>CCBS reboot of Slizers
As much as I'd love to, I just can't see it happening.

There's several Slizers that used colors that Lego doesn't use anymore, I doubt they still have Kanoka-mold and they don't want to make new one and the story was so basic it was almost dumb.

All Ausfags.

Bionicle is cancelled in Australia. The Uniters are the last wave in this country. We will not be getting the summer sets.

This is straight from a Lego employee at Melbourne toy fair as he showed me around their booth. Reason given was that sales were mediocre and they feel Nexo Knights does a better job of going after the demographic.

Looks like I'll be importing the summer sets, but sure makes me concerned if there'll be a 3rd year at all.
>>
>>5569839
>Bionicle is cancelled in Australia

I don't want to bother you, but do you have any knowledge on why Uxar and Ketar are not sold anywhere on Scandinavia?
>>
POST YOU ARE MOCS
>>
>>5569855

They're available to buy in the Official Shop, the LEGO store, and in brick n' mortar shops in Denmark. 100,- each. I can't imagine why SE and NO would be any different.
>>
>>5569848

His name was Warren I think.

They had the prototypes of the beasts and uniters there. Ketar had a yellow head and crystal blades and the masks looked like they were 3D printed and the designs were slightly different from final. Gali's mask for example had extra bits to the sides of her chin. When I asked why they were the prototypes as the sets just released here, he said they probably weren't too concerned as they are exiting the market after this wave.
>>
>>5569839
feels good knowing bionicle is forced and unwanted
>>
>>5569839
So how much will BZP complain when it's cancelled again, even if everyone there thought it was shit when compared to muh genwun?
>>
>>5569147
I've always thought that the Miramax style would have worked well in 2006.
>>
>>5569839
Well. Can't say I'm suprised. Nexo Knights probably would get the target demo more since it got a TV show right off the bat, whereas Bionicle got a shittily handled flash animation and even now doesn't have a proper show, just a handout couple of online episodes from Netflix. LEGO are a bunch of pussy shitcunts. If they had a shred of faith in the reboot maybe it would have done better than mediocre.

I'll import the sets, I don't give a shit, but they'd better deliver on the 3 years promised. Either way, I think we can finally say Hero Factory killed Bionicle. Not buying a single constraction set once Bionicle's done. They can peddle their clone Star Wars sets, but not to me.

How did Lego fuck up G2 this badly?
It's like they took most of what made G1 so unique and interesting and replaced it with shallow fantasy bullshit. I feel like they were playing it too safe wich resulted in a mostly underwhelming line.

They probably keep all molds in a warehouse or something. That one time a Lego employee said that they destroy their molds when they don't need them anymore was a joke iirc.

Given it a TV show. Fired the person who said "Hey kids use phones right? We could probably get away with a 20 minute flash animation because kids use phones".

Given it more new parts and upped 2 sets in the summer (probably Skull Basher and Skull Scorpio) to the $20 pricepoint.

Explain to everyone in the board room what a return on investment was, and that the end of Hero Factory and the return of a recognisable brand was a good opportunity to grow the market for the CCBS system they spent so much on designing.

>>5570009
It's because they half assed the first year. The quality of sets this year and a 4 episode TV series should have been the minimum standard for year 1, not year 2.

>cartoon goes to TV, on the first year if possible. What was even the point of releasing it only on Netflix?
>put some more memorable music in it, maybe even resurrect tunes from the old movies or the Flash animations
>let the show be the main story event, but keep the rest of the media consistent and easy to access to both kids and fans. G1's problem wasn't just its continuity-heaviness, but that the story was spread out over too much media. Keeping up with it was a chore, especially to non-muricans who didn't get comics or books
>no stupid golden mask contest, or at best only one mask to give away

>keep the cinematic qualities and atmospheric tone of the old ads
>more threatening bad guys who put up a good fight

Billund anon, if you hear anything otherwise or can save Bionicle in my country it'd be fantastic.

If they are going to crash the ship this early better just make 2017 winter wave with villains and be done with it. I have hope Netflix can turn the course to give us more than just the winter wave but we'll see..

While I see it selling rather well in Europe I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the set count at least.

Sure it is partly because of poor exposure but I would hold the clearance filling skeletons as the main reason for this.

So will beasts sell better than skeletons?
That should be our main concern.

Despite people bashing on Ekimu looking generic it is likely to take sells by a storm.

But beasts in general, UTD?
>>
>>5571784
While kids don't often collect as many baddies they often want at least one, big bad guy.

