Transforming toys are the core of my collection, but at this point I really don't have an emotional attachment to the Transformers IP.

Post pics in this thread of transforming toys that aren't related to "Transformers." Bonus points for good articulation and perfect transformation.

Digimon had a few good transforming toys. Some characters even looked great in both modes without worrying about kibble or dual-purpose parts. Birdramon, Kabuterimon, Gaogamon, even Greymon was okay despite being fat.

New Machine Robo line, the first wave 1 figures are about 4.5" but >>5660732 definitely looks bigger. Blue Jet here looks like a major improvement on the Fewture version from 2012, which partsformed literally everywhere.

To be fair, I assume the Fewture's goal was a dynamic robot mode. I'm kinda surprised they even threw in a "transformation" rather than just having the jet as a separate piece entirely (since it pretty much was).

I do find it funny how this manages to have a way better face sculpt though.

I love beastformers, and its disappointing to me how few there are overall. I try and get what few there are. The sentinel Dino Getters are odd figures, but I like them for what they are. Dino getter 2's t.rex mode is very cobbled together visually, but in hand it makes more sense. It feels really dynamic and cool.
>>
>>5661969

I bought that at a discount on Amazon and was hugely disappointed. Aside from being incredibly finnicky by design it's fragile as all fuck, with paper-thin parts and high-friction plastic twisting pegs with the diameter of a toothpick. One of said pegs snapped immediately so I just returned it for a refund.
>>
>>5661705
I still have the original toy of this guy.
Not THE Original, but still the original mold. A brazilian licensed version that's black/red instead of red/black, looks cooler than the original, actually.

Just today I realized I had the original Eagle Robo and Rod Drill. I've had them since I was a kid and I never knew what exactly they were. Just happened to look at Eagle today and saw the similarities to the new version instantly, then I found Rod Drill hanging out in the same drawer.

It was such a great "oh shit" moment. Pretty sure I have Steam Robo too, but not sure if it's the MR or Gobots release.
>>
>>5662912
Shit dude, I can't believe that. I thought everyone my age (31) had at least a couple of Gobots or had seen the show a few times.

I used to have a ton of these. I had like six different Leader 1's/Eagle Robo, a couple of them in different colors.
>>

Supposedly the first wave of Machine Robo is on its way to retailers as of today (not sure if that means all 4 or just 2).

Someone also posted a somewhat informative interview with a distributor who's been involved in the development.
>license is restricted to the "Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos" anime, they can't make figures of toys/Gobot characters that didn't appear there
>size/scale is self-contained, not referencing any existing toylines

i dont know... its proportions are quite off. with his HUEG legs and low shoulders.

The ES Gokin Baikanfu already improves on the design a bit, so a non-SD Baikanfu could be nice

>even third party TF Legends are only 20-30 bucks

Well Iron Factory's not-Windblade is $20-30 (pic related), but it's like 3.5" tall and only accessory it has is a tiny one-piece sword.

These Machine Robo figures are a full inch taller than that (according to retailers, we'll find out for sure when people get them in hand), contain diecast, and come with somewhat complex modular bases. Assuming QC is up to par I don't feel like I overpaid at all.

As far as wrist articulation, I'm not gonna be an apologist about it but it's no dealbreaker at this size given the waist swivels, ankle rockers, etc.
>>
>>5677711
Leader/Eagle is on his way to me. Depending on how I like him I could definitely see getting the whole line. Theyd be a great way to bolster my Legends troops.

Hot. Damn. Eagle is awesome. Only two minor complaints: I'm a little iffy on the diecast, but it isn't excessive, and the transformation is a bit fiddly, but I don't think I'm gonna break anything.

Seriously though, this is like the jetformer perfected. He just folds up so tidy and concisely. And weapon storage! I love it. And given that he's a fighter jet, he's probably in scale with my Legends collection. I think Leader-1 will be the autobot's new defacto leader.

So do you feel the quality easily justifies the $45? I loved Go-Bots as a kid, had way more of them than Transformers, so this really hits the nostalgia buttons (still have my Cy-Kill somewhere in my garage).

Couple things I'm kind of confused on; are these actual licensed toys, or are they third-party? I seem to remember them being shown at a Japanese toy show, but then why do none of the Japanese e-tailers seem to have him in stock?

Licenced by Bandai but the designers are known for their work for third parties. The guy that did shit like Tailgate for Maketoys among other things definitely designed Eagle. Jezai for his garage kits and FP's Function X line is listed for Battle Robo IIRC.

No fucking clue why Asian sellers don't have them but they've just shown up in the West.
>>
>>5685561
>So do you feel the quality easily justifies the $45?
Actually, yeah. With a lot of 3rd party stuff, a part of me is always thinking "eh, this is a bit overpriced." But these I actually think match their price pretty well. Eagle (the only one I have) has a very intricate transformation, excellent articulation, and feels high quality. They each also come with modular stand that can be rearranged and put together in several ways. I also appreciate that the smaller size of some of them are reflected in their price.

Also, I believe these are officially licensed because they can only do ones from a specific machine robo anime.

i dont know, doesn't that seem shady?

