Anyone have any Yo-Kai Watch stuff?
(also any plans on buying the localized Hasbro stuff next year?)
>>
>>5303172
>(also any plans on buying the localized Hasbro stuff next year?)

Already got it preordered. Hope this does well over here; I'd love to have localized versions of the Model Zero watch and the Z-Medals.
>>
>>5303186
I heard varying from where you pre-order from you can get a "Paws of Fury" promo medal. Hope both the toys and game sells well enough for more stuff honestly.
>>
I got a Jibanyan model kit. I hope to find more Dimmy merch soon because he's my favorite
>>
>>5303198
I was thinking of getting either the Kyubi or Komajiro model/figure, I think it will be nice and accessible to collect medals over here so I'm very excited for that aspect.
(I believe they will cost $ or $4 for three medals)
>>
I only wonder if we will get far enough to get the Zero Watch (I couldn't personally say but hard to say if the game or the toys will sell more).
>>
>>5303201
The MSRP for the medals is $2.99 for a three-pack which is fantastic, especially since the medals over there only came in two-packs.

>I think it will be nice and accessible to collect medals over here

This I'm really excited about. Shame we don't have any kind of prominent gashapon equivalent in the States but the blind bags will work just fine.
>>
>>5303209
Damn Hasbro is getting their shit together (I will be bound to buy so many of them) well I had debated purchasing the Japanese Yokai Watch but it would be hard to collect medals for it, it's really a shame that arcades and the such aren't popular over here anymore~glad I'm not the only one looking forward to it's release
>>
>>5303212
I really hope this does well, or at least doesn't flounder. There's no way it could have ever been the smash hit it was in Japan but moderate success would be nice. Actually getting into the show, game, and toys all at the same time is a lot of fun.
>>
Is the watch the only toy coming out in January?
I thought the toys (action figures) were coming out in the spring, but this promo booklet I got today that says "Hasbro toys out in January."
>>
>>5303172
I think if this had come out when I was a kid I would have eaten it up, as an adult I'm not too interested but I think it will do well.
>>
Where can we pre oder one?
>>
>>5303234
I got mine from Wal-Mart's site but you can preorder them on HasbroToyShop too.

>>5303229
I just checked and it looks like it. I'm assuming the medals will be out around then too?
>>
>toyshop review
>Just so you know, the back of the medals have QR codes that can be scanned into the game in order to get items, in game money, or even Yokai!

No WONDER there was hype about the medals in that other thread
>>
>>5303172
So I want to get into this, but I don't have a 3ds. I've seen there's an Anime but no toys in the US yet, should I just watch the Japanese Anime in case I want to buy some of the toys out over there?
>>
>>5303926
Sure! If you don't wanna have to buy the same medals from two different regions you should watch up to episode 27 when the Model Zero watch shows up. It only takes Z-Medals and not the standard grey medals so you'd be collecting a completely different kind of medal than we're getting over here.
>>
>>5303953
Is the medal zero watch the redish coloured one? I've seen that one and the white one like in OP's pic about on the net.
>>
>>5303926
Yeah just watch the Japanese dub. The American one has a lot of stupid localization choices that kids wont care about but will just annoy adults such as the Yokai Orochi being called Zenoct or some shit because they're afraid of using Japanese names except you know Jibanyan, Komasan, Komajiro, etc.

Chogokin Robonynan is 48% off on AmiAmi. It was like $16 on HLJ's sale but I missed it and grabbed it on AmiAmi instead. From what I've heard it's pretty nice.
>>
I'm probably going to pick up a couple model kits for myself soon, I'm amazed how cheap they are. Definitely going to have a look at the American merch when it comes out, I just want a plain little Jibanyan plush.

It's this one. Hasbro have plans to make this apparently but it'll probably be a while from now if they even get there to begin with.

>>5304004
It's not all bad. There's select voices that are better (and select that are worse, too) but it helps to watch if you wanna get into all the localized stuff as a whole.

Just watch both and decide for yourself.
>>
>>5304023
>It's not all bad.

Didn't mean it was just meant that if odd localization choices bug you the dub is what he should go with. Personally I wish I could find a good batch torrent of the Japanese dub that has more than two seeders.
>>
>>5304033
iktf. LevelUpSubs has DDLs for a select few on their site if it helps at all. Haven't looked into mongee's as I've not gotten to their subs yet.
>>
Do you think Hasbro will end up finding ways to cut costs with these toys like some of their other lines or are small plastic medals with stickers on them cheap enough as it is?
>>
>>5303172
I got some promotional token at NYCC this year.

