Sup, /toy/. What's the best Raiden figure and what's the best Raiden figure as far as bang for your buck goes?
>>
Revoltech
>>
>>5323124
I have the white Revoltech one and I absolutely love him.
He's fun to pose and comes with plenty of accessories. It will take some time to get used to Revoltech joints if you're new to them, but it's well worth it.

And yes, it comes in regular colors if white isn't your thing.

Your other options are the PAK and Hot Toys which look nice but both have their fair share of problems and are pretty expensive at the same time.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys, anywhere I should go in particular? Do I have to worry about knockoffs? I'm pretty unfamiliar with the market
>>
>>5323183
Revoltechs have no known knockoffs that I'm aware of, especially not Raiden.
>>
>>5323183
HLJ? They have the white Revoltech Raiden for pretty cheap.

If that's the one you decided on.
>>
>>5323183
HLJ and AmiAmi come to mind, or Mandarake if you don't mind buying used.

We really should have a sticky.

The Revo is great, but you need to be patient and creative to get great poses.

I'm thinking of getting a second one to paint in the Desperado PMC style.

I got a raiden recently at a convention and when i opened it and started fiddling with it i noticed the head doesnt want to stay on the peg thats attatched to the neck. Not really sure if this is typical or not. Does this happen with revoltechs sometimes? Its a super solid figure otherwise, but the head falling off constantly is super aggravating.

but goddamn, that scaling. they're all PAK too, right?
>>
>>5323124
Revo and PAK are both pretty good, so I would suggest to decide based on the scale you prefer

Revo's face is kinda stylized, but not as bad as Snake's was. PAK's face isn't nearly as bad as they're known for, but there's so little face for Raiden in the first place

I have Revo in white and PAK in original. Random PAK face pic stolen from GIS

does anyone have a zandatsu kanji to print? or should i have to ask this in the paper accesory thread?
>>5323812
mine suffered of the same, i just change the joint position (peg that went to the head now goes to the neck, and the one that went to the neck now goes to the head), this gave him more friction on both parts, now his head doesn't fall off.
this also works with other revos, like with skelly. works better if you change the joints.
in case the neck is still loose, apply some nail polish or future floor polish if you have some
>>
>>5327089
forget the request, i found an pic of the kanjis, i will try to fiddle with it a bit and then post results, as well as posting it in the paper accesory thread
>>
>>5327062
A Monsoon figure would either be extremely lame because it lacks the magnetic gimmick, or extremely fucking complex and probably more than a little scary because it has the magnetic gimmick
>>
>>5327041

The others are objectively better, I just like the stylized PAK Raiden the most and I'm a sucker for variants
>>
>>5327134
A magnet gimmick might be cool, but I'd honestly be fine with detachable limbs and a display stand that can hold different limbs up.

Guy that posted the white raiden here, the other blokes were right, snake is hot-toys the rest are PAK, the MGRR raiden is A LOT bigger then the other PAKs, about the same size if not taller than the hot-toys snake when its standing straight, cant get exact measurements at the moment because they are in storage from moving recently, but the PAK raiden is roughly 30cms tall
(pic related, HT snake)

Not the greatest of pics as like most Revo figures, they look extremely awkward in a default pose, that and I had to use my phone due to the battery in the main camera needing charging.

Should give you a pretty rough idea on what each looks like though.
The White Raiden has an extremely nice white pearl effect as opposed to just pure white.
I'm not sure if I could even recommend which to buy as I love the look of both for different reasons, I personally love the look of mostly white figures so that would probably sway it for me.

Either way you won't be disappointed with them.
>>
>>5332145
Thanks. I might just have to grab the white first maybe the black later on, because I also love white figures. Appreciate it.
>>
>>5328419
If they didn't wait 7 years to release this thing it wouldn't have bombed as hard as it did. Shitty face selection didnt help as well. Not a bad figure though.

No one but themselves to blame. Knowing them they'll release the Char Aznable figure in 30 years when all the UC fans are dead and finally loses all relevance whatsoever.
>>
>>5329530
All the MGRR raidens use the same sculpt, just different colours, the MGS2 one (in 1st pic) is a lot smaller then the MGRR one and overall less wellmade IMO, both suffer from PAK faces though,

the PAK raiden is about the same size as hottoys, and is a really good figure, but if you have the money for it definitely get the hot-toys

Plus most people who would actually want Master Asia would want Domon to go with it.

Domon is an old figure and shelf warmed pretty bad. The red plastic tray in the box tended to leech into the face, staining it if unopened, meaning anything leftover was questionable in quality.

Because Domon is so old, the articulation/sculpt is outdated compared to Master Asia. Plus Master Asia was done in his 'street clothes' while Domon was sculpted in the trace suit. So anyone who already had Domon had plenty of reasons to be pass, even if they wanted to pair them up.

Anyone who didn't have both and wanted to pair them up now couldn't even get Domon.

There was a prototype of street clothes Domon and a couple other figures, but I think the line bombed hard enough we didn't even get webshop exclusives...
>>
>>5332330
Thanks.

Does anyone have pics of their hot toys raiden?

street clothes domon was spotted last year, after master asia's announcement. there was also a spiegel gundam RD and an effect part for master gudnam.

Decent. They're skinned in vinyl, but smartly designed. Elbows ratchet to 90 degrees, there's a ratcheting inwards-only bicep swivel too.

A lot of people have had issues with the elbow ratchets being too strong and breaking, thankfully mine hasn't had that happen (yet), but mine came from Asia and most of the reported issues have come from Sideshow's stock.

Ignore if this is too off topic but there's no general PAK thread... Is the Liquid Snake PAK to size with the others of the line? I know the Raidens tend to vary in comparison and especially next to the new MGSV line so I don't know what he'll look like. I really want to get him to pose with my new Mantis though. I know Mantis isn't to scale next to anyone because he's too small as a child but I don't want them them to look too stupid next to one another either. As long as Liquid isn't smaller than Mantis's PAK I think I can live with it though.
