News:
>Kotobukiya is making reproduction kits for Arnval and Strarf based on new Machineca (マシニーカ) bodies designed by Apsy.
>Plastica.jp will sell blank bodies once he's happy with the final design.
>Megami Device (メガミデバイス) is another proposed line using that new body, so they'll be compatible too. They could be GKs, model kits, or figures. Too soon to know.
>Frame Arms Girl continues with an unarmored kit plus the architect is up next, with another mech on the way.
>Blade teamed up with Megahouse to make some cheaper, 8cm tall 1:1 battle robot figures called Desktop Army. Their plan includes 3d printable add-ons to appeal to customizers.
tldr it's a good time to be a Shinkifag.
Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money.
>Mandarake - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images (they sometimes get mixed up).
>Yahoo Japan Auctions - same kanji as above, you'll need a proxy, try Noppin or FromJapan.
>Taobao - search 武装神姬 and use a proxy like Taobaoring, Taoboafocus, or Bhiner.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned.
>Check the BST, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World for sales.

Man I don't know if this guy is the actual artist got the anime or what but this is super adorable
>>5371563
He's one of the animators, yeah.
Got quoted for talking about how he overheard some animation staff talking about how they won't be able to get more figures out with the anime due to "circumstances of adults" (usually meaning internal politicking and people being shitbags over at Konami) and got into trouble for it, so he took all his stuff offline for a while.
He put it all back up on pixiv under a new name though.
http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=9047150
I could have sworn he made a new twitter account too, but I can't find it.
>>5371681
Or something like that. To be honest I can't see the context of why he dropped off the net since he deleted his account. Wish I had caught it.
Did anyone here preordered the bd disc and the figures? It's supposed to ship this year right?
>>5371731
It ships in April, you have until February to pay for it.
>>5371563

That's like the total polar oposite of being a pampered little robot girl, also it's the true story of about 70% percent of the people i work with.
>>5372736
You're going to wake up that Strarf.
I've been away from Shinkis for a bit. Any more information on when the new plamo kits will be out?
>>5372980
Nope. Maybe news this wf.

Yep, was Mandarake hunting. Finding a Strarf Mk2 for as good of a price that I got Sharatang and Night Patrol Asuka at is hard, but given that I bought both at Jungle instead was a clear sign already.
>>5374023
I grabbed a strarf fullarm and asuka from nakano mandarake, there was an adorable doll clothing store I bought a shrine maiden set from too, wish I'd bought more from there, still hunting for a maid dress for gabby, she'll hate it.
>>5374025
I already miss Little World and the AZone store, having 1/12 scale props and clothing readily available for purchase was so much fun.
>>5374029

Why are so many /toy/ soldiers M's? Are S's just a rare thing in the hobby?
>>5375000
There's just more M's than S' I've found. Also a lot of people into hobby stuff are more introverted and it just seems like more likely to be an M.
>>5374972
I win! I win! I get attention and I win!
>>5375000
I don't know, I think it might be something to do with the ownership/collecting type thing. Specifically with shinkibros, if he likes to pretend to be the master of multiple tiny robot girls then that pretty much speaks for itself. The only other end of that spectrum I am aware of is the area I reside in, aka 'I love cute stuff and want to surround myself with it, and also I want to be cute too!' I guess it also plays in with whether you're more adult, more adult /toy/ soldiers would probably like the idea of ownership and collection as it's more mature, whereas more childish people like myself just like toys and cute stuff. But then again, this is all speculation and possibly confirmation bias, maybe people just like what they like! I think it's more prevalent in the shinki general compared to say, the BJD or nendoroid general because I'm pretty sure the ratio of boys to girls differ among the three.