As much as I'm going to regret saying this, LEGO needs to take a leaf out of Hasbro's Transformers book with their baddies. The way they ensure sales of bad guys is making them all the cool stuff (the gun, the T-Rex, etc.). Old Bionicle had this down by having the coolest titans be baddies (Makuta, Ultimate Dume, Brutaka, Vezon+Fenrakk, etc.)
>>

I'm not saying that at all. I've got plenty of Nexo Knights sets myself, I just think that if the baddies had as much flair to them as the good guys (like the last couple of Ninjago enemies) they'd sell better. I understand it's a delicate balance - Ultra Agents had excellent bad guys but the goodies were generic, and it didn't seem to sell so well.

>>5571810
Of course it'll never be in the Top 5, but that doesn't mean LEGO shouldn't be a little more savvy with its business practices. More often-than-not you get out what you put in, and I doubt they'll get much out of sets like Quake Beast.

yea i honestly think the shitty villains are fucking up the potential longevity of the brand

Think of what happens with a child (or new customers). They just see the cool new toa and they're like "whoa cool maybe I'll pick up one", they buy it and think "maybe i really like bionicles?", time passes and they start thinking about potential new bionicles. Then they see the one ones and they look like complete shit abominations. This makes people second guess whether they like bionicles or want to like it with the ugly designs and lack of content.

i work at a toys r us and the toa and protectors (and the creatures too) seem to sell pretty well, but i don't think i've ever seen a kid buy a skull fucker - only afols and teenagers

I know it's anecdotal evidence but I think ultimately, shitty designs will make kids lose interest. Even though lego doesn't believe it, kids can tell what look like shit. Even on a subconscious level they know that what they want isn't always what looks best. When I say this it's in reference to the over use of gold. Kids want gold because it's seen as special and coveted, but they still know it looks like shit. Bionicle's aesthetic direction and choice of colors is just ugly lately imo. Half of the appeal of 2001-3 was the aesthetics.
In addition, over using gold is just going to make it lose it's value super quickly.

it's going to be 2005 all over again (and gold everywhere too)

>>
>>5571688
Stellar part usage here.
>>
>>5569537
Honestly? I'd start with smaller sets, I feel the new sets are too expensive because of their size. While I like the idea of CCBS I think it makes the resulting builds too big and that jacks up the prices. Part of what made bionicle accesible to me as a kid was the price, with only the big sets being expensive they felt sort of optional, something you could get after you had collected the main six. And then you had the small sets and promos who were super cheap and you could have several off.
Also bring back the collectible aspect of bionicle, many kids love collecting stuff.
And i'd start big, many new parts to start of a new build system that allows for smaller buildable action figures than CCBS, maybe something with mixel joints. Lots of commercials, comics, webshorts, games. Really take advantege of the whole "every goddamn kid's got a mobile phone these days", and that means more than some fighter game where you just hack spider creatures appart and collect armor pieces that don't even do anything, Bionicle was all about ADVENTURE and MYSTERY. so make a game that has that.
a tv show can come later, but should definately happen bionicle became big as a multimedia platform, not just a toyline. This means that all those games and shorts all mean something and explain some of the mysteries but also create many, MANY more.

TLDR: don't half-ass it like they did. i feel bionicle could be huge again, but you really got to give it your all.

Finally bought Umarak, I'd be pissed if I spent my money but luckily I had a giftcard. He looks too incomplete, especially at the waist. Shit is just too lanky, they need to find a way to bulk that area up.

so when will this series get cancelled and how many of you are gonna go back to the boards you came from? keep in mind the busou shinki general has always stayed around, even when their toyline was cancelled and just got rebooted. in that time there could have been a ccbs general but you're just transformer fans and bitch and whine inside of self improve

how would you all feel if Hero Factory continued? Not even a reboot, just picking up where it left off? The story was simple enough they could do that without making it in accessible to new kids
>>
>>5573294
Why not. The bad guys would be interesting and individual, not just repaints.

>>
>>5573306
It's not only the designs, but the builds.

I agree that the stuff after that was shit, but I still think Hordika and Visorak are at the peak of shit. Things like the Stars still had things going for them, like kind of looking cool at least.

Overall, I can't believe people complain about new bionicle sets. They're sooooo much better than anything from 2008-
>>
>>5570852
So a repeat of G1?
>>
>>5573578
I had Invincibility Robot ones.

Surprisingly, the ball joints weren't the issue. Pins didn't have friction and Mata eyestalk shattered, though
>>
>>5573595
While I admittedly bought all the Hordika only because I wanted a complete-as-possible collection, how are they worse than shit like the 2008 Matoran with those one-part shatterlimbs? Granted, at least the Matoran had some color and design variety, which the Hordika sorely lacked. You know what, I might end up agreeing with you the more I think about them.

Visorak IMO were more forgettable than anything. Some of the most overlooked sets, and deservedly so, but at least they had some okay functions and nice parts (not including those giant body shells).
>>

I would have expected the pins to break as well. For some reason, I've had to replace the two half-pins on my Kivoda because they both cracked.

