New to figure collecting, basic question. I'm planning on getting the Arthas NECA figure, I've heard only good things about it. However, the cloth cape and loincloth are an extremely vivid purple which in my opinion don't go well with the rest of the figure. All the promotional art even has it photoshopped darker, so it seems this was a mistake.

How feasible would it be to dye this cloth to be darker? Anywhere from darker purple to black is fine with me, I'm not picky about the shade. How would I go about this?
>>
you could always trace the cloth onto a piece of paper and use that as a template to cut out a new one on a darker fabric
>>
>>5599707

I'm not sure how the cloth is attached, to be honest. Which is going to be an issue whether I dye or replace it.
>>
>>5599703
>so it seems this was a mistake.

No, it wasn't a mistake, and you thinking it was because you think it was photoshopped kind of silly on your part.

This is the image used on most stores. Very different purple. I understand they were going for a Warcraft 3 undead look, but there's certainly a discrepancy between how they present it and how it actually looks. Is there another explanation?

Anyway, not really important.
>>
Holy shit I didn't know there was an Arthas fig
>>
>>5599703
For a specific shade of purple, RIT dye (liquid, not powder) or fabric markers. Either can be picked up at local craft stores like Hobby Lobby for dirt cheap. RIT dye would require you to remove the cloth ahead of time, which might not be incredibly difficult with a hair dryer as they're just probably held together by interlocked parts or simple adhesives. Fabric markers are made to work right away without disassembly, but I would recommend masking the plastic areas ahead of time with masking tape. Helps to avoid stray marks.

Keep in mind that both methods have the possibility of transferring rub marks over time on any plastic they come across. You can't really escape that one, but you can do preventative steps like putting a strip of wax paper between the plastic and the fabric if you plan on putting it in storage for extended periods of time.
>>
I can't get around seeing that human face. Is there an alternate head that's the traditional black with glowing eyes?

Pretty nice knight figure, at any rate.

>wanting shitty muted colours

One of the reasons why I hated the Scourge in Wrath was because all of the colour had been drained from them. Look at Naxxramas, and then look at Icecrown Citadel. Graphics aside, Naxxramas was far more visually interesting.
>>
>>5600471
I'd say just paint it yourself. Black around the eyes and everywhere under the helmet, and then do the same paint for the eyes that the eyesockets in the skull armor has going on (blue with white in the middle)

The biggest issue with this figure is the lack of articulation (less than 45 degree elbow bends what?) and Frostmourne's design and color scheme. Nothing like how it should be.
>>
>>5600597
I highly doubt it
>>
>>5600977
Doubt what?
>>
Probably doubting that that anon (you?) are the creator of the image.
Because it's so hard to believe someone on /toy/ can take good pictures.

Yeah, you'd have to go full black or leave it as is. Just a darker skin shade would look odd, I think.

It doesn't make it look much better, in my opinion. It's the way the nose is sculpted or the helm fits over the head that is awkward. The nose just looks off and Michael Jackson-ish.

Has there been any news on a series 3 of Heroes of the Storm figs? I don't know where to follow this stuff. I figure Thrall or Raynor are pretty safe bets and I'd love to have either. If there was a Cho'Gall deluxe fig I'd jump on that, two-headed figs are such a rarity.

Raynor, Thrall and Sylvanas are obvious choices, and maybe Murky could be too, but Brightwing being on there really makes me think that this isn't representative of what they intend to make. Maybe I'll be wrong, I guess Stiches was a bit out of left field.

Diablo would be odd too given they already made a D3 design Diablo recently. In any case I'd be pretty happy picking up Thrall and Raynor from this lineup.
>>
>>5603190
Murky before LiLi.

I just hope this line does well enough to make most of the cast.
>>
>>5599703
Just use some diluted black acrylic paint. Mix a tiny bit with water. Soak the rags (or any other part of the figure) with the "ink" you made to darken the fabric, or to fill the detail cracks with a shadowy dirty look.
>>
>>5603232
Im asuming murky and brightwing as a two-pack as theyre both small.

Also assuming diablo will be the deluxe figure. Large and massive.