Goodness, no. Angelene is quite fond of Gabby. She just doesn't understand her.
>>5375000
My mom was always beating the shit out of me with sticks, wires, planks and at school i got bullied until i was 15 when i challenged one of the bullies to a fist fight.
Violence was the answer but by that time i was already more used to abuse than love, whenever someone shows affection it feels fake, i mean i'm not a trench coat wearing edgy faggot; i care about people and can feel simpathy for friends and stuff, but love in the romantic way is alien to me.
The twisted craving for parental torture, that's the void Planelegs fills in my life.
>>5375395
Got a pattern /source for the kimono?
Are there any good guides on learning to sew for a small scale for shinki and otherwise?
>>5375395
My dad was abusive too anon, it scares me that his emotionally abusive attitude to me for 16 years on my life effected my romantic relationships, and how much I like calling my boyfriend 'Daddy', but thinking about that doesn't really make anyone feel better about anything. But please don't let people abuse you literally, I've had that before (with my first boyfriend) and it didn't make the void any smaller. I can understand to an extent, but please keep it consensual and healthy, don't let anyone treat you the way your mum did ever again.
>>5375424
I hand sew a load of dolls and 1/12 scale clothing but the reason I can is because I self taught myself embroidery as a child (I wanted to be a princess) and am really good at tiny detail, I just use patterns for human clothes and scale them down, just take care to keep hemmed edges and stitches small.
>>5375432
>>5375395
That's enough, fruitcakes, back to toy abuse
>>5375401

I could never "get" the joke of planelegs' shtick, even knowing he's not actually stupid enough to be breaking his shit constantly for the sake of being an edgy faggotl.
>>5375437
Thanks, guess it's time to learning sewing in general then.
In the OP it says that 1/12th doll clothes will fit the MMS body, will the 1/12th clothes in the link that's under fit or is it only specific lines like Picco Neemo?
>>5375621
Yeah, don't be too intimidated by it, if you use a template it's really easy and you need to learn at most two kinds of stitches. All it takes is patience and something to listen to whilst you do the same thing again and again for ages.

>>5377372
I was sorely sorely tempted by Zielbellen/S myself, but went with regular because Zielbellen/S's colors are so muted. Sometimes I feel pangs of regret, though.
>>5377372
Strarf Full Arms or Maryceles.
The sword sisters are nice, but you don't get nearly as many options as either of the above.
>>5377452

