Got my first Takara figure in. Nightbird is pretty cool after you shave the palms a bit, but I didn't expect her to be so light and hollow. She's an awesome figure, don't get me wrong, but this mold or Takara is just talked up a lot more for how it is. That seems to be more about the mold being a shellformer and all though.
I have her and Off-Road in a duo and once I get the 3 combaticons I want she will go well with the galvatronus team since I have Strongarm with defensor.

They already did upscale deluxe versions of the set (Sinnertwin and Cutthroat) but they were released only overseas due to coming out at the end of the line.
It's the perfect solution to getting that team out. The molds exist and the molds themselves were rather well received. More to the point, they would not have to deal with people boycotting the Takara set because they omitted a member of the team because the Legend set was the full team set anyway.

Totally. After completing CW Bruticus, I compared all 4 Bruticuses (Brutici?) I had. (G1, ROTF, FOC, CW.) And FOC is easily the worst of them. He's just so bizarre. It's not even the colors or that, it's just so hard to try and enjoy him in any way. It's weird. I don't hate him, but wow it stinks now. I really want to know what their design process was.

A shame as I really liked FoC, especially the designs. I'd like to see some 3P make an attempt at a complete team of FoC Combaticons rather than trying to upgrade the pitifully bad Hasbro toys. Who knows, maybe Planet X will give it a go.
The big problem I can see with it is that FoC Bruticus is a "perfect" transformation- the game model is quite obviously comprised of the robots, the whole robots and nothing but the robots. So a 3P effort would have 3 elements to weigh up: game accuracy, the perfect transformation and the quality as toys, both individually and as a combiner. They'd have to either A: get a game-accurate and decent set of toys by sacrificing the perfect transformation, B: get a decent and perfectly transforming set of toys by sacrificing game accuracy, or C: get an accurate and perfectly transforming set of toys by potentially sacrificing their structural integrity/articulation. Obviously Scramble City capability would be right out, unfortunately.
Planet X can certainly do game-accuracy and make awesome toys, but they've never attempted a combiner before. The only other people I can see making a stab at it are Maketoys, who have the engineering wizardry to pull it off and very, very good QC, but often take artistic liberty with their products.

On the one hand it looks kinda daft, the colours are off (and not even in a "different but still good" way like the US version of MP-03) and the proportions are all over the place, but I do like the fact it's a custom combiner that isn't just a repainted Unicron with Transformers attached to its limbs, and appears to be a fully self-contained combiner. Also the paint is at least competent.

Is this toy any good? I absolutely adore her aesthetically but I have heard she is a bit of a pain in the neck to pose.