Be careful with the sword. It comes together, but splits where the grip meets the hilt. Really easy just to break/tear it apart there with minimal force. First thing I ever ham-handed and I was shocked by how easy it was.

Funny enough, I connected the sword the wrong way because of Neca's stupid offset peg and I can do the same thing now.

>>
>>5603561
Hi Neca.
>>
>>5603557

Mind you, his hands don't let the pommel pass through so there's a chance it won't fit in his hands at a ll. The neca frostmourne is in a hilt and blade assembly like Figma Link.
>>
>>5603815
not an issue. It's plastic, so just saw it, drill it, and peg it, and it will be just like the neca version.

That's typical NECA, sadly. The worst part is, they've proven themselves they can do GOOD articulation.

But then there are chucklefucks who defend lack of articulation NECA has.

This looks so awesome, I wish I could find some exact measurement for it, it looks like it might be a little big to scale with Arthas.
>>
>>5604488
Yeah I remember when I posted that.

Didn't think some one would save a pic explaining how I organize my folders though.
>>
>>5604482
To be fair, check out the proportions of Arthas vs Hayabusa. There just isn't that much room for articulation if they wanted to preserve the sculpt. I actually think Arthas has quite good range for his size, while unfortunately Tyrael suffered a bit more in this regard.
>>
>>5604488
Ive done a bit of research. The sword plus stand is listed as being roughly 8 inches tall.

Looking at the pic of the prototype figure with the sword next to it, sword looks to be 4ish inches. So it might be a tiny bit oversized, but i think itll be ok. Wow characters typicaly have oversized weapons.
>>
>>5603285
This is my fear.
>>
>>5603339

It'd be odd if he were deluxe given that the D3 Diablo was like 9 inches and still a regular fig.

Stiches was only 6.5 inches though and Diablo is pretty wide, so you're probably right.
>>
>>5605176
He's definitely the deluxe. They showed off the 3D model they're working with at NYTF and the thing looks like it'll be massive. D3 Diablo has height, but this thing looks to have good height and absurd width. Keep in mind they're going for scale.

And yes, Murky/Brightwing 2 pack. I think it's a cool idea. They keep saying that the line is successful, so hopefully that keeps up. Only one wave of 5 a year is so few though. 2 waves of 5, released every quarter would be nice. But they're going my Blizzard's rules, so I guess it's up to them ultimately.
>>
>>5605222
Im just hoping murky has redonkulous articulation.

>>

The articulation is actually fine. Its range of motion is simply limited thanks to the sculpt. Just look at Illidan who is just wearing pants. His range of motion great because he doesn't have stuff blocking his joints.

just sayin

Magnetize instead. Way better, much easier.

Where do you guys follow this stuff? As someone new to figure collecting I have no idea where to find this info, google isn't helping much.
>>
>>5605623
yeah, i'm considering that too. i'll decide once i pick one up, what's the best way to do it. hilt size, magnet size, depth, etc are all gonna be factors in what i do.
>>
>>5605431
>not Diabla
Nah.
>>
>>5606198
If you mean III, there's already a figure.
>>
>>5605705
Just any toy collecting site should post this stuff, even here. Places like toyark, fwoosh, are pretty good and will post news from conventions and upcoming releases as well as pictures. And if you want to know about neca stuff specifically their Twitter is quite good and will often be the first place for previews of new items (probably not for hots though, as it's blizzard controlled).
>>
>>5605431
Holy fucking shit.

I'll probably only get this and the murky/brightwing bundle
>>
>>5606203
>being satisfied with only one
Nah.
>>

While I'm not crazy about the D3 Diablo design the figure turned out great. It'll be hard for the new one to top it.

I ordered this from Amazon for 7 bucks. It's supposed to be 5 inches long, which should scale decently with the figure. I'm probably going to grind the hilt, and pommel off to allow it to fit into Arthas' hand. It'll be here Wednesday, if the thread's still alive I'll post pics.
>>
>>5612873
Also.. any custom guys here? I'm going to do some silver drybrushing to it, and I've been thinking about how to make the runes pop. I was thinking of doing a wash with some neon blue acrylic.. Anyone have any better ideas?
>>
>>5612877
Sounds about right. And easy to fix and start over if you screw up.
