Beefy Blitzy.
>>
>>

I have some symbols from them, they seem quite good, quality-wise.

Damn this looks real nice. I don't collect enough in that scale to shell out for it but I'm impressed

BIGGEST EVER

To be fair he DOES look pretty fucking big. He's gotta be at least 7-9 inches, and he looks wide as fuck.
>>
>>5632054
Oh absolutely, but when I see Devestator and Megatron my first instinct is OH FUCK THIS GUY IS THE SIZE OF A CHILD
But it's not

But he does look fuckin' beefy.

Oh yeah, I get what you mean.

I'm guessing he's probably going to be as big as their Astrotrain.

He looks really good, as a robot. We'll have to see what his alts look like.

I'm just sitting here waiting for the rest of ToyWorld's Constructor...

Just got the Combaticon limbs for Bruticus, and I have the PE hands and feet for him.

I managed to put the original hand/feet guns onto Brawl and Swindle as a type of storage, but where and how can I add in Blast Off's and Vortex's (as well as their guns)?

I have a few sets from Reprolabels and they're definitely more tactile than normal stickers. I have had a few not quite stay put in the past, but thankfully they released an adhesive applicator to rectify that.
>>
>>5631774
Everything I've ever got from them has been great. The only exceptions were the stuff for FoC Grimlock and Bruticus which ended up peeling after a short amount of time.

However, they have great customer service, just send them a nice letter and they'll fix almost anything. They even did a cool thing last Christmas where they send out gift certificates to anyone who spent a lot in their store. I got $15 free.
>>
>>5631774
They're shit. They're printed on crappy paper that looks like trash on even retail releases, never mind MPs. Ocean designs makes much better decals that aren't just cheap stickers, and they are hard to peel off even if you try.

Reprolabels has a lot more variety, but the way I see it, I'd rather put nothing on my figures than Reprolabels. Besides, most of their sets are pointless shit that ends up making the toy look worse anyway.

>getting this buttmad over optional stickers
Cool elitist opinion, bro.
>>
>>5632551
Yep, this. Bought their Devvy set to make CW Devestator not look so damn bland and the hubcap stickers do a fucking lot to help. Got a 20$ off discount from them out of nowhere as well and got a bunch of insignias for all my 3rd party stuff. Considering they make 3D badges now in sticker format as well, they're pretty based.
>>
The only downside I have for Reprolabels is that a lot of their sets are overloaded with things that really should be optional. I don't mind spending a bit more to get the extras when I want them, but I don't like it when I feel half of the budget is going to bad jokes and puns. Like all of the "album art" for MP Soundwave's cassettes. Sometimes they put these extra things on stickers that I'd otherwise want to use (for their base color), but I don't want the writing. I know Generations Springer and Sandstorm had some of that.
>>
Speaking of after-market detailing, did any of y'all see that thread about the guy making Photo Etching kits in the 3P at TFW?

Could be interesting depending on how it turns out.
>>
>>5632934
>getting this buttmad because someone gave an honest review

hi there, Amy's Baking Company....

>>5633064

My issue with them is they stopped doing repros for toys that originally had them and switched to doing overpriced sets for newer toys that don't really need them. They won't even touch G2 toys anymore. Oh I need some repros for Machine Wars? Screw me, then.

For the G1 sets I do need, TF Kingdom's prices are cheaper and they have free shipping. They're not perfect decals, they tend to only copy the factory sheet and leave off factory-applied decals, but 'd rather buy from them. I can't even get RL to answer CS emails.
>>
What are the best priced 3rd party figures at this point? like, topspin/twintwist were good prices at first, now the legends are fair, but a bit small, warbot defender plummeted in price after Gen 30th Springer came out... so what now is actually reasonably priced?
>>
>>5633233
I imagine the market for the old stuff they haven't done yet is pretty niche. I would love to have more G2, but I could understand the economics of it being poor. So I don't think they are making new stuff *instead* of old stuff.
>>
>>5633234

I mean most of the "best priced" 3rd party figures are just awful figures that are clearanced everywhere for being garbage.