I have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do with it.
>>
>>5305923
If you get the watch that comes out in January you can use it in that.

If you have the game now you can scan the QR code on the back into the game for an in-game item.

If none of these apply to you, send it to me.
>>

>>
I wonder if spruekits is going to pick up the plamo.
>>
>>5306136
I hope. The kits seem pretty simple and they don't seem like they'd be too expensive to produce.
>>
>>5306136
That is if Hasbro allows BoA to let them be out in the US market. I think Hasbro has less plamo right now (read: MLP POP).
>>
>>5307607
Shit, I didn't even think about that. I'm so used to automatically assuming Bandai is in charge of bringing over the anime stuff.

Why DID Hasbro decide to produce the Yokai Watch toys?
>>
>>5307631
Dunno, probably because they though BoA will shit it up? Or maybe BoJ secretly allowed Hasbro to do it by giving them the toy blueprints? No one knows why...

Normally I'm not a sub supremacist or whatever but the dub is pretty bad. To a child (which of course it's aimed towards) it is good just as Pokemon was to us back in the day. Regardless I'm excited for the toyline and hope we get the second game

I have Chogokin Jibanyan and it's pretty sweet.
>>
When I had got into the anime a little after it aired I was interested in the watch (I was really into collecting Kamen Rider stuff). I've been on the fence on purchasing it because Hasbro releasing it over here plus I feel it will be difficult to collect/purchase the Japanese medals.
>>
>>5307607
>That is if Hasbro allows BoA to let them be out in the US market.

It's possible. Spruekits make models of properties where other companies make the toys already. Aren't models often a separate licensing thing from toys as well?
>>
>>5305872
The only cost-cutting measure they seem to have taken is removing the searchlight on the watch. The mechanism for actually reading the medals can't really be made any cheaper, since even the Japanese medals were just solid plastic discs with little nubs that flick switches in the watch in succession.
>>
>>5308593
i wonder why though. leds are really cheap though - and the board has the logic for activating the light (when you hold the button it even makes the same sound)
>>
>>5308657
Part of me is curious because of what you mentioned but another part of me really doesn't care and will accept it because I really wasn't expecting it to retail for less than $30 and yet here we are.
>>
There's a Nintendo demo event at the local mall and one of the reps there were wearing the watch. It's HUGE on an adult.
They also gave out temporary tattoos of the watch and a paper Jibanyan hat.
>>
>>5308667
did they give out any medals?
>>
>>5308657
Beats me - this is Hasbro we're talking about, after all. For what it's worth, they've expressed interest in producing their Type-Zero watch at a higher price point and including a projector function.

This denial is luxurious. Just stating the obvious. The game is selling like shit. I played the demo, it was lackluster at best... it'd be fine for kids I suppose with all the collecting, but the limited strategy and the "scribble on the touch pad as fast as you can to do a super move" is pretty fucking dumb. It was promoted as the pokemon killer... it is not. If the game isn't selling, how well do you really think the toys will do?... and to top it ALL off, Hasbro is doing the toys? What happened, was playmates to busy?

You'll see a wave or two of these at best, and then you'll be stuck searching ebay or amazon for the rest of the stuff because no one will carry it.

Stay mad though, sorry your Ultimate Nippon Kid Sim game is garbage tier.

>>
>>5313740
>angrily shitposting over dumb things

This must be the work of a Yokai.
>>
>>5313732
It means they think i'm some how mad about the game, or I suck at the game, or I don't want others to enjoy it so that's why i'm talking negatively about it. I'm just talking about it because I'm interested. I'm just not living in a lala land were things continue to get made even when their commercial tie in fell flat.

I mean, I wanted the thing to do good, I wanted the game to do well. I thought its a great idea... its just not working. People have said the second game makes the first look like garbage... maybe they should have lead off with that one, and then down the road released the first as a "yokai legends" game or something.

>>5313698
I'm at the tail end of the post game content with level 80 yokai, and I honestly think the combat is one of the best things about the game. There actually is a lot of strategy when it comes to planning and customizing before combat with formations and skill books, and understanding how to produce synergy between different yokai, like tanks and DPS keeps the live action portion pretty engaging.

Where the game falls flat is the dull fetch quests making up a good portion of the game's content, the abysmal RNG that feels comparable to an MMORPG and pretty much everything about fishing/bug catching.

Hopefully 2 improved upon all of these issues.

oh man do they. RNG is improved, though it may take a little effort to get it your way (ex: you gotta fight a boss to guarantee a good roll).