The company that licensed the Dorvack toys a while ago did both Dorvack and TF versions. There's literally nothing stopping the same thing from happening with the new Machine Robo toys besides corporate butthurt.
>>
>>5686861
>The company that licensed the Dorvack toys a while ago did both Dorvack and TF versions
Funny you should mention them, because that's the same company making these new Machine Robo toys (Company's called Action Toys)

the thing is i feel this situation is different from the Dorvack one. With Dorvack, they got Ashi Productions permission for the design, and Hastak's permission for the Roadbuster repaints.

With Machine Robo, Bandai owns the designs and Hastak owns the Gobots characters. This is difficult as Bandai are Hastak's rivals.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just a bit improbable since its just so unprecedented
>>
>>5686878
After doing some reading, I think Bandai owns the rights to Dorvack as well, isn't this the same scenario? I'm not quite sure.
>>
>>5686878
except in this case, if they wanted to do cartoon faces, it's probably not Hasbro they need to go through, but Hanna-Barbera(or whoever owns them now). It's similar to that muddy situation with DiC studios owning their animation models that prevents, say, Konami from sticking Captain N Simon into one of their games.

Hasbro owns trademarks and certain other aspects but they don't own the franchise wholesale. It's not like they even aimed to get the franchise, they just got what they got when they bought Tonka.

You've never seen a masterpiece seeker or any of the macross toys?

While the masterpiece seekers are nicer over all, i still feel Eagle Robo has the cleaner jet mode.

Those high end Macross toys are just pure sex though. Kind of an unfair comparison.
>>
>>5698893
The Macross stuff is very nice for sure, but I feel like the legs are a bit too obvious on a few of them. I suppose that's accurate to the source material, but I'm thinking in terms of a more realistic jet that they don't exactly do it.

The seekers are also great, but their undersides don't clean up quite as nicely IMO.

Kobayashi designed MP-3, Kawamori was brought in late in development to clean up the alt mode, and did a damn fine job of it too (at the expense of bot mode)

The original MP-3 design was quite similar to what MP-11 ended up being.

>>
>>5704911
Not sure WTF is up lately with TFSource in general. I used to use them because they usually shipped out same day, and if I ordered on a Wednesday, I usually got it by Friday, Saturday at the latest using regular mail.
Now? I ordered something "expedited", took them over three days to ship, and "expedited" FedEx took a week.
Tried a new order and sure as shit, expected delivery is somehow a week from now.
Rarely same-day shipping, and FedEx no longer the fast service they built their business model on, a perfect shitstorm
>>
>>5706324
Same here. Last year I ordered an item, mailed same day by Priority Mail. Last month placed an order, took several days to ship.

BBTS is almost as bad, depending on the shipping method. If I choose Fedex Ground, they ship within 1 day. If I choose Smartpost(a service that needs to die, BTW) they take 3-4 days to actually send, then it takes a week to travel to me. It's like they get sluggish on purpose if you go with the cheap option, bad enough the service itself is slow.

>FedEx no longer the fast service they built their business model on

it depends on what Fedex service you are paying, using, is the expedited Fedex "standard overnight"? most likey not.

Im guessing the fastest they will use , or the one that you would paid for is fedex 2day, after that is Fedex express saver ( 3 days)

Then there's Fedex Ground and Fedex residential which will take 5-7 days since it will not be on a plane.

After that there's Fedex smartpost, which can take from 3-8 days. ( fedex will get it to your main post office sorting facility, then it'll be handle by the post office to sort , route and deliver.
>>
I was working for FedEx Ground at one of their hubs up until a couple weeks ago.

They are pretty seriously understaffed right now and with the economy getting better, people are buying more and more shit.

On top of that training in new hires takes time and nobody quite reaches the standards set by the company.

Diabattles has no diecast, and it doesn't matter because he has EVERYTHING ELSE. I just got mine, and holy shit, he is the real fucking deal. The sculpting on the Dianauts would be great on a three inch figure, but on something a goddamn inch tall? Mind blowing.

Well the hips are fine for me, but I have noticed a few ball joints that seem a little loose. That being said, nothing a coat of Future floor polish can't cure. I'd highly recommend picking up a bottle of this stuff to remedy any loose joints you might have on any figure you own.

I'm going to assume that FedEx ground just stops driving on weekends, because my package hit Piscataway, NJ on Friday, and there it remained all weekend
>>
>>5713951
The only issue with mine is that one of the shoulder pegs wasn't in all the way, so I had to push in in completely with some pliers. The transformation was a bit stiff the first time, but after breaking it in it's not really a problem.
>>
>>5716750
I don't think the driving stops, but the sorts do. Other hubs may have different schedules but mine went from around 2pm to 7 or 8am the next day sorting from Monday afternoon to Saturday morning with extra sorts on Sunday during the holidays.

Also, ific the tracking number only tracks the package as it hits a hub or station. It won't show where it is when en route.

That being said, one of the perks of working at a hub was I didn't have to wait for the next day to get my packages, I could just have them held there.
>>
>>5716750
You package can stay inside a container or trailer over the weekends. It will wait for its turn to get sorted by the handlers. As long as they deliver to you on the due date it will still be ontime even if it sits for days .
If you don't want to wait all day wondering when the Fedex ground guy will come , you can go line and choose to hold it at a Fedex office , it's free and if you do it before 6am they should have it there before 12pm
>>
So apparently the reason for Bike Robo's delay is because the wheels weren't rolling well enough, so they changed the engineering to make them work a bit better. Also they added rubber tires.
