I had no idea who or what Moschino is, so I did a quick Google search and found their website.

I can only assume they don't have a consistently active demographic, and can only prey on the occasional idiot with rich parents who'd buy from them, while incorrectly guessing that the extravagant price tag and the 'name brand' BS inherently equates to some level of quality, or a high demand for that garbage.

Basically, instead of investing $100 on a surplus, and pricing everything reasonably to attract a consistent consumer market (you know, like a respectable retailer) they just spend $2 on dog shit and have enough patience to keep it listed until some asshole buys it for $700+

Nobody buying Queen's Blade figures does so to gain status among a group or to be "in", Anon.

Those clothes and accessories didn't cost a fortune to make (even factoring in the designer's paycheck which must be huge), the inflated price is part of the appeal for whoever is buying them, as weird as that sounds.

The only thing keeping Barbie alive is the same thing keeping Superman, Batman, Popeye, Peanuts or Mickey Mouse alive- they've been around so long they've become part of American culture so we won't let them go away, even if their marketability fades or if they have to be changed so much to appeal to new audiences that they barely resemble what they once were.

LitD only appeals to people because it's written in such a way that it makes you wonder if Barbie and her friends didn't escape from a mental hospital, yet almost no one who watches it buys the toys.

>LitD got specific dolls

with horrible faces and the odd decision to use articulated arms, making them look unlike the screen versions. No Chelsea doll with a 1" He-Man action figure accessory either.

>The only thing keeping Barbie alive is the same thing keeping Superman, Batman, Popeye, Peanuts or Mickey Mouse alive- they've been around so long they've become part of American culture so we won't let them go away

What you mean to say is: "They are valuable IPs".
Because that's all there is to it - they still got some value for selling other products, so they aren't being retired. Their staying power is a product of the way IPs are managed in US business.
>>
>>5288016

>>
>>5288017
Sales have little to do with it. Outside of the CGI movie that's in development hell, Popeye has had very little in the way of recent merch, yet someone still knows who he is. Peanuts getting a new film probably surprised a lot of people because it's been sliding out of the public eye for years, but still, people know what the franchise is because it's been burned into us for so long it's not going anywhere.

Reinventing Superman recently was probably more damaging than anything because part of what makes Superman so lasting is that he doesn't change. He dresses in that familiar costume, he flies, he has specific powers, he's weak to kryptonite, he fights a bald guy. Changing a character that's been static for decades doesn't always go over so well. Batman can change, because Batman is more complex and has been constantly changed around. Seems every 20 years or so Batman gets an overhaul because sales have slumped.

Barbie is THE fashion doll, even if her actual sales these days are poor. Monster High might be a sales giant now but long-time pop culture doesn't care. The average person on the street can't name it.

Some things have just been around so long they will always be around even if they aren't selling.

How well did Justice League Gods and Monsters do? I though tit was surprising that the movie was even made considering how much they change characters. (That was the point of th emovie though, so maybe subverting people's expectations in a very self aware fashion is what helped.)

I'm a boy. Grew up with a little sis and 2 gril cousins. Grils used to play Barbie together all the time, I had no choise but to play with them if I didn't want to play alone. I usually handled Ken or Michael Jackson (they had a MJ Ken doll). The playtime usually started out girly, each girls having a doll, lots of accessories, dreamhouse, boat, cars... After a while I usually came up with a funny story element, like introducing a bastard kid, or Michael Jackson cheating on a Barbie or something like that. We laughed a lot and I actually really enjoyed to play dolls with the girls. Yes, I'm gay, but I'm not effeminate at all and I don't think growing up with girls and playing girly games ever had anything to do with that.

Commercials like me kind of worry me desu

It seems like everyone is so overly excited to do away with everything white and straight that they're injecting all sorts of gay and mixed race shit into everything at every opportunity. It's happened in comics, it's happened in tv, it's probably happening in books and it'll somehow find its way into stuff like sports, tabletop games and a bunch of other hobbies that don't even seem to have that much to do with gender politics but get co-opted for the sake of it.

And that's not even regarded other shit like BlackLivesMatter and Tumblr and every other fad going on right now trying to discredit white people and every value they've worked to maintain.

It's like

You don't want to side with /pol/ but then you start daydreaming about the moment when being straight becomes a social faux pas
>>
>>5293273
These new wordfilters are great because they let you immediately identify low-quality posters without having to read the entirety of the text.
>>
>>5293273

It will create a backlash eventually. And then all liberals will be tarred with the tumblr brush. As a someone who used to identify as progressive, I hate it.

>>
>>5293273
>a vocal minority of writers capitalizing on trends means being straight and white won't be cool anymore

for someone seeming to want to distance themselves from /pol/ you sure do seem to be tripping hard on their kind of rhetoric. Do you realize how tiny the percentage of the population that identifies as gay is?

>>5293346
or it will become normalized completely and you'll be cvcked into oblivion.
