I've got a few Tomy figures and am interested in switching to Kids. Anyone have Kid figures? Is there a place to check on news for upcoming sets?

What Pokemon stuff do you all have?
I know this could be in /vp/ but I'm figuring there are more Pokemon toy people here than in /vp/.
>>
>>5560189
>interested in switching to Kids
i hate those super-deformed finger puppets. and theyre extremely common. pkmncollectors is one place to start finding news, plus someone's always BST-ing their kids collections in sales posts there.
>>
>>5560203
Thanks, haven't checked the BST in awhile.
They don't seem that bad for MSRP, and they don't take up a lot of room. I'd probably only get a few of my favorites, like Typhlosion and Ditto.
>>
What's the best way to get a toy of each of the original 150 pokemon? It bothers my autism that there are so many different lines of minifigures and I just want one consistent line of figures
>>
>>5560325
there is no way. no one line has them all & besides that the scale is all over the place in each. you kinda just gotta grab those you like as you see them on ebay or whatever. some will have to be a finger puppet or a keychain, certain pokes have only shitty representation, in some cases being bootlegs & nothing more.
>>
>>5560355
How did Japan fuck something this simple up? With all the blind bag bullshit going on now, I can't imagine someone in the US hasn't done it already.

I don't think those are bootlegs actually, they were weird tiny ones you would buy in blind bags. Like half the size of takara ones. I believe i still have Ryhorn from that set somewhere.
>>
>>5560413
More like half an inch. The figures are very poor quality.

It's real, KB Toys sold it. Originally they were $150 iirc.

They can honestly suffer form some pretty bad QC/paint aps, specially the smaller ones.
>>

serious answer: because you can only get them in gacha machines and have a lot of rarities. the holiest of grails is the Wailord, who cant even fit in a gacha machine and was one of those mail-in premiums

To be fair, some Pokemon get special treatment over others (for obvious reasons). If you're a fan of a particular Pokemon, like Finneon, than you have a lot less choices than if it was someone like Lucario. Not that there are any Pokemon with zero merchandise, but choices are more limited depending on who it is.

I shall always regret not buying the d arts Charizard. What are the chances of a reissue?
>>
>>5561726
I'm going to say about 50/50. Its a anniversary year and Bandai has shown it off with the new Figuarts Pikachu.

Don't buy it for the price it goes by now, trust me, its not worth it. I got it for a decent rape price but QC is so hit or miss and parts just tend to fall off and have to be popped back on. Its annoying to deal with. There will be another, better Charizard toy eventually. Just be ready to wait.

I dunno if or where Charizard has that white shadow touch-up, but i never cared for any small version of it

also I see a lot of those master ball packs lately, packed in with different tomy's. I only know theyre supposed to have the unique pack-ins of the kanto starters in their basic and evolved forms, but not their final forms. im not sure if they were supposed to be different regular tomys

They made a Zukan figure of Scolipede, but not a regular Moncolle figure. At least if they did I can't find it. Bootleg companies make them though, so I don't know.

What I really want a nice collectible figures of the human characters. Something along the lines of the old Tomy human figures, but small enough to be put in a blind-pack or sold in themed sets for not too much. Mostly I just want a toy of Luisa, but there are other characters I would buy toys of if they were made.

I reckon the chances might be less than that, which is sad. From what I've heard the D-Arts line didn't sell all that well apart from Charizard and Mewtwo.

Pretty shitty. I actually pulled all my Pokemon out of a drawer the other day just to see which ones I had, all ones I've just randomly gotten at Goodwill or conventions over the years.

Pokemon is one of my favorite things but I've just never really been into the merch because it's so overwhelming. I could try a collection for one particular Pokemon or something but there's just so much crap.
>>
>>5563490
most kids meal toys just dont work in a collection. the Vileplume and and Servine are pretty neat though. It's always a good idea to follow merch during a current/upcoming gen than wait at the end of a previous gen. There are times when something good ends up to be rare later.
>>
>>5562005
Pokemon toys always seemed so shitty growing up.

I've been playing since the start and the only merchandise I own are the D-Arts line. Except for the shitty Pikachu.
>>
>>5560355
>there is no way. no one line has them all

That's not true. The Kids line absolutely does for at least the first five gens (I'm a little out of practice so I don't know about gen VI, but it's gotta be close if not complete), and I'm pretty sure the Tomy monster Collection got all of the original 151 done (but by no means all 721+).

I felt the same way. Nothing has felt worth buying until recently, but man has the new stuff been great.

>>5563594
The only difference between the old stuff and the new stuff is bigger boxes. You still got your limited articulation, unfaithful designs, and horrendous scaling.
>>

I don't really mind the lack of articulation and I don't know what you mean by unfaithful. Newer stuff have much better sculpts and paint apps that don't look look like shit.

Where can I find an Ampharos which is in scale with the Moncolle Empoleon? I know there was a Moncolle Ampharos from Gen II but I have no idea where to find one since it's so old. Nothing on eBay.

There's an articulated Mega Ampharos but I think it might be too large. Not sure though.

I'm gonna be a bro and tell you guys why this set in the picture is fake. For starters anything that has the two diamond logo which says auldey or some form of it is fake goods. Second of all the Chinese text and random serial code on the top is a dead giveaway that it's fake as well.
>>
>>5571527
Pretty sure it's not in the game, but I would've loved to see a figure of Mewtwo in that armor from the first movie.

Auldey is just the Chinese company that licensed the figures.
Not everything Chinese is fake.

It's similar to Takara toys in Korea being licensed by Sonokong.

Auldey is actually a chinese distributor (or hong kong?), kinda like how Bandai handled Jakks toys in europe, Hasbro handling Tomy for the US, and how Sonokong handles certain brands in Korea. anyway, I remember back in high school, theyd mix Tomy and Auldey brands on the same shelf in various stores. There was even a Zoids section were it was Tomy's and Hasbro's stacked upon each other.

For buyers who really needed to know, distributors would always put this "MediaLink" sticker on Japanese toys as a brand of authenticity. the branding seemed pretty strict too since recognizeable bootleg toys never had the sticker. All the toys I've bought with that sticker were all of good quality too.

The stickers apparently have lost their pedigree and even appear on reproduced old pokemon toys which have lost their quality as well
