the other day I went in)
Otherwise be nice to the staff and ask if any stores are willing to transfer any stock, just keep checking and if you're desperate rush into all available big w stores as soon as they open Thursday.

Yeah the colors on Hasbro sort of kills it. Which is funny because Hasbro's is much more accurate to the toy. I prefer the Hasbro head though, and of course the hands and feet.
Takara Nosecone completely seals the deal for me though. The altmode is so much better than the Hasbro one, even though the Hasbro one is far and away more accurate to the original robot mode. Rook is just a better mold than Brawl, though it's a shame about the head and lack of a red cockpit on Nip Nosecone.

Bingo, Brainstorm exists as a retool (pretool?) of Blurr just to get a Brainstorm that's compatible with all the other headmasters, in both that he can swap heads with them and that he isn't towering over there. He wasn't an afterthought, and I like the new deluxe, but he's clearly the least accurate to the original of the bunch what with the Blurr shield weapon and all. Probably because they didn't give a rat's ass about him and he's just here to round out the line up.

Lets think like this, generations toys just reinvented past characters with acute likeness into newer vehicle modes, like scourge and those stealth wing fighters or galvatron into that tank, they homage the robot modes well but gives updated vehicle mode choices.
Astrotrain works in this regard just like the old deluxe, from bullet train to space shuttle, now its 2 ended diesel train with train cannon to space shuttle.
So far the only astrotrains that go from "perfect" shuttle to steam train modes are 3p's and their rears and horrible.

I would love some proper triple changers, the 3p's are attractive but something always seems off on each one even the up coming blitzwing 3ps, other than that galvatron and megatron 2.0.
Although I sadly doubt those will come unless they can get reused, even megatron mp-05 got a recolor just to make use for that shitty mold, what could they do to reuse galvatron?

We've seen Laser Prime, Hot Rod, Alpha Trion, Weirdwolf, Doublecross, Getaway, and the Technobots.
We've also seen a teaser for Overlord and art of Sixshot, but those toys haven't even shown up yet in rumors so they're a long way away.
I find Gnaw to be interesting, since he and Brawn were both teased way back when the Legends were being packed with Targetmasters (specifically they were advertised as "Gnaw with Gnash and Brawn with Mudslinger.") Unfortunately it's unlikely we get their partners. It's also likely that they're going to be molds similar to the other Legends of that time, so no thigh swivels ala Shockwave.

If they're being released as Deluxes that means the Combiner Wars play pattern might be continuing with Headmasters. Razorclaw might be a Voyager, even a retooling of Sky Lynx.

Funny, I feel the same way about Brawl being the best Nosecone, even with all the remold Rook doesn't look like him at all, I went for the takara set and will be getting a Brawl to customize as Nosecone, already have custom hands and feet for the combiner.

They homage who's they're supposed to pretty well in their own right, hasbro for toy, takara for cartoon.
But lets be honest, best overall combined form goes to takara because of the amounts of retooling done showing effort over lots of "promising" paint apps.

I was about to post this. There's just no winning with Nosecone; Hasbro's looks the closest but Takara's got the more accurate head (which I think looks pretty crappy, but eh.) I guess they don't paint the Cockpit on the Takara version because it wasn't painted in the cartoon, but it looks much better on the toy.
What's weird about the Takara versions is that they go to great pains to replicate color placements on their toys, but the molds literally look nothing like the originals, so the homages tend to fall flat.
Let's be real here, though; Takara nosecone will be the better toy, unless they fix Brawl's waist.
In a just world we'd get a fixed Brawl with the same little drillgun thing that the Hasbro one has, but with the drill cut off and replaced with a peg for the Takara one. Put a couple pegholes on the sides of his turret for the Takara side guns and splash some white paint on his chest and you'd be pretty good to go.

Fucking look at the toys, dude. Nosecone's drill is supposed to be placed higher than Takara's, he's got a little red cockpit, and a big splash of yellow that hangs off his back. In bot mode his arms are treads and he's got a standard skinny body.
Takara Rook has a big Hulk body and treads on his legs, has a giant drill that's low to the ground, and has a big splash of brown on his back. Takara is objectively less accurate.
