I was thinking of getting either the Kyubi or Komajiro model/figure, I think it will be nice and accessible to collect medals over here so I'm very excited for that aspect.
(I believe they will cost $ or $4 for three medals)
I only wonder if we will get far enough to get the Zero Watch (I couldn't personally say but hard to say if the game or the toys will sell more).

The MSRP for the medals is $2.99 for a three-pack which is fantastic, especially since the medals over there only came in two-packs.

I really hope this does well, or at least doesn't flounder. There's no way it could have ever been the smash hit it was in Japan but moderate success would be nice. Actually getting into the show, game, and toys all at the same time is a lot of fun.

Sure! If you don't wanna have to buy the same medals from two different regions you should watch up to episode 27 when the Model Zero watch shows up. It only takes Z-Medals and not the standard grey medals so you'd be collecting a completely different kind of medal than we're getting over here.

Yeah just watch the Japanese dub. The American one has a lot of stupid localization choices that kids wont care about but will just annoy adults such as the Yokai Orochi being called Zenoct or some shit because they're afraid of using Japanese names except you know Jibanyan, Komasan, Komajiro, etc.
Chogokin Robonynan is 48% off on AmiAmi. It was like $16 on HLJ's sale but I missed it and grabbed it on AmiAmi instead. From what I've heard it's pretty nice.
I'm probably going to pick up a couple model kits for myself soon, I'm amazed how cheap they are. Definitely going to have a look at the American merch when it comes out, I just want a plain little Jibanyan plush.

It's not all bad. There's select voices that are better (and select that are worse, too) but it helps to watch if you wanna get into all the localized stuff as a whole.

Normally I'm not a sub supremacist or whatever but the dub is pretty bad. To a child (which of course it's aimed towards) it is good just as Pokemon was to us back in the day. Regardless I'm excited for the toyline and hope we get the second game

I have Chogokin Jibanyan and it's pretty sweet.
When I had got into the anime a little after it aired I was interested in the watch (I was really into collecting Kamen Rider stuff). I've been on the fence on purchasing it because Hasbro releasing it over here plus I feel it will be difficult to collect/purchase the Japanese medals.

The only cost-cutting measure they seem to have taken is removing the searchlight on the watch. The mechanism for actually reading the medals can't really be made any cheaper, since even the Japanese medals were just solid plastic discs with little nubs that flick switches in the watch in succession.

There's a Nintendo demo event at the local mall and one of the reps there were wearing the watch. It's HUGE on an adult.

This denial is luxurious. Just stating the obvious. The game is selling like shit. I played the demo, it was lackluster at best... it'd be fine for kids I suppose with all the collecting, but the limited strategy and the "scribble on the touch pad as fast as you can to do a super move" is pretty fucking dumb. It was promoted as the pokemon killer... it is not. If the game isn't selling, how well do you really think the toys will do?... and to top it ALL off, Hasbro is doing the toys? What happened, was playmates to busy?
You'll see a wave or two of these at best, and then you'll be stuck searching ebay or amazon for the rest of the stuff because no one will carry it.

I've got a pile of Buster Medal packs and Type-Zero packs coming in the mail that I got for a steal.
I've also been saying this will never catch on over here since March. Maybe Hasbro's sensible starting price point will prove me wrong. God knows Bandai would have jacked the prices up.

I'm at the tail end of the post game content with level 80 yokai, and I honestly think the combat is one of the best things about the game. There actually is a lot of strategy when it comes to planning and customizing before combat with formations and skill books, and understanding how to produce synergy between different yokai, like tanks and DPS keeps the live action portion pretty engaging.
Where the game falls flat is the dull fetch quests making up a good portion of the game's content, the abysmal RNG that feels comparable to an MMORPG and pretty much everything about fishing/bug catching.
Hopefully 2 improved upon all of these issues.

oh man do they. RNG is improved, though it may take a little effort to get it your way (ex: you gotta fight a boss to guarantee a good roll). Quests aren't all fetch quests anymore, but an odd mix of puzzles, quizzes, racing, and rhythm(?) games. Fishing is more realistic with a reel and everything, though I think bugs are still RNG dial