A lot of it is owed to the fact that old sets tended to have elaborately constructed features that also framed the body, making them look kind of spindly and bare, but at the same time it was always functional, and it was kind of like seeing the inside of a robot without the shell. Using hero factory shells actually takes away from the aesthetic IMHO, kind of kills the aesthetics and makes the models just look like generic robots, it's a huge oversight the design team just doesn't seem to get.

Anyway, look at pictures of old erector sets if you're short on ideas, their aesthetic is really close to early Bionicle.

I wonder if bzp will die alongside G2. LEGO won't have much of a reason to fund them anymore. Anyway. I love a good story as much as the next bonklefag, but a new line means new aesthetics. Back when hero factory was launched, I found the design shift appealing. The robots were allowed to look futuristic and their headgear wasn't confined to the mask aesthetics bionicle had to follow. Stormer's helmet remains a firm favourite to this day. It's nice and smooth with little camera, an underbite and a "scar" in one eye that give him tons of character.

They've been moving towards a Lego general for a while.

The way these packs come out is real odd. The Villain Pack just got officially released in Hungary this month. It was technically available some time last year, but this time stores are actually promoting it.

This could be just a one-off promo for some places in Europe, or it could mean that the promos are just taking a long time to reach the west.

It's just rumours and wishful thinking. Bionicle isn't ending. But even if it did the bzp inner circle wouldn't tell you. They make plastic off of the community. They wouldn't want it to collapse prematurely.

You mean the IFB mechs? Speaking of LEGO general, I never was a big fan of the minifigs. I recently got my first mega bloks minifigs (halo) and I can't stop wondering why LEGO hasn't sunk yet.
It's minifigs are expensive, blocky and have atrocious proportions.
Mega Bloks' products not only benefit from the promotion of blockbuster games, but they also have molded details, better proportions and great articulation. I was going to bite and get a Nexo Knight set but not anymore.

Not mine but I'd love to see this hiptastic piece of art turned into a drawing. I wonder if the mocfag would be willing to share instructions.

Couple of weeks ago. It expires today.

I haven't taken advantage of it though, cause I have no money to spend.

In risk of straying further off topic, MB tends to target an older demographic than Lego usually does. Plus, Lego pumps out way more themes thus reaching more people's likes.

I don't see what is so bad if someone is fat.
But that Gali is obese

Imo LEGO suffers from poor understanding of it's target demographic. Kids have always been more "adult-oriented" than the company thinks. Yesterday's kids grew up watching Robocop and Terminator (these movies had violence and swearing gallore and they even made toys). Today's kids are playing Mortal Kombat and God of War. You can't expect a kid to pester his mom to buy him a god damn CITY truck or something like that. Ninjago was successful because it's vaguely violent. Star Wars sells because it's kinda violent (though not much) and has a flashy franchise promoting it. Everything else stays afloat for a while and then sinks.

Another problem is that LEGO keeps emasculating it's IPs. Remember the Alien Invasion theme? It was an X-COM ripoff that bombed. Why did it bomb? Because LEGO had the "non-child friendly" elements. The aliens were comical in design, the atmosphere wasn't eerie, there were no horror elements such as abduction and experimentation. It was bland.
Another example, the G2 concept art. The toa had sharper looks and a more aggressive feel to them, while the skellies look more dangerous and sinister. Look at the end result. The theme doesn't lack ideas. Yes, the budget is an issue, but the concept art depicts different, better pieces, not more. They could had made more appealing sets with the same budget.

This is frustrating as hell, seeing a company driving it's themes to the ground and wondering what's going wrong. It's like watching Games Workshop.

Not that guy but I'm fat (though not by american standards) and I much prefer them chubby over fashionably skeletal.

Fat is bad for two reasons.
1) It's unhealthy
2) Just because women like to bitch about how men only want the pretty ones doesn't mean women themselves will accept a fat or ugly guy as a boyfriend.

Fat is bad.

I wouldn't call it as bad as Games Workshops awfull business decisions, but i will agree that it's a shame to see something that starts as a good concept get ruined by bad decision making because businessmen don't understand kids wants and needs. Like you can see it working with some minor tweaks here and there but they don't do it because "muh child innocence".

I don't think the theme even necessarily needs to be more violent, just more complex. Compare the books and the story in general to G1 and there's no comparison. Dialogue is simplified, few "big words" so the kids don't get confused. Story is short and sweet, and practically destitute as far as lore goes. Battles are simple, villains stock and even Umarak is pretty two-dimensional. There's no mystery or intrigue because TLG thinks every fan of Bionicle 2.0 is going to be some faggot with a four hundred dollar phone and four second attention span.
The problem isn't just the theme softening. It's the theme being watered down. What was once a series filled with intrigue and mysteriousness is now just a generic story about robots on an island.