you should already be treating them with the utmost care, so I don't see where your "flimsy" bullshit comes from, are you some kind of hamhanded failure of a MASTAH ?
>>5377676
So when is konami going to make busou shinki into a pachinko game. In fact, have they made one?
>>5377734
Busou Shinki probably isn't even popular enough for a pachinko machine.
>>5377734
>>5377778
I was talking about this jokingly to the Shinki masters in Tokyo and I gave off the image of a gambler. I can't stop laughing about it.
>>5377802
I guess the pachinko meme isn't really a thing over there since they actually like pachinko?
>>5377676
>would you prefer konami's way, where shinkis rot in obscurity because the management doesn't feel like producing any more?
I would preffer someone acquire the molds and rights to release Estoril and Jill Rivers instead of something that will make me have nightmares involving broken joints, a pin vise, wire and superglue. But i guess beggars cant be chosers, can we? at least someone will get their shinki fix.
I watched the anime not to long ago and really just loved it, especally Lenne and the creepy ninja one. Can you fine fellows of /toy/ recomend a good place to buy one that i'm not going have to sell a kidney for? I checked ebay but horry sheet!
>>5377907
Any of the other places listed in the OP will more likely than not get you better prices. Depending upon who you're looking for, Mandrake and Amiami have a couple still in good condition floating around. Do keep in mind it's going to be relatively expensive no matter where you look just because there's no new ones being produced.
>>5377907
>Lenne and the creepy ninja one
Rev up those kidneys, if you want Altines you'll need both.
>>5377957
No wait, Lenne was the Altlene model. It's all the same anyways, you'll need both kidneys.
>>5376979
Speaking of which, can't seem to find a Ver.2 blank. Is there a chart for the picco neemo bodies as far as skin colour or is it just play it by eye and hope you you're right?
>>5377878
We'll know exactly how fragile they are when the Materia FAG comes out next month.
Fro m my experience though, plamo doesn't really break unless you drop them onto hard flooring.
Even then, nothing a little plastic cement won't fix.
It'll be really light though.
Trying to decide which Shink to get next and I realize now I have expensive taste. I want an Oorbellen, either Pearl or Lunaria (hnng) and a Strarf Mk 2.
>>5378115
>Fro m my experience though, plamo doesn't really break unless you drop them onto hard flooring.
Pretty accurate. It doesn't actually break, just usually separates at the joints on impact. I knocked an MG over earlier and his arm detached but it didn't even drop the gun.
>>5377966
No such thing as a Ver. 2 blank...those were the licensed characters with the non-removable chest plates.
Only Type 1s and Type 3s have blank bodies, the latter in Small and Tall styles.
I see a lot of love for Oorbellen, especially Pearl (WAAAAANNNNNNT), but what do you fellow Mastahs feel about her DFC sister, Ziebellen?
I lucked into an Amethyst earlier this year and she's GORGEOUS, but I still want the other colors...
>>5378140
I meant for skin tone. The comparability guide says it's Flesh ver. 2 The one I'm looking for anyways.
>>5377240
Yep she have a name, and a SOLID price
>>5378149
Oh, duh me...sorry, totally my bad. I think skin tone 2 is one of the rarer ones, actually.
>>5378181
But some men pay for love
and some pay for tru plastic love of Mastah~~
>>5378191
>>5378181
She looks like a heavily customized Oorbellen with a blank body.
See, this is the flipside advantage to having only one or two Shinkis, you get to spend all your time and money reshaping her into something glorious.
>>5378181
SO? What are both?
>>5378194
>>5378195
Yes, you use your love and delicate hands of Mastah to create a gorgeous
>>5378206
I doubt my calloused hamhands could make anything quite that lovely, but it's not a bad thought.
>>5378187
Yeah, I'm beginning to notice that as I find them and see prices ;_;
>>5378286
Yeah, aforementioned "Shinki semen demon" is part of the reason for that.
>>5377907
>and the creepy ninja one.
I'll have you know that she's a good girl.
>>5378320
Really? Do you know where one can find it? Like, is it something you can find at like Hobby Lobby or is it a specialty thing?
>>5378342
Actually, according to the original twitter post, it's decorative nail designs bought at a 100 yen shop. But either can work, and you can find decorative tape (also called washi tape) at Hobby Lobby. The nail designs you might want to try dollar stores.

>>5378483

>>5377878
jesus fuck what kind of hamhanded failure are you? how have you not destroyed any MMS shinkis you've had, if you're that dangerous around things you have to assemble for yourself?
>>5378124
koto's kits are pretty damned good about that. I have a shoddily assembled FA that fell off the shelf and nothing broke. I had to chase some bits around, but that owed to the lack of glue more than anything. some day I need to get this thing glued and lightly detailed.
>>5376826
Sadly to a certain extent but I just don't know how to befriend real girls, I have a few male friends. My boyfriend thinks my figures are cute, anyway.
>>5378866

>>5379184
It sounds like you're a literal gorilla if you hamhand kits enough that they break on you. Koto has been reliable to me and I don't even have the most gentle touch.
>>5378225
Nah, it's about training yourself to be delicate. Even my calloused hands can sculpt shit at fine details with the right tools and patience.
>>5379532
But you're the one who is talking about them breaking and there's plenty of evidence that it's just you having a case of ham hands.
>>5379571
I never said anything about hamhanding anything, you're talking about your own experiences like the faggots you are.
I've no brand loyalty, if something's bad it's bad, the only model kit that had me sanding down a balljoint to make it fit on the hole and still broke by just moving it was an HMM Cannon Tortoise, this shit has never ever happened with gunpla.