Barring that, one of the best deals is probably Cloud 9 Quakeblast, which is an MP-ish Shockwave that's a good figure and is like $80 for a figure around the height of MP-10 and beefy. Good quality too, I think they just saved on the engineering budget by copying the transformation wholesale from the Fanstoys version. But the end result is better than Fanstoys IMO.
>>
>>5633233
>>5633248
Also, they'd need access to both the original toys and the stickers to replicate them. They may not have those.
>>
>>5633234
The Quantron limbs got a price cut recently. They're still third party prices but I think it's a good discount. I just picked up Blindfire and he's cool as fuck.
>>
>>5634272
If nothing else, being able to get them individually is a price cut if you only wanted one or two of them. Before you had to buy the $300-400+ set and be stuck with members you might not have wanted, now you can get the ones you want for much less.

I just finished a photo shoot with him, he's a lot of fun. Originally I thought I wouldn't enjoy him that much but he's definitely grown on me. He probably won't be in dino mode very often, the wing pieces tab in so tightly that I ended up damaging some of the gold parts on his chest trying to pry it open.
>>

I have Vulcan and Severo both, I'll be doing some comparison photos and fight shots.

Vulcan is $120 and comes with enough accessories to pass pretty well, one thing for each hand. Severo DX is $140 and this thing is packed with extras. Two melee weaposn (one turns into 2 minibots), three guns, a crown and a throne. So you are getting your monies worth in my opinion.

As far as playability goes, I feel Vulcan wins out though. This is largely due to the fact that his dino-mode is a lot more fun than Severo's. Vulcan had a pretty smooth transformation for me, but Severo was a definite pain.

Severo is the most faithful of the two when it comes to representing a G1 Grimlock. There were moments when I looked at him and saw Grimlock, it was really nice. To be fair though, Vulcan never tried to be G1.

If I had to choose one, it would be Vulcan. I had the first three LER Dinobots and I just had to try too hard to like them. I switched to the Planet X offering and never questioned it. It really just comes down to preference though.
>>
>>5635495
>>5635442
Ohhhh, that looks so nice. Pictures of him on the throne looks awesome too, it's making me want to get one more and more over the oversized G1 Grimlock.
>>
>>5635495
how tall are they?
>>
>>5635495
>Severo is the most faithful of the two when it comes to representing a G1 Grimlock. There were moments when I looked at him and saw Grimlock, it was really nice.

Same here. One of the reasons I've been getting the FP Dinobots is because I see them as updated CHUG versions of the old Marvel (Us/UK) Dinobots. It helps that they share a lot of the elements of the Marvel Dinobots (Grimlock's red eyes and crown, Swoop's red torso).

Can't wait to get my Severo. Once I get Titans Return Blaster, I think I'll have them fight for nostalgia's sake.
>>
>>5635495

I won't deny the Planet X stuff looks good, but I just can't deal with the FoC aesthetic as my main Dinobots, and the other companies ones are TOO G1, if that makes any sense, as I own the G1 figures already.

So the LER stuff really hooked me in with the looks, but I need to actually buy the things first and NotGrimlock'd be my first buy most likely.

Is Hexatron at this point a more famous and integral part of 3rd party culture and development than Hercules and City Commander at this point? So many damn remolds and counterfeits.

I hope they put him up for sale by himself. Mightron like all DX9 legends has such weird proportions.

Maybe. He is 100% amazing and a worthy addition to any collection. He's pretty much the gold standard others should be shooting for.
>>
>>5636393

Keep in mind these are colored prototypes without paint. They could go and break it up with something similar to the other bots. The legs and crotch will get something for sure.

Looks like they did the combiner legs fairly well. it appears they space really nicely thanks to the crotch armor wedging in between to space them out.

Also screaming head.
>>
Begun, the Blitzwing war has.

Too bad no one trusts KFC or Xtransbots much.
>>
>>5636781

Curious as to how this thing will hold up. Looking at some reviews, the Scrapper leg looked like it'll possibly have some issues.
>>
>>5636700

Yeah, they're honestly too big. I do want a UW Devy, but damned if I know where I'll put it AND atop that, I honestly wish it was sized with the other UW/CW combiners.

At that point why not just get the real thing? I can't understand people who will spend $100 on a KO but not toss in the extra $20-40 for a real thing. You're already blowing $100+ bucks, you really going to cheap the fuck out at that point?

I could understand if the KO was like, $50 tops...
>>
>>5637618
>At that point why not just get the real thing?

Because the clone droid has improvements over the original.
>>
>>5637618
The KO is larger, same quality plastic, and has a couple small mold changes. Mainly on the face and the wings on the chest in robot mode.
>>
>>5637618

>>
>>5636781
greeble my shit up senpai
>>
>>5637618
I prefer to view it as "if I'm spending $100+ bucks, I may as well get the one that has more things that I like about it". It's not just about price, it's about which has more accessories, or nicer colors, or better-looking head sculpt.

For as much as I would be spending, why wouldn't I go for whichever one will make me happier to see sitting on my shelf?
>>
>>5637634

Odd that their sister company is taking the cleaner comic approach. I do like the extra vehicle detailing on GT's Devs. It doesn't come off as bad as Warbotron's greeble. There aren't just lines everywhere. Shit like Long Haul's grill has the actual vehicle's entry ladders and gives you a sense of scale.
>>
>>5637629
It's the same size
>>
Out of curiosity, is there something like a slightly oversized KO Infinitor?
Also how is the normal one/Grant?
>>
>>5637873
I've got Grant, and he's okay. He mostly wins by being a Grand Max that I can actually afford.

He makes a lot of nice improvements on the base Fort Max toy while still staying really close to the G1. As such, he's not rather complex. Articulation is decent though. Grant's decals are alright, but I think I would have prefered paint apps (particularly the missing green on his head). That's not really an issue for the FM colors though.

Overall, if you want a Fort/Grand Max at roughly the voyager size (thus not really working with anyone in city mode), he's not bad. You might want to consider the Kabaya kit too, as it's not much smaller than the regular-size Infinitor/Grant, and costs less than a third of the price. YMMV on making a model kit though.

Mega Steel had one coming but they seem to have disappeared after releasing Megatron and Blaster. It's a shame because they had so much going for them design-wise but their engineering fell a bit short and the figures weren't exactly fun to transform and were a bit floppy. It sucks because they would have been the only CHUG Soundwave on the market that actually LOOKED good. He looked to be a retool of their Blaster which honestly wasn't bad. >>5638636
I haven't gotten any DX9 because I don't really enjy their aesthetic or scale. Iron Factory scales everything against their other releases, DX9 seems to make everything the same height as each other, even if that's not the case.

Also, I don't like the overly G1 aesthetic of DX9. That has a lot to do with it. I kind of want their most recent group with Tyrant but they just seem off to me.

I'm wondering why TW is so secretive about Hook and Longhaul. We've seen plenty of combine pics but none of them individually.
>>
>>5640125
for the life of me, I will never understand TFC.

They started off small with Rollar and some other promising offerings.

They were at the beginning of the 3rd party combiner wars.

Hercules was a solid A for effort, B/B- for execution. I have had Hercules and Green Giant, personally prefer Hercules.

They listen to the fans, make the Rage addon kit.

They then apply NONE of the lessons learned on that for Uranos - which was an honestly terrible combined mode.
TFC Ares was a goddamned mess.
TFC Defensor was just OK, personally I still think Herc was their best execution so far.

Now we've got Hades looking fucking AMAZING, and superior engineering and attention to detail in 3 modes for all bots.

AND we've got TFC Piranacon teasing as just as good or even better based on what we've been seeing.