where to cop a 1/12 yukata or kimono for shinks?
or i know how to sew if there's a guide/pattern
Welp, I'm gonna try to snag that 12k Maryceles Lemuria off Mandy. Wish me luck in case I do get it and my Maryceles tries to kill me.
>>5379942
I'm just too insecure to be around other girls, and too autistic to know how to talk about things outside my own interests. It's okay anon, it's okay.
>>5381105
Sewing for 1/12 is pretty similar to sewing for people. I'd take an actual kimono pattern and modify it to be able to be placed on a shinki body, all you have to do is measure the shink and scale it down, just use your head.
>>5381105
I was just looking at these. You can try Picco Neemo ones or opt for the official Konomi Style kimonos on Mandarake. Be warned that there are two sizes.
>>5379845
Two or three folks here bought the clothes and we got a few people building garage kits as well.
>>5381174
I know this feel, I at first thought the missus thought my shinki hobby was excessive and borderline escapism but she had expressed a very huge interest in taking part in the Shinki-ing. Now that I finally got her the shinki she wanted on my trip to japan, I'm eager to see what kind of photos and shinki antics she'll be up to.
>>5371525
Does anyone know if any of those hobby joints they sell in packs on figure sites offer a ball with a peg joint that would fit in a Frame Arms Girl's neck socket? I know that the neck is compatible with MMS 1st necks but I've seen some people on twitter do it this way and it looked a bit nicer. I'd ask these people myself but I don't speak Japanese.
>>5379818

>>5381198
Ah, I see. Well I generally want to ask how they are and what should I prepare for in case I want to put them together. Do they need a lot of cleanup or prep work? Painting and such?
Does anyone here make customs? If so, what are the materials you usually work with? Plasticard, epoxy and cement? Was considering doing something, and I have materials cus I do tabletop stuff but was curious about other people's experience/knowledge.

Normally you'd first cut the pattern from paper without seam allowance and check its fit on the doll by assembling it on the toy with tape.
And you have to actually press the seam allowance down with an iron to get the final product into shape.