Seriously TFC, seriously.

attempt to wrap your head around this for a single solitary second, alright?
MPs are big and cartoon accurate, so is UW Devastator. TW Devastator is big but not cartoon accurate.
>>
>>5640278
CW/UW is not to scale with MP. The individual bots are too small and so is the combined mode. TW Dev isn't supposed to be cartoon accurate. He's a mixture of studio ox design and the original G1 toys. The only thing the CW/UW figs have going for them are the head sculpts. Other than that the TW team destroys them.
>>
>>5640299
>CW/UW is not to scale with MP. The individual bots are too small and so is the combined mode

i guess its up to personal preference, i find the scale to be nice for Devastator

i'm sure the TW ones are more substantial but the UW constructicons are still good toys
>>
>>5640151
I don't get it either, anon. Anyone who so stubbornly ignores the signs of the time like TFC did with Superion through Defensor usually never turns it around so far like they have with Liokaiser.

I've held a lot of TFC products, and own Hercules and 2/6 of Liokaiser. It's strange how everything after Herc feels stagnant and even in decline, but then Liokaiser feels like TFC had been learning all along and this was them at top level.

UW Devy is amazing. CW is too, given you can find it for like $100 more often than not.

A lot of the 3P Devy's are straight up overdesigned or don't look like Devy. Either the colors are off or they add too much detail to a 'bot thats mostly flat clean surfaces.

Yes, there is such a thing as too much detail. And I'm saying this as a guy who loves MMC's stuff, which a lot of people say are very greebly (or whatever the fucking term is for "lots of details").

This isn't at you in general, but everyone including myself. Why do we spend so much money on these 3rd parties when every now and then a figure is complete and utter shit and no one knows until they buy it for a crazy price?

This whole thing is a gamble. We are gambling our money on tiny pieces of plastic where we lose money regardless of if the toy is shit or not. Yet we can't stop. I can't stop. It's plastic crack.

I want off this ride. I want off I say!

>>5643962
>This isn't at you in general, but everyone including myself. Why do we spend so much money on these 3rd parties when every now and then a figure is complete and utter shit and no one knows until they buy it for a crazy price

Because I watch several reviews for and ask on several forums as to the quality, imperfections, and possible issues about anything before I buy it.

...And despite all that my very first 3P figure, new in the box, was missing weapon parts. The company replaced them right away and the figure is otherwise perfect, but shit happens I guess.
>>
>>5643971

I know the Ares and (whatever the other 3P Predaking is, I forget) both suffer from joint issues and breakage issues. One of them has possibly the scariest fucking wing attachment for Divebomb ever. MMC's is the only one thats generally solid all the way through.

Other random shit I know is Quantron is difficult to get set up and has some bitchy transformations that also are apparently easy to break to boot.
>>
>>5643975
I've seen pictures of Uranos and I've never liked them. The vehicle modes are pretty good, but the combined mode... cripes. Ugly headsculpt, weird broken-up chestplate, the legs are just a mess (yes, yes, I know they're G1-accurate but that doesn't mean they look good), and the whole thing just looks awkward as all get out.

It seems to suffer from what I'm going to term Warbotron Syndrome: greebles add up so much that the final robot just turns into a mess.
>>
Five minutes in photoshop
>>
>>5643962

At least they're easy to get most of your money back for unless they're universally considered complete garbage. And if that's the case I wouldn't have bought it cause reviews would have been negative. But yeah I do occasionally end up with something that's kind of crap that reviewers just all sort of shilled for cause they got it for free and it's only really crap when you consider the price. But like I said I just sell it for about what I paid so it's mostly just disappointing and an inconvenience more than a real loss.

No, it depends on what you want and your budget. Personally, I like how GB looks and the fact that it's parts are integrated. TW looks very G1 in individual modes, but the combined mode is just a off enough to make me disinterested. I will wait until all the GB cons are released to see how stable the combined mode is.

I currently own a Hercules I bought for $170. At that price it's pretty fantastic, but it's hot gardabge for $500+

Don't worry Anon, I'm sure it'll come out soon. You're pretty brave in investing in a combiner before everyone has torn apart every aspect of it to make sure it'll work well though.