>>5384522
A mix of Modeling Support Goods' weapon kits.
>>5384324
Because that's literally what it is. Also dunno if it would be better to ask here or in the plamo general but, has anyone had experience with KotoUS? I ordered Stylet from them and I don't know if they didn't send me the shipping confirmation or if it just takes them forever to ship, it's been like a week since I got the order confirmation and I haven't heard from them.
So, back a thread or so ago when someone pointed out that Eukrante was up on madarake I figured I'd jump in and get my first shinki. Really happy with her and happy I got the extra parts and face as well. Excuse my shitty posing/photo skills.
>>5385249
Also raining outside so no natural lighting or flying allowed today.
Seems Renge decided to take the shoulder angel role literally...
seems to resemble one of those Idoru-costumes right now.
>>5379845
No one has any experience with these? Plastica stuff or what?
>>5385252
Fellow socal bro?
>>5385624
Yeah, been drowning all day but it's nice to finally get some rain.
>>5385400
Well, I don't have experience with specifically that kit, but I do have a few shinki armor garage kits.
You're going to want to reinforce all the pegs with metal pins because resin is much more brittle than the pvc/abs that shinkis usually use.
Also, there is always a chance you get a not as great mold and you have to fill in imperfections, if that happens you've got to cut the bubble down a bit and glue in part of the sprue that you'll shave down to size later as filler.
Alternatively you could probably grind up a bunch of excess resin from cleaning and throw it in some 5 minute CA or epoxy glue or something.
Regardless, don't go in expecting everything to go smoothly and don't expect it to be anything in the lines of gunpla. Resin GKs are an entirely different beast.
>>5385801
You will also need an air filter mask. Resin dust is worse than asbestos. Do it outside, wear a mask rated for organic chemicals, and wash your clothes immediately when you're done.
(No, I'm not kidding or trolling.)
Grappapps can be pretty too.
>>5385853
Don't forget to wetsand, not drysand. And wear some gloves while sanding.
>>5386019
I'm planning to do a flat coat to remove the shine but I keep putting it off because I'm scared I'll screw it up.
>>5386034
I would use some matte doll makeup instead. Something impermanent that will, frankly, look nicer at the end of the day. Asides from that, her face is already matte, the shine is just from her being plastic. A further matte coat might give you results you don't want.
>>5385785
Shinki>umbrella. You do have a Shinki, right?
So should I just give up on every getting a flesh ver 2 mms body and try to figure out which pico neemo body would be a good replacement for it? If the latter, which pico neemo body would be a good replacement for it?
>>5386094
That's what matte doll makeup is. They use mr superclear flat.
>>5386297
Well, if you have the money for a flesh v2 body, then you should wait for it to show up on mandarake.
If you don't... Then go for the a-zone body, given you're not trying to attach armor to it.
They don't sell the latest 1/12 body from a-zone on its own yet, so you're going to have to grab one of the latest assault lily dolls, ie:
http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIG-DOL-8624&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dpicco+neemo%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1
>>5386423
Don't have the money for the former unfortunately. Any idea how close of a match the skin tone is?
>>5386457
I don't think any Picco Neemo dolls have varied skin tones, so you're stuck with the one they have.
>>5386502
Ah, fair enough. Thanks.
>>5385400
At least one of us owns Plastica recasts. A few of us have garage kits as well. Patience.
What's good for removing paint from a Shinki body and the chest piece?
>>5386789
That depends. Are you stripping the original paint? If so, I found plain rubbing alcohol works well. Too well. (RIP Gabby's spiky collared chest piece. I need to repaint it properly)
If you're trying to strip paint you painted on while leaving the original paint on the body ....... I think you might be in trouble. Shinki paint comes off super easy.
>>5386817
>Are you stripping the original paint?
Yes. That simple huh? Thanks.
I was going over my Shinki list, and I realized I don't have a name for my Partio! Do any of you have any suggestions for a good name?
>>5387662
pico
>>5387729
But does he have the other two as well? No point in starting if you don't have all three, right?
>>5386502
>>5386457
There's white and flesh. Flesh is pretty close to skin tone 1, enough that it's a pretty perfect match for the Waffesisters, at least. Pretty good match for Werkstra in low/indoor lighting, especially if she has clothes on, but her face looks a bit flushed compared to the skin in other lights.
I can't give much advice on white, unfortunately. But the pictures make it look close to 4.
And either way, you have to carve out the neck hole of the PN bodies a bit, so I would recommend buying a blank one instead of trying to use one interchangeably with the dolls. Best reason to use one is that clothes fit a lot better. I have Waffebunny with the new military battle dress set holding a SCAR and she looks fantastic.
>>5387763
>Best reason to use one is that clothes fit a lot better.
Yes, MMS1 shoulderblades sprinkle sand into my eyes. What the fuck were they thinking back then?

I've always wanted a spider shinki, and these shots convinced me to give it a try.
I kinda like her.
>>5388209
I like it because if you count the human arms, this actually has 8 limbs plus pedipalps. Not like that ten limbed monstrosity up there.
>>5388209
I don't know if I'm going to keep this configuration, though. The 'legs' have no articulation, so there's no option for posing, plus, they're soft plastic, so will probably warp over time if I keep it.
I still want a spider Shinki tho ... I'm eyeing Asuka, Zielbellen and Artille Full Barrel, as well as some old amdriver bisars ...
>>5388216
That's good! Because the bisars I'm looking at also only have 3 pairs of legs, and that was bugging me.
Hey guys, some recast shinki parts are available on Taobao again.
This time boobs for mms3 and some hands and feet:
http://world.taobao.com/item/525814710986.htm?fromSite=main
It's simple enough to order from them, you just need to register for Taobao with a cellphone number to verify your identity.
There are a ton of videos on how to buy from Taobao on youtube now, but the guides I particularly used are from ShopBackSingapore:
Taobao Basics:

For making a TaoBao account:

Contacting sellers:

Shipping methods:

I've also got an order from this particular seller sitting somewhere in my local mail system, but it hasn't hit my mailbox yet so I haven't had a chance to see it. Probably will by today or tomorrow and I'll post photos when I get them then.
I'll try to write up a general guide in how to buy from Taobao without an agent when I can, but the above videos are excellent.
>>5388283
Wait, do you not need a proxy/middleman any more? What's shipping like from them, anyway? Those mega melons are tempting, though I'll probably end up just sticking to Picco Neemo bodies, honestly.
>>5387763
> I have Waffebunny with the new military battle dress set holding a SCAR and she looks fantastic.
Any chance of pics? i have a waffen bunny as well and was looking for outfits and kits for her.
>>5381186
Do the pajamas come in small and tall sizes too? Also do you know if pic related is a tall one?
>>5388376
Shitty cellphone pic, but since you asked...
>>5388415
sweet thanks very much
I assume the gun is from the little armory line - are the hands from the same line too?
>>5388433
Yes and yes. The hand joint needs to be cut down a bit to fit in Picco Neemo wrist joints, though.
>>5373585
Fiend! You show you face, er, tripcode. Someday I will surpass not only your abuse, but also your level of infrequent visits!
>>5388392
Pajamas are one size fits all.
As for the size of that yukata, I'd have to guess a tall because comparing the empty space to this one that is obviously a small.
>>5388782
I thought so but I didn't want to order one without asking someone first.
>>5388345
Shipping was like 10 bucks for me but I'm in korea. Would be cheaper if the seller ships to you (you need to contact them, Google translate eng to chinese works surprisingly well) but it's easier to ship via taobao if they offer it in your country.

>>5388283
My recasts are in. Overall not bad for recasts. I've definitely got some cleanup work to do, especially on the ribbons, but that's to be expected.
There might be a bit of a detail loss, but nothing too bad.
The ribbon in particular is a recast of the arnval ribbon that comes with the Moon Angel BD but in Black. He had a version in white, too, but I wanted to get the official version of that if I could.
The clothing is a BIT rougher in texture than Apsy's originals, but they'll work fine. The shoulder cape feels a little more rigid than the originals so they'll take a bit to fit properly however.
The only gripe I have is that the Neuroid Witch has no instructions, but it being a GK, I should be able to eyeball what I need.
I'll take comparison photos later.
>>5389064
Posting a few closer shot photos with links to the items themselves. The Daibadi Neuroid Witch is gone now though.

>The Daibadi Neuroid Witch is gone now though.
This week on "things I didn't know existed, but now I have a new grail."
>>5389071
Oh, and I guess it's worth mentioning tha they cast this out of soft plastic rather than hard plastic.
Not sure if the originals are hard or soft, but I think soft might be better.
>>5389064
What would be the keywords to look up for recast stuff like this? I guess mostly MMS stuff.
>>5389097
Unfortunately, it looks like the hands in mine broke into pieces.
I'm going to have to fix that somehow.
>>5389138
This is the seller:
https://shop68300666.world.taobao.com/?spm=a312a.7728556.2015080705.3.cq9Gri
I don't know if there's a specific word for recasts, it doesn't seem to be the case.
The keyword for finding shinki stuff in Taobao is a bit different than Japanese, so keep that in mind.
It's in the OP.
>>5389153
Thanks, and totally slipped my mind that it was in the OP.
>>5389140
Post pics when you finish. I'll definitely be trolling taobao for her now.
People keep reblogging my old shit so I'm gonna post some.
>>5389690
I don't have a lot of old photos on hand to share so
Can you tell which of these was recast?
>>5389140
SAME ISSUES SAME ISSUES
Prolly much the same recaster as well.
>>5389831
Definitely same recaster.
>>5389064
Is this resin?
>>5389827
Arnval is wearing the recast.
>>5389896
Yes.
